Appearance: Pours with an abundance of foam, so it takes a while for the liquid to appear; when it does, it is a hazy honey color; rings of lacing appear as the foam fades

Smell: Bready, with banana and sugary tones; slightly herbal, as well

Taste: Herbal, with spicy yeast and bready tones forward; some Brett tries to break through in the middle and arrives alongside the sugar beet sweetness; spicy in the finish with underlying sweetness

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Really comes across as a BSPA rather than a Saison and not a bad one at that; just not what the brewers intended when they labeled it as an Imperial Brett Saison

Appearance: Pours out a clear, gold body with a hefty-sized, whitish head.

Smell: A little bready, a little toasty malts in the aroma with some implied sweetness and realized wafts of alcohol. A bit yeasty, but it's not altogether funky. Spicy, sharp herbal quality but also a fair amount of citrus hops wrapped up in here.

Taste: Bready malts with an edge of toastiness. Sweet, mealy sugar beet accent in the fore. The hops are at once floral and citrus, but also yield hints of dried snappy herb and light melon. Moderate bitterness. It's never overtly funky. Chiefly citrus and spice on the back half with a growing sense of warmth from the ABV. With the lasting suds, it's a fluffy, drying finish with some lingering alcohol and bitter tones.

Mouthfeel: Lands just half a notch above medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Nice enough, though a one-and-done beer for me.

500ml bottle in Duvel tulip
Bought in Asheville in Jan 2015 and in the fridge since then.

A: Crystal clear golden color with a white head that never quite disappears.
S: When first poured, not a lot going on. As it warms it gets a little "sweeter" and more "Belgian"
T: Belgian yeast, a hint of malt sweetness, a little bit of hop flavor, no obvious Brett.
M: Too rich/creamy for a saison, comes across as a Belgian Pale Ale, but the hops don't quite fit that either.
O: An odd beer, not really a saison, but definitely a Belgian influenced beer. Somewhat disappointing that Brett did not make an obvious appearance. A good beer, but not at all what I was expecting given the label (Brett Saison), comes across as more like a Belgian Strong Pale than a saison. Would not buy again, but would happily drink if someone else was buying :)

Shared bottle.
Look: Light golden body oz hazy with a very good head.
There's a load of citrus in the nose but the flavor is more complex and less fruity.

Great beer, not sour, but wasn't expecting it to be. Funky, bready, silky.

Gobs of Belgian yeast flavor, bubblegum, banana, coriander. A strange rubbery flavor is slightly underneath, like it was brewed with hose water. Very thick and yeasty mouthfeel. Tastes like a bretty Belgian tripel with an extra loaf of bread brewed in. Interesting but not particularly good.

Rubbery saison aroma. Slightly burnt and woody flavor. Bitter medicinal finish.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter, the beer is a bright, crystal clear, vibrant, golden copper coloring with a fluffy, tall, clingy, bright white head. Aromas of farmhouse funk first and foremost, with earthy notes, bubble gum, subtle spearmint, juniper, sugary sweetness, and toasted grains. Sweet notes on the nose overpower everything else. The flavors are herbal forward, with basil, spearmint, cut grass, rhubarb bitterness, tangy and sugary sweetness, subtle farmhouse funky notes, and a toasted grain backbone. Balanced and light, all on a smooth, light, crisp body. The aftertaste is light and tangy, with subtle tart fruity notes and a spice blend linger. The finish is slightly effervesced and crisp, with a subtle tart kick at the end. Not bad.
