Bottle shared at home. Clear dark-ruby pour with a thin pink head with decent retention. Smells like blackberries, strawberries, bubblegum, vanilla, oak. The taste notes include blackberries, oak, quite strong pine resin / rosemary, lemon zest, mint, gin. A very nice combination of sour and barrel-aging components. Medium tartness, medium carbonation, medium mouthfeel, overall quite balanced.

Look: Deep burgundy red with a light purple head. Mild activity.

Smell: Tart sour funk, blackberries, oak, citrus lemon, floral botanicals, and a sweet sour finish.

Taste: A peppery gin greets the palate with a huge rush of botanical with notes of rose, mint, white peppercorn, and juniper berry. Then lemon zest cuts through with fresh tart blackberries. Oak shows on the finish with more botanicals.

Feel: Tart and funky but not overly acidic. A nice bright tart. Medium body. Remarkably light for the ABV. Good carbonation.

Overall: A very fresh and funky sour. I really enjoy that you get a lot of gin on this sour as it adds an interesting complexity to the fruited sour. Something that could have been gimicky but instead comes through calculated and fresh. Outstanding.

Bottle drank the other night.

This one pours a wonderful reddish-purple, sort of opaque, with a half inch head, and a bit of lacing.

Smells like lemon peel, lots of sweet and sour blackberry, with a nice acidity. Not much in the way of funk on the nose.

This is a nice fairly sour fruited wild ale. The sourness is about 5/10 on the scale, with some nice clean lemon flavors, and a bit of blackberry. The acidity is nice, not overpowering, and pretty clean. This is very drinkable. I don't get any gin, or much in the way of funk, but that's ok.

This is clean, with a juicy mouthfeel, and a normal level of carbonation.

One of the better sours I've had from Wicked Weed, thoroughly enjoyable.

Pours a deep purple amber that is highly hazy. Medium pink white head that settles to a thin rim. Aroma is bright and tangy, essence of blackberry and raspberry, with lactic notes. First sip is a blast of sour, but mellows after that. Smooth and complex, nice blending of the berry, citrus and light gin. Delicious!

500mL bottle into a Teku
Bottled on: 1/24/16

A: Pours a very pretty ruby color, translucent, with 2+ fingers head of pink-tinged head. Head dissipates down fairly quickly to a thin film and leaves a few small patches of lacing. Beautiful beer. 4.5

S: Aroma is very unique. There's the typical lacto-type sour notes, a good amount of blackberry and some lemon citrus. But then theres also this earthy, almost wild-game type aroma, presumably also from wild yeast/bacteria. I actually drink a fair amount of gin, but I have to say I get almost no gin notes on the aroma. 4

T: Tastes significantly better than the aroma. Its quite tart, almost puckering at time. Tons of berry, and a grape character. The gin barrel is noticeable with a biting pine/juniper. Fair amount of lactic acidity with citrusy lemon. Some plastic-like funk notes This beer is killer, probably my favorite wicked weed sour to date. 4.5

M/D: Medium body, carbonation on the higher end which is approprite, ABV is on the higher end for the style but you wouldn’t have guessed it; drinkability is excellent. 4.5

O: Great beer. Seek this out. 4.5

This delicious beer pours a purpleish-ruby color that has quite a dark hue to it. I admittedly did not pour this particularly hard, but had a small amount of foam on top that didn't last long, and there is no lacing left as I drank. Lovely in color, not worth much else past that. The smell is that of a sweet blackberry, the sweetness is probably enhanced by the lemon in this case. Whatever fruit is brought to the table though, is completely cloaked by gin and slight oak. I am not a gin drinker, but the effect on this brew is excellent... It doesn't bring all of its trademark bittermess but just a touch to add an excellent layer of taste. The feel is above average but not much different than their other sours... relatively thick with little carbonation. That feel, plus the sweetness, tartness, bitterness and the earthy flavor that accompany all WW sours are pulled off to perfection in this beer, making it their best "...non..." Angel series beer to date. Well done!!!
