Pours almost clear, honey amber to new gold. An almond cream head lingers a few minutes before leaving a ring of lace. Tiny bubbles of carbonation randomly waft up slowly from within a Piraat tulip glass.

The aroma is funky apple cider, followed by biscuit malt and ample oak. Warmth accentuates earthiness and grape must.

The flavor is quite tart with a quick hit of bitterness followed by sweetness. Sour orange is present, followed by herbs and oak before tart apple takes over late in each sip. The finish is long, sour and moderate. Warmth brings to mind old leather books and the atmosphere of a cigar smoke-filled room.

Soft woollen texture works well with the medium body. Carbonation and alcohol are modest, neither cleaning the palate.

The beer falls short of the label's bravado, but is enjoyable on a quiet, cold, mid-autumn Sunday.

bottle from some box from some trade some time ago. enjoyed from a wicked weed mini. the description is a bit scary w Brett, fruits, and zest, and chile. didn't know what to expect, but enjoyed the liquid. mostly a brett ale with the fruitiness of the blood orange and lime zest softly trickled on top with the chile. it's all there but it works. not magic but good.

Slightly hazy orange color with off-white head. Aroma has some overripe stonefruits, light grape vinegar and some farmhouse notes. Taste is fruity, quite tart, dry with some nice floral farmhouse notes. Light body, high carbonation. Overall it’s a quite nice, easy drinking wild ale.

I probably should have read the beer label closer. But I was sold on the combination of blood orange in chiles. I've had other Farmhouse Ales (which it's described as on the label) and they vary. They can be so funky you taste the hay to bitter to mellow and sweet. This "ale" is one of those sour ales that I pretty much despise. I know that sour beers are all the rage now, but I just can't get into them. Overall, I don't think this was too terrible of an experience. I'm going to drink the bottle because I paid a bit for it, but don't expect me to become a sour lover after this. You do taste a bit of the citrus, but I don't get any of the chile.

2014 vintage
375ml bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a hazy golden-orange color with a one-finger foamy white head that has short retention before settling into a ring around the edge of the glass

S- tart blood orange and lemon zest up front, followed by some earthy funky notes, almost sweet dark fruits and oaky wood close it out

T- tart and zesty orange up front with some earthy barn-like funk, plenty of oak near the finish with increasing acidity on the close

M- medium-light body and carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and finish

O- nice citrus notes throughout with a balance of funk and acidity

Pours a golden orange with minimal head. Nose is of sour grapes and funk. Taste is tart up front. Grape skin, spices, peppery and Greek yogurt. Not really getting the chilies, if they are there I am missing it. Medium body with a tart dry finish. A bit of barrel on the finish of this beer altho it is minimal.

Hazy golden-orange color, not much head. Yeasty and fruity aromas. Taste matches, along with a wonderfully complex balance between fruit and spice notes. Feels like a dry white wine. Tart, but not too much so.

cool blend, but i am not as high on this one as on other wicked weed sours. the blood orange and the lime are the most forward of the added flavors, but it lacks the brightness you would expect in a beer so citrus heavy. for being sour, its also still pretty sweet, so there is a bit of a fatiguing back and forth going on there, but the flavors are authentic and good. i sure would have liked to taste more tamarind in this, that would be a cool ingredient to use in isolation in a base beer like this, but here it seems lost to the more obvious fruit. fortunately, this chili is barely there, i got almost none of it in the flavor, that may be covered up by the citrus too. not much grain flavor here, and there is a general thickness i dont really understand. carbonation feels better than it looks, bt its not as lively as it could be. cool blood orange flavor, but a somewhat more one dimensional beer than it presents itself as. moderate sourness does not limit drinkability but also does little to enhance this overall. kind of clean acidity i dont usually associate with brett, not so funky here. minimal oak profile too. one thing i admire about these guys is how much beer they make and how different it all is, but this is not one of their best i dont reckon.

Amber / orange body with a thin cap. Aromas of blood orange and lime definitely stand out. Margarita-like notes. Caramel maltiness with a blend of sweet and sour tones. A tad vinous. Different, unique, interesting.
