Formerly Canvas Series: Recurrant
Recurrant begins as a deep amber sour ale and is blended onto copious amounts of black currants. It is then laid to rest in 500L cabernet puncheon barrels. The larger, red wine barrels lend a delicate complexity to the final blend.

375ml bottle poured into a snifter
A- Pours a deep ruby purple with a one finger foamy off white head that has great retention
S- Plenty of black currant up front, along with some acidic tartness that adds lemon notes. Some vinous red wine, along with some jammy notes
T- Just a hint of tartness before giving way to some jammy berry notes, with the current popping through. Undertones of lemon and some earthy yeast that gives some catty notes. The finish gives jammy currant
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a dry finish

Bought this bottle at the brewery in July. Poured into a tulip glass. Purplish brown color with a lavender head and lacing. Smell and taste of tart currants, along with dry red wine. Woodsy funk. Very nice wild ale.

Pours hazy ruby red with a dense creamy off-white foam head. Smells almost a bit lambicy with fresh black currants, Cabernet red wine, oak barrel, dusty barnyard funk, hay, straw, woody spice, horse blanket, some amber malts, notes of wild raspberry, tart red berries, black grape, with herbal earthy floral hops. Taste follows with near lambic-like complexity, fresh almost jammy tart black currants, Cabernet Sauvignon red wine, oak barrel, hay, straw, woody spice, dusty barnyard funk, horse blanket, some toasty amber malts, fruity notes of wild raspberry, tart red berries, vinous black grape, with herbal earthy floral grass. Feels medium bodied, rounded, creamy with smooth moderate carbonation. Overall a real nice sour ale with black currants aged in red wine barrels.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a deep mahogany topped by a dense finger and a half of cream colored head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with decent lacing
S: Smells of light funk with a little barnyard, currants, and musty oak.
T: Taste is currants and sourness with some funk and barnyard. Slight band aid and oak. Swallow is more currants, slight sourness, more funk and a little more band aid.
M: The beer has a body that is on the lighter side of medium. Carbonation is slightly effervescent but remains below prickly. The beer has a drying finish from the acidity.
O: Overall this one is really impressive. Nice clean flavors with some solid complexity make this a nice one to sip and savor. This one is worth a try if you can find it and like the style.
