Notes / Commercial Description:
The Parking Lot Grissette is a foeder-aged, tart farmhouse ale brewed in collaboration with our friends at Jester King Brewery. Like so many of our ideas, this rustic beer, dry-hopped with Mandarina Bavaria and Huell Melon, was dreamed up in a parking lot session during a climbing trip with our Texas friends.

16.9 oz. bottle poured into tulip
(bottled on 1/15/2016)

L: gold with a bit of amber in it; pushes up thick head of offwhite foam, at least a full inch tall, maybe a bit taller, and a little sticky at the top; keeps a thick collar; mostly clear brew, at least 80% clear with just a slight mistiness, no debris off careful pour

S: funkfest ... tart lemon peel, lime peel, something grassy and all kinds of musty wood barn aroma; also has some sweet orange mixing with tart lemon juice; oak ... not charred or old wooden floor oak but rather growing green twigs broken off a live oak, "green" oak; as it warms, the sweetness raises a notch ... orange and slight biscuit malt sweetness; it doesn't get better than this

T: earthy tart lemon peel, lemon, a drop of lime juice, musty oak barn and dust off some dried grain sacks, a little tart orange

F: lots of carbonation and a decent bit of weight, though overall comes off light and pleasant ... perfect

O: Wicked Weed and Jester King have cooked up a beauty ... I could drink this all year long and never grow tired of it, so many different notes mixing with a solid earthy farmhouse base; I'd love to try a fresh bottle to see how much sweeter it might be, though this semi-dry six-month-old version is fantastic; what our American farmhouse/wild ales are all about

Draft pour, deep amber, hazy. Hoppy nose with more of a juicy profile along with lacto. Taste is coming in lacto first, dry, and mild bitterness from the hops. Medium feel and carbonation.

Poured from the bottle into a Wicked Weed globe glass. Bottled Jan 15th 2016.

Dark amber brown to orange, almost looking into dark biere de garde territory but certainly reminds me of one appearance wise. Opaque. Soapy two finger head with good retention and very soapy cupped collar while settling.

Garden herbs, and funky yeast give a solid aroma with some real nice floral touches. Sweet tropical notes and citrus orange qualities also come out as well with a nice balance between the two contrasting flavors. A little bit malt sweet smelling, even sort of reminds me of cherry a bit. Very nice bouquet going on here.

Palate goes for more simplicity. Light grissette feel but still manages to give a decent malt depth and flavor for the palate. Chewy grapefruit sour rindy zest a bit in the mid palate, mixing in with garden herbs slightly. Finishes with a bit of mild hop bitterness and hinting juicy hop flavors of citrus orange and tropical fruit.

A pretty easy drinking flavorful Grissette, with a nice real solid complimenting hop flavor.

Hazy orange hue under a solid head of soapy, of-white cream. Aromas of wood and funk upfront - wet earth, mellow citrus zest, peppercorns, and herbs. Flavor opens with a lemony tartness followed by floral, grape, and berry notes with some oaky dryness in the background. A little juicy sweetness keeps the deep funk at bay and plays well with the tartness and hops. Light, crisp, dry feel. The nose is borderline too-stinky, but the flavor is delightful, so it's an enjoyable experience all around.

500 ml bottle
Served in a beer flute
Bottled On: 01.15.16

This beer pours amber in color with burnt orange highlights. It is topped with two inches of beige head that leaves some decent lacing.

It has a tart and funky aroma.

The tastes starts out tart and fruity. There is some dank basement funk on the back end with a dry finish.

Medium bodied with prickly carbonation.

I thought this beer would be a little more sour from the initial smell. I did like the tartness and funkiness of this beer. It is well made and refreshing.

Consumed 4/30/16

Cheers to Bilco for the bottle, cheers to Goblinmunkey7 for sharing it

A: Medium to burnt orange with some honey highlights - hazy - pours with a medium sized, frothy white head, fades to a wispy cap, maintains a medium collar and leaves some spots of lacing

S: This is a noseful of funk - more specifically, the aroma seems dominated by Jester King yeasty funk, which is not a bad thing (this just smells more like a Jester King beer than a Wicked Weed beer) - musty, damp cellar, barnyard, hay funk - hints of pepper, yeasty spice - some citrus - floral citrus, flowers - some grass - touch of melon and melon rind - green grapes - pale malts at the base, but mostly this is about the funk

T: Not as much funk as the aroma, more fruit - citrus, with some orange and touches of lemon - very floral, flowery, with a touch of grass - yeasty, with some yeast funk and light spice - tart melon - touch of sour - peppery - some pale malts and grain, minimal sweetness

M: On the light side of medium, medium carbonation, nicely crisp, dry finish

O: Pave paradise

This is a nice saison/grisette/vaguely sour creation. It's nicely tart with a lot of interesting fruit flavors. Worth a try.

Pours a fizzy light orange, with average carb for the style. Nice citrusy, and funky notes on the nose. Lemon, a bit of orange, and damp hay. A very nice, gentle tartness coats the tongue, and dries out at the finish, leaving me wanting another sip. Just the right amount of carbonation.

Much more tart than the other WW saisons I've had. I'm guessing JK's yeast has a significant influence. This reminded me of a HF saison, but it's not quite as clean and is a bit rougher around the edges. Still a very nice, tart, table beer.
