I am probably the outlier on this one but I poured it out. Dark black color. Aroma was mild spice. The flavor was like cola, not french toast. I just couldn't drink more than a couple sips.

Look-Pours a deep, dark brown, thin head that doesn't stick around

Smell- cinnamon, sweet, roasty

Taste- very sweet, cinnamon, chlorine

Feel- dissipates quickly, smooth, no real lingering taste

Overall, I'd get this again but it doesn't have a complex or powerful flavor profile. I'd recommend this to a rookie who wants to try a stout.

500mL bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 7.99. Bottled 12/28/16. Served in a Wicked Weed snifter.

Pours a dark chocolate brown but rests in the glass essentially black. Two fingers of pale tan head gradually fade to a thin veneer and fluffy crown, imparting some scattered, thin wisps of lace.

Aromas os cinnamon, maple, chocolate, roast and some faint vanilla. I'm not sure that I get French toast but it smells pretty good.

Cinnamon greets the palate right up front. That ubiquitous breakfast spice is joined by chocolate malt, mild coffee, maple syrup, old caramel, a whisper of vanilla and a subtle booze heat. As in the nose I'm unsure of just how much French toast I get but the end result isn't bad.

Medium body with soft edges and moderate carbonation. Vanilla creeps in more in the finish, complementingthe cinnamon, chocolate and maple syrup.

Wicked Weed's French Toast Imperial Stout is some pretty good stuff. It's far from the best I've had from the brewery but still a quality offering.

Tap at Good Bottle. Very dark brown pour, off white on top. Sticks just barely.

Aroma, yep there's cinnamon. Vanilla, dark toffee. Bready toasted malt. Chocolate, very minor roast presence. It's just too spicy for me.

About medium body, could be considered a bit thin. Drinks easily enough, just too much for me.

Overall I just don't like Christmas or pumpkin spice brews, you need to like them to really like this.

The beer looks great. Dark as night with a nice mocha head. The smell is what you would expect. It smells like french toast! Nutmeg, cinnamon, but with some chocolate as well. I was a little disappointed with the taste. It tastes like an excellent stout, but the french toast piece was subtle. I didn't let it warm much, so if it gets to more room temperature the flavors would likely come out more. Overall, I did enjoy this beer. I wouldn't go out of my way to try it, but I'm going to try it again and let it warm to see if I get more of those french toast flavors. Still a good beer.

Growler fill from local place.

There are many interesting things going on with this beer, but it's not a home run for me. The nose comes out more as it warms, though roast and spice are the dominant flavors. Whatever I imagined a "french toast" stout would be, this isn't quite it.

On its own merit, it's a very accomplished, medium-body stout with a nice balance of dark/roasty and bright/spicy. I'd try it on tap to make sure I'm not missing something, but otherwise this is a one-and-done for me.

Creamy thick head, nice lacing, dark brown color

Nose sweet brown sugar, maple, cinnamon, little booze, ester, biscuity dark malt, cocoa,

Taste sweet candy, maple syrup, cinnamon, a little vanilla, hint citrus and some esters, touch booze, dark malts and toffee, little caramel, cookie dough notes, little bitterness.

Mouth is creamy like, lighter carb

Pours black even when held to the light, no highlights on this baby just darkness. Coco colored head is small and fades fast with some lacing.

Aroma is nice sweet roasted malts extra sweetness for molasses/caramel like notes or in this case i guess maple syrup. Some light spicy cinnamon notes mingle with chocolate and vanilla.

Taste is peppier then expected the carbonation brings the cinnamon and vanilla to the front of the chocolate and sugary maple syrupy malt. Good roasted notes lots of lingering vanilla and maple sweetness. Guess French Toast stout is an appropriate name. Overall a good brew little to much carbonation for me personally but it does seem to highlight the spice some.

Mouthfeel is only medium for me the carbonation just more then I like in my big stouts.

