Cherry Go Lightly is the first beer to fill our foeder and was inspired by the friends who helped us source this barrel monstrosity. Friends inspire us, support us, and share in our love for this craft. This beer is for them.

Dark maroon that lightens to copper at the bottom, with a large, foamy, khaki head that leaves thick curtains of lace.

Aroma hits you with a total awakening of the senses with deeply complex cherry, oak, chocolate covered blueberry and blackberry. Lemon, black pepper, and a sourness that skirts vinegar territory linger in the background.

Taste is really complex flavors of cherry, charred oak, pepper, and cedar. This attains perfectly balanced sourness and bitterness, with orange pith and grape developing. Oaky woodiness, grape gummies, and a bit of acetic acid increase at full pour and as it warms.

Surprisingly frothy, fizzy, and full-bodied. Cherry Go Lightly is a relatively strong, tart sour, finishing dry, but I feel it is all in perfect moderation and well-matured.

Almost clear amber color with a bit of off-white foam. Aroma has funky yeast with barnyard notes, vanilla sweetness, cherries including pits and some wood. Taste is tart, woody, fruity with cherries and fruit pit bitterness on the finish. Medium body and carbonation. Really tasty, well made and elegant beer.

12/29....lighter red based brown, a cherry wood like finish. Oaky fruit nose. Loads of cherry fruit based malt. Just a soft fruity tartness in there, the base is the fruit. Some sour at the close. Tasty,

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled November 14th, 2015 Batch #704.

Shimmering jewel of an appearance. Deep chestnut red, with fantastic bright clarity and a dark presence. Glowing Christmas ornament and metallic looking, with a simple off tan like collar on the pour which stays in check. A small amount of visible carbonation is noticeable. This is a real neat looking brew, incredibly impressive.

Aroma takes some interesting angles. Mild sensing funk and light acid, but more of a soft cookie biscuit malt note that comes across at first. Pitted berried fruit qualities with a lighter note of tartness. A very noticeable push on malt, but a good one with a decent fruit component.

Palate delivers nicely but also simply. Tartness makes a take over for hard rock almost Jolly Rancher candy. Rocky cough drop sensing fruit quality but more toned down with an almost mineral flavor. Finishes relatively clean and straight forward but also easy and quickly, not giving the palate flavors much time to linger and appreciate. Cherry angle comes off a twinge sweet slightly accented with cookie malt quality. Minimal wooden character.

A decent take on a different Flanders red like style, but quite a bit different. Sort of reminds me of a dumber downed regular Rodenbach but slightly different.

500mL bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 15.99. Bottled 11/14/15. Served in a Wicked Weed snifter.

Pours a transparent chestnut with ruby highlights and a little more than a finger and a half ecrue head. Swirls of retention dot the surface and the full, bubbly crown leaves some wide swaths of lace.

Smells of strong wet wood, tart cherries, fruit cake, sherry and vinegar. Nice.

Flavors are a tart blend of sour cherries, earthy, wet wood, red wine vinegar, mildly biting lactic sourness, apple skins, leather, barny funk and a little oaky vanilla. The foeders and cherries dominate to great effect and this tasty treat is an easy drinker.

Chalky (though not off puttingly so), medium body with gentle carbonation. Cherries, earthy oak and a lactic sour bite keep things interesting in the finish.

If this is what we can expect now that Wicked Weed has a foeder then there are some great beers ahead! The woodsy character brings alot to Cherry Go Lightly and those cherries play off of that quite nicely. For anyone on the fense, this is a good one to try.
