Can’t say I picked up much strawberry - it is just a simple, well done Belgian style table beer with some straw yeast and light lactic kick, not bursting with flavor but a nice easy sipper

From the endless box of goodness via @Dragginballs76 during NBS BIF#8.

I'll admit, I expected a more rosy hue. This is pretty well crisp clean golden body without a hint of any red of any sort. Nice little white head that settles in to the ring of fur and wispy galaxy.

Nose is big minerally funk primarily. Some soft grains and brett. As it warms and I dig I can find some strawberries, but it takes a little bit. They definitely benefit from letting the beer sit and reach closer to room temp.

While the brett is really the star of the show here, I actually find myself somewhat distracted with the soft malts. There's a dull broad sweep to them and it kind of blunts and completely cuts off the back end until the tart brett character picks up along the finish like it was following through a track I couldn't see. The strawberries primarily present as the kind of green earthy character up towards the stem of a fresh strawberry. There's some berry tart and then just a tiny bit of a sweet kiss to focus the sticks and stems.

Overall this one didn't hit quite as well as the other Wicked Weed brews Mike sent, but it's not bad by any means.
Glad to have gotten to try it (even if there's always a little snicker at some of the fruit additions from an AB/Inbev brew given their vocal dismissal of such).

Thanks Mike for sending this along and giving me a chance to try it!

Quite hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is fruity with earthy strawberry notes, yogurt, cream and some sweet wheat notes. Taste is sour, almost puckering with unripe, green strawberry flavor complete with the stems. Light to medium body, well carbonated. Really dry with light brett funk and unripe fruit character.

The aroma is powdery, sweet strawberry, sweet rose watery funkyness, damp mustiness, with just a hint of summer farmyard. It’s a light and crisp beer with green strawberry tartness, moderate acidity and some earthy funkyness. A very approachable Brett beer I’d say

Down-graded my score on this beer after having the recent 1/16/2018 batch. Not sure if the strawberries weren't ripe enough or if WW didnt use as many as in previous batches, but the strawberry flavor was much more absent then Ive recalled.

L: Poured from a bottle to a tulip glass. Had a bright orange color and a cloudy texture. There was a quarter inch of foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Below average lacing.

S: A sweet, alluring aroma of citrus fruit, barnyard funk, yeast, strawberries, and spices.

T: Tasted of a bunch of the advertised strawberries, some Belgian-style yeast, light citrus notes (orange), a light maltiness, a woody quality, and light spices. I never really considered strawberries for a saison, but this one does it right. It's vibrant, fruity, and refreshing. Very tasty.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Not your typical saison here, and that's a good thing. Well worth seeking out.

Cloudy pale rose with a bubbly white head.

Smell is brett-laden funk, heavy on the wood and cheese, paired with fresh, wild strawberry jam.

Taste flips the ordering, starting with tart and spiced strawberry jam followed by a nice oaky, bretty funk, some lactic cheese, and lemon jelly.

Nice and light, frothy and dry, this is one of the better strawberry saisons, sours or wilds I've had by anyone.

A: Lots of strawberries, brett funk, slightly vinous, with a light tartness.

A: Bright orange color, hazy, with a moderately large white uniform bubbly head that forms a thick film across the glass.

T: Lots of strawberry flavor, slightly sweet and tart, slightly vinous, plenty of brett funk with a light lingering sourness.

M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

O: Super tasty; the beer has a great strawberry and slightly vinous character that well complements the beer's funk and sourness.

one of the things i think these guys have down the best, sort of like a jester king, an allagash, or a crooked stave even, is that mixed culture character where both the funk and the sourness are there, working together, complex and balanced between the two. this is more delicate for wicked weed, very interesting, beautiful beer that has a wonderful yeast quality about it. pale hazy, no color from the fruit at all, lacy and foamy and lively, very light. the aroma is tart strawberries right away with a veery funky and mature brett profile right behind it. less of the heavy oak interference here, which i think is neat. strawberries always seem to either be sugary and fake in beer, or they tend to be paired with something like vanilla or red wine barrels that often overpower the fruit itself. its very exposed here, natural, but the beer is dry and the yeast seems to accentuate the fruit. a little bit of acid here too, tangy but not sour, perfect for drinkability and refreshment. some of their other fruited stuff is super intense, this is not at all, a more careful beer it seems. really really well done, awesome brett complexion, high carbonation, bone dry. elite level wild ale here.

A 500ml bottle dated 6.3.16 poured in a 12oz. snifter/tulip for the review.

Look- Pours a cloudy gold with two fingers of creamy white lingering foam. Generous lacing graces the glass as it slowly settles.

Smell- Tart strawberry, mild band aid and sour funk.

Taste- Tart strawberry once again followed by orange zest and the band aid I associate with brett beers.

Feel- Crisp and tart with a very dry finish.

Overall- While I'm a fan of this beer, I had hoped for more strawberry flavor to go with the tart and funky body of this beer. I guess I just like big fruit flavor in my sour candy? That aside, it's still an excellent beer with mouth puckering sourness and a touch of strawberry. Another from Wicked Weed that I would recommend.

Haven't done a review in awhile:

A: Pours a hazy golden orange with just the slightest tinge of pink. Frothy white head rides atop the elixir.
S: Ripe strawberry, orange zest, honeysuckle, white wine, and a little funk. Very fruit forward, estery nose with a little white grape on the back end.
T: Overall, this is fairly well balanced, perhaps just a tinge on the sweeter side, though not offensively so. Strawberry sours are notoriously hard to perfect and this is about as good an example as I have found. The flavor profile is primarily strawberries up front, with a nice, drying white wine and funk complexity in the mid. Finish is back to strawberry and honeysuckle, semi-dry.
M: Again, a little on the sweeter side but overall good balance.
O: One of the best strawberry wild ales I have had. It's not overly complex, but it nails the right notes while being effortlessly balanced.

