Another nice sour from Wicked Weed. This one has pomegranate and hibiscus, and both are noticeable in the flavor, lending a muskiness and herbal note to the sourness. The body is a bit thin, but overall this is a winner.

Wicked Weed Pom Roselle
On tap at the Funkatorium
Pours a pinkish Amber, only the smallest pink tinged white head, no retention and little lacing. Aroma is oaky, plastic like funk. Only subtle fruit, not much at all. Taste is pretty light, decent amount of fruit, pomegranate is noticeable. Pretty funky, very little tart/sour notes, more fruit than the aroma. Medium bodies, big carbonation. Overall good beer, but middle of the tier for WW. That being said I would gladly drink this anytime.

you dont see a lot of pomegranate in beer these days, and the ones where it is there, are cheap and sweet tasting, shandy types and such, this is decidedly evolved, and a cool use of this fruit, surprisingly enough not at all overpowered by the hibiscus, which has a tendency to do that, especially with lighter fruits, and especially in wild beer (at least in my experience). clear deep pink color, slightly floral aroma, notes of green apple, new oak, generic red berry, light citric tang, and a delicate pils malt type cereal quality. the flavor of the base beer is pretty mild here, the fruit and hibiscus really stand out. its not sweet, but there is more pomegranate here than i remember in any beer out there. its got some wine-like properties of its own, cherry juice, melted popsicle. the hibiscus works well with it, keeping it in front longer and adding that delicate floral element its famous for. less funk than it smells like it should have, more acidity, and a bit light on carbonation, especially compared to some of the other more expressive beers in this series. i am amazed at how high quality all of these beers are considering how many they make. this is clever and well done, and seems nicely timed to kick off the holiday season!

This was a very nice beer, quite pleasant, but it didnt strike me as amazing in any way. it was also 16 dollars for a 500ml...
Pours a pretty red color, not deep red. The aroma and flavor are fruity, but not super fruity. I like how tart it is, middle of the road, but its pretty one dimensional
overall, good

Appearance - Pours semi-transparent reddish color with thin white head that very quickly dissipates leaving no head and a small amount lacing around the glass.
Smell - Lots of funk, straw, grass. I get a slight amount of fruitiness, little bit of a vinegar smell. I noticed as it warms a bit the fruit and funk smell equal out, it is still funk forward.
Taste - The pomegranate comes out a little more in the flavor than I smelled, nice funky farm fresh taste. I did not get a lot of floral smells or taste as advertised but I don’t think that is a bad thing although I did get more in the taste since I got none in the smell.
Feel - Pretty tart, nice carbonation, lighter body pretty dry on the finish.
Overall – I really liked this beer, great flavors nice funk mixed with the pomegranate pretty light feel and beautiful in the glass.