Overall good flavors and a nice beer like the cinnamon kind of a nice touch. Would have on occasion if available but not something I would have to have.

this is quality stout, the adjuncts arent over the top in it, and even though the barrel aged version of this is a big step up, i enjoyed this one. it doesnt really conjure images of maple drenched french toast to me though, and im not sure it could being a stout as a base beer, lots of dark roast and coffee flavors in this, which, while compatible with the added ingredients, does not necessarily scream french toast to me. the cinnamon is subtle in the nose, with the vanilla being by far the most forward and obvious element. the flavor is more balanced between the three, and i do get the maple in the finish. lots of sweetness here, on the edge of a novelty item rather than a beer to reach for more than once, but its super well made, just perhaps intentionally a bit overdone. dark chocolate from the grain, sweet vanilla, definitely desserty more than breakfasty, but i see the line of thought and think the execution is pretty darn good. having the barrel aged one right after this really diminishes my overall appreciation for it, that one just tastes like a totally different beer, truer to the french toast itself, and far more original and memorable. good beer, but i think this one lacks the signature wicked weed "oh my gosh no other beer tastes like this at all" component that they often deliver.

@ Tasty Beverage

Black with some beige stickiness on the surface that collects at the edges. Starts off smelling heavy on the cinnamon, but soon opens up with a convincing crusty toast quality and faint maple and vanilla. Flavor starts out roasty and dark with bread, light vanilla and maple well-integrated, finishing with a spicy wash of cinnamon. I was expecting something rich, but this was more toasty and bread-crusty with probably a little too much roasted bitterness to be really impressive. Medium bodied and dry with fluffy carbonation. A little booze blending into the bitterness. I usually don’t complain about a strong stout being not sweet enough, however I think it would improve things here (which is odd, seeing as how others found it too sweet). Solid and entertaining, but overrated.

16oz can poured into a snifter, canned 1/18/16

A- pours a jet black color with a thin foamy khaki colored head that reduces to a ring around the edge

S- cinnamon forward up front with hints of vanilla, toasted bread, actually smells like cinnamon toast

T- cinnamon forward flavor up front with notes of cocoa and a hint of vanilla. Toasty mid-palate with a dry finish of more cinnamon

M- medium body and carbonation, foamy mouthfeel, crisp dry finish

O- pretty tasty but somewhat one dimensional, with the cinnamon primarily taking over

Pours a rich cola color with a slight fine head. Roast, cacao and cinnamon on the nose. Taste is very much reminiscent of spiced Mexican chocolate with lots of cinnamon charter. Mouth feel is a bit thin for style IMO.

Pours a dark chocolate color. Aroma is pretty light with notes of cinnamon. Flavor is a a balanced stout with a nice aftertaste of cinnamon nutmeg and a French roasted like flavor. Overall very cool beer to drink.

Appearance: Arrives with a charcoal color and a two inch tan head; plenty of lacing sticks to the tulip

Smell: Chocolate fudge, toasted bread, cinnamon sugar, vanilla and a touch of maple

Taste: Crusty bread and chocolate fudge, up front, with the cinnamon sugar and maple tones building; finishes rather sweet with a wallop of vanilla

Mouthfeel: Full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Well, Wicked Weed hit what they were going for but after half a glass, the sweetness of the beer gets to be overwhelming; I wouldn't try it again but will keep the rating up because it is still a good beer

L - Pitch black with 1 finger of head and no lacing

S - Maple syrup and cinnamon. Just as the label prescribed!

T - Sweet, cinnamon, syrup, nice grainy malt aftertaste.

F - Low carbonation and medium body

O - Well it is just as they intended. Definitely french toast in a bottle! A little too sweet or desert beer for me to buy consistently

Pours thinly, and is black in color with a very small, thin light brown head.

Smell - Coffee, brown sugar, dark malt... pretty mild smell overall.

Taste - Delicious! Mildly sweet bread with cinnamon, vanilla, slight maple syrup... It's like breakfast in a can.

Feel - Thin, but low in carbonation so it goes down nicely.

Overall - Nice alternative to a RIS, sweetness makes it a great after dinner treat.

Had this on 2015-01-10 at the brewery.

Aroma is french toast and mapke syrup. Taste is similar but wirh more char. Not a ton of maple but pleasantly present. Rich thick feel.