Drank on tap at Wicked Weed Funkatorium, Asheville, NC
Served in a tulip

The cloudy, glowing orangey-yellow body was topped by a fluffy, bright white, two-plus finger tall crown that faded relatively fast. Streaky lacing trickled along the glass.

Strawberry notes came through big time in the nose. Underripe strawberries to be precise. Fruity and bright but also quite musty. Bit of peach too. Wheaty and tart. Slightly sweet. Lots of dry, powdery yeastiness. Subtle white wine notes were noticeable as well.

Strawberries again came through strong in the flavor profile. Really crisp and tart but not overly acidic. Wheaty. Subtle white wine presence. Lemon notes appeared on the back end and carried into the finish. More tartness and acidity. Really crisp and dry with a touch of lingering oakiness.

Fantastic frothy mouthfeel. Highly effervescent. Pillowy soft on the palate. Really amazing for the style.

Bombadille is a terrific strawberry-infused saison and the best beer I have yet to try in Wicked Weed's Canvas Series. This beer balances fresh fruit and musty, barnyard-like notes as few other saisons or wild ales do.

Poured from the bottle into a Wicked Weed globe glass. Bottled June 3rd 2016.

Deep tangerine orange body color, with a real nice pink hue to it. Top forming head is fluffy and white, but a tinge pink as well, settling to a dissolved top and bubbly collar. Very neat looking brew.

Strawberry fans look no further. This is your beer. Juicy and bursting strawberry notes, you can practically pick the seeds out of your nostrils. It's a bit of a one note aroma but it is flat out exceptional with no flaws at all.

On the taste leaves no surprises. Excellent strawberry freshness and some contrasting brett head that is slightly moderate in flavor and feel. Hints of mild peppery yeast, light tangy fruit of strawberry juice, and foamy filling palate. Finishes rich but a bit light on the palate, with some of the fruit flavor dissolving a bit quickly, with no residual sweetness.

Probably the best tasting strawberry beer I've had. Doesn't get quite into amazing but gets pretty close.

500mL bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 10.99. Bottled 6/3/16. Served in a Wicked Weed snifter.

Pours a hazy peach hue with two fingers of fluffy white head. After the foam settles a thin film of haze spreads to a broad belt that leaves several islands of lace.

Smells sharply tart and a little fruity. Funky hay, berries and earthy oak. Pretty nice.

Tastes pleasantly sour with tart berries, oak, funky Brett, earthy dried grass, rind and some faint pineapple. It's a blend that goes down very easily.

Light body with mild fizzy carbonation. The tart berries have much more strawberry character in the finish with some complementary Brett and oak.

Bombadile is noticeably lighter and more tart than other recent fruited farmhouse releases from Wicked Weed. It almost drinks like a Berliner. That's no problem as its delicious and a super easy drinker.

Funk funk and more funk. Love the smell and taste is delicious and well balanced sour, funk, sweetness and hops. Extremely well made. Tends to feel a lot more wild ale/sour than a saison but who cares what style it's classified as when its just a great beer.

Taste: Lactic strawberry tones with building Saison yeast and some barnyard funk flavors; the finish is leathery and dry with berry flavors lingering

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Batch# 807 | Bottled On: 7.9.15

Slightly hazed orange under a meager head of pure white bubbles that collect around the rim. Funky, spicy aroma...barnyard, earthy berries, oak - pretty rustic. More distinct strawberry in the flavor, though it's not overwhelming in any way. Sour berry and lemon, light and refreshing, not as funky, but the Brett still brings just the right amount of character. Light, not too watery - super dry and tart. Very tasty...

S: Smells like an Asian supermarket. Funky with a hint of sweet strawberry candy undertone.
T: More funk, strawberry is late to the show but lingers nicely.
M: Thin, medium to light carbonation, refreshing.
O: It's got some nice funk balanced with a nice strawberry hard candy that hangs out after the party is over. The smell is funky fermented exotic that totally reminds me of an Asian bodega or storefront.

Beers like this make me forget why "Look" is even a factor. It looks okay, kind of a cloudy golden haze, but once you get past the superficial metrics, this beer is awesome. The smell is beautiful. You get the rustic, barnyard smell you hope for in a saison and then on the end of that smell there are delicious strawberries leaving you to wonder where they are.

Well, dummy, they're in the glass and upon further inspection, all the strawberries are found. As someone who hates when people nitpick chocolate vs bakers chocolate, I would say If you're so nitpicking, it's more dried strawberries (as in, the kind you find in Special K), than fresh, juicy from top to bottom strawberries, but that should be expected in a beer that's serving said strawberries up at this point in their lifespan. The taste is totally amazing though, a superbly brief biscuitiness followed by all the strawberries. If you focus on the first 3 seconds of taste, it's like a great strawberries on biscuit dessert with no whipped cream. In this case, that's alright!

Pours a pale pinkish-orange that settles into the glass with a very thin bone-white head and a cloudy body. Aroma has a noticeable Bretty funk, hints of fresh strawberries and a big doughy bread aroma. A short description could be "strawberry shortcake in a barn?" The flavor has ton of fresh strawberry flavor, hints of tart, underripe fruit, Bretty funk in the back and towards the finish, and hints of the doughy bread in the back as well. Feel is on the lighter side, with a definitive tartness and medium-high carbonation. The fruit is strong with this one, but this is much more than just a fruit beer. The complexity for a very low abv beer is admirable and the flavors play nicely.
