Attractive thick black pour, slight tan head, aroma of sweet booze, light coffee, burnt chocolate malts, sweet and bitter and boozy finish. This may be the best Wicked Weed beer ever. Great balance of all of those flavors and the high ABV. Great job from a brewery known as a sour brewery.

Appearance: Pours espresso brown with a modest head; squiggly lace drips down the side of the glass

Smell: Espresso, chocolate, Tequila and oak, with a hint of dark fruit

Taste: Espresso forward, with chocolate, dark fruit and caramel flavors building; in the middle, the Tequila becomes prominent; the finish brings a blend of flavors that are not as sweet as the base beer as the espresso adds a different dimension

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low to moderate carbonation; warmth in the gullet

Overall: The espresso infusion makes all the difference with this beer as I felt the base beer too sweet for my palate

This is easily one of the top two most complex (hello, Project PAM) beers I've ever tasted. In a sea of interesting and highly unique beers at the 2015 Denver Rare Beer, this one really stood out. I doubt I will ever get to try it again, but am sure glad I did. Not really sure where to start with the flavors... It was a complete mind-bottler!

Expresso, Brett, Roasty stouty goodness at a 15% ABV you could (MAN)bearly detect.

Near black body with a small beige head. Wonderful aroma. Espresso, chocolate, coffee, oak. Sweet booze, tequila, syrup. Elegant and amazing balance. Medium to full body. An unusual and outstanding beer. Wow.

First, don't be confused and start thinking this is a sour stout, it's not. Second, it's fantastic, from the thick black pour, to the nose of sweet tequila and espresso, to the thick, creamy mouthfeel, to the divine finish.

This may be the best Wicked Weed beer ever, too bad it's also one of the rarest.

Looks rich and pours dark but not overly thick. The nose is rich with espresso. The taste starts well with espresso and roast and then immediately goes way sweet and syrupy. Another Dark Arts disappointment.
Between the 4 of us that split this we were led to believe all the reviews and ratings were from draft and that the bottles most taste vastly different. A poor mesh of flavors that tastes artificial and cloying.

500mL bottle into a snifter
Vintage 2015

A: Jet black, opaque, 1 fingers width of light tan head dissipates quickly and leaves essentially zero lacing. 4.25

S: Huge espresso coffee notes, cocoa, very subtle tequila and essentially zero brett notes on the nose. Some sugary sweetness and subtle dark fruits. 4.5

T: Sweet dark fruits, cocoa, and tons of coffee notes. A sugary sweetness thats balanced nicely by the bitterness of the coffee. Tequila is present but quite subtle. Again, no real hint of the brett, maybe a bit of plastic like characters that I sometimes get in Brett beers, but thats about it; although thats not a bad thing as this beer has enough going on. Great lingering cocoa and espresso flavor on the finish. 4.5

M/D: Full bodied, carbonation appropriate, ABV is exceptionally well masked, and drinkability is excellent. 4.75

O: This is really an excellent beer. An Imperial Stout aged in tequila barrels with Brett and espresso sounds like a recipe for disaster, yet someone they pull it off brilliantly. I would say I lean towards liking the non-espresso variant better (I like the bigger sweetness thats not cut by the bitterness of the coffee), but both are stellar. 4.5

The smell is very enticing with a wonderful tequila and barrel aroma sitting on top of just a hint of espresso. The taste is outstanding with wonderfully integrated tequila and once again a relatively light flavor of espresso. I was expecting more espresso but the balance is really good and I'm not sure more espresso would actually be a good thing. Even though it's a different barrel it reminded me a lot of BCBS in look, feel, and even taste. I don't really taste any brett at this point and the presence of brett makes me worry a bit about how it'll taste aged since it's so good now. Absolutely awesome brew.

I don't give many 5's on beers but this is just delicious. The Tequilla is not overwhelming but it tastes of coffee and is very smooth. Not sure how the Brett will transfer this beer a year from now. Must have and I'm sure it will hold up against the big boy stouts that everyone wants.

So good!!! Espresso then some carmelly maple flavor with a nice bite at the end. Up there with some of the best coffee beers. Wish I got more than 2 bottles. Very very well done. Not sure what what the Brett will do but it is drinking amazing right now.