Pours a deep brown body, in the glass it's opaque and black with a light brown head that reduces fairly quickly leaving spotty lacing and light retention.

Aromas of milk chocolate, coffee, definitely getting cinnamon and spices there too. On the tongue is the same, light chocolate, coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, no maple though. Mouthfeel is on the thin side with medium low carbonation.

Decent, glad the spices came through but wish there was more maple.

Aroma is roast malt and vanilla dominant. Cinnamon emerges late.

Flavor is maple syrup sweetness throughout, with roasty, lightly bitter undertones. Cinnamon dominates, here, with a hint of vanilla in the finish. Damn drinkable at the high abv.

On tap:
Beer looks wonderful - dark brown near black with a nice tan head. Halfway down the glass it's still there I both thin coverage and almost uniform splotchy lace.

Nose isn't grabbing me, even with my nose in the snifter. I'm getting a little spice and syrup over a stout base.

Taste is roasted malt, coffee more than chocolate to open. A syrup flavor comes on, and brings some sweetness, but not enough to destroy the stout. The end seems to make be bring a little cinnamon or similar, bringing back the stout feel.

A nice tasting beer where the inspiration food is alluded to more than overrun, and that's ok with me.

A: Deep, dark brown, could pass for jet black at first glance - pours with a medium sized, creamy, light brown head, fades to a wispy cap, leaves some spots and streaks of lacing

S: Solid imperial stout base with some roasty chocolate malts, lightly burnt aromas, dark chocolate - semisweet chocolate, cocoa, some milk chocolate - roasty, hints of coffee - vanilla aroma seems more prominent, followed by equal parts cinnamon and sweet maple - some caramel as well

T: Decidedly reminiscent of French toast, perhaps more like eating French toast while drinking coffee - range of chocolate, dark chocolate, semisweet chocolate, cocoa - chocolate malts, roasty, hints of roasty coffee - cinnamon is more obvious in the flavor than the aroma, adds an underlying spice that works well - some vanilla and some additional sweetness from the maple - dark caramel and some bread

M: Medium body, medium carbonation, very smooth, borderline crushable

O: Let's get some f----in' French toast!

It's easy to write this off overly gimmicky, but it's actually solid enough to warrant genuine respect. The imperial stout base is nice, and the cinnamon and vanilla flavors are nice, and I suppose not everyone uses as much maple syrup as I do on French Toast.

Poured from the bottle into a Wicked Weed goblet glass. Bottled December 28th 2016.

Dark walnut blackened red body color. Half finger of tan head that settles to a nice thick and bubbly tall collar. Good coating of lacing and webbing as well, very nice looking stout.

Nice aroma, but not as diverse as the ingredient list seems to hint at. Vanilla and creamy roast body mostly, touches of an almost hazelnut quality to it. Spice and maple not really so much. Decent and solid stout aroma but with a nose that's more centered on creamy roast character than anything.

Palate gets the job done. Light yest solid rich body with a crispy waffery flavor. Chocolate and vanilla in the mid palate wash on a nice dark cocoa body, that just barely touches coffee character. Large amounts of soft cinnamon on this and almost with a good amount of heat from powdery brown warmth of spices. Good controlled spice on the finish that gets into touches of leafy herbs, mint and sugar. Crispy to its namesake as well, with a bit of husky and crackling grain too.

Very well named and tasty brew. Sweetness isn't too out of control on this either, very nicely put together.

I really enjoyed this one. It wasn't very balanced as I mainly got roasted malts in the flavor. The nose was really nice. Lots of caramel and vanilla with a touch a maple. Most of those flavored didn't come through very well in the drink since the roasted malt overpowered.

8.4% ABV. per growler label.Pours a dark chocolate brown with some deep brownish hue,a thinner beige head atop.Cinnamon toast really stands out in the nose along some vanilla,yeah it really does smell like French toast.Warming cinnamon spice and syrup flavors with a tinge toast,vanilla takes over into the finish and lingers.Wow this is pretty cool,although it gets a bit sweet after awhile the flavors are great.Great concept and a great beer.
