Pours cloudy dark brown with a dense creamy light khaki colored foam head. Smells like toasty toffee, creamy bready malts, sweet caramel, molasses, vanilla, chocolate, Belgian candy sugar, oak, fresh plums, currants, apricot, apple, pear, dark fruits, berry jam, red and black grapes, subtle spice, with floral grassy earthy hops. Tastes like mildly tart fresh plums and currants, some chocolate, mild char, tobacco leaf, cigar box, red grapes, black grapes, dark fruits, berry jam, apple, pear, apricot, Belgian candy sugar, vanilla, sweet caramel, toasty toffee, creamy bready malts, oak foeder, spice, with floral grassy earthy hops. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy with smooth moderate carbonation. Overall a nice foeder-aged Belgian strong dark ale with plums, currants and Belgian candy sugar.

wood aged, weirdly yeasty, fruited strong ale with plums and currants and some stuff, strange but awesome, nice to see some wicked weed stuff on tap again, i feel like its been basically since their little announcement that all the buzz and hype and stoke on their stuff has been gone, but good to see them coming back around, and based on this one, the beer quality isnt suffering any. mid brown to this one with some light purple berry tones to it, a short and short lived head, and a neat nose of lightly funky belgian yeast, red wine, oak, sweet prune, and blackberry. some brown sugar and molasses notes to it, sweet for sure, but less boozy than it seems like it should be at this abv, and with a lot of body, but also a lot of carbonation, still squarely belgian feeling. the wood part is weird because it introduces some tannins it seems, as well as some curious funk, but the wood itself is great. there is a jammy fruitiness to this, astringent currents in front of plums for me, but a lot of both right in the center of this, some residual sugar, yeast esters, and oaky booze to finish it off. a really interesting and different beer, complex is an understatement, awesome as it warms, and a nice reboot for these guys in my head. if bud or their subsidiary or whoever made this, its still excellent!

On tap at the Pour Taproom in Greenville.
Pours with a very dark reddish-brown colored body that has some clarity. It's topped with a short, semi-durable, beige head.
Aroma: complex mix of dark dried fruits, red wine and light spices.
The flavor largely follows, with a more pronounced impact of the red wine barrel aging. Mild bitterness and lightly tannic.
Overall: an odd variant on the style with well hidden ABV.

L: Poured an opaque cocoa color from a 12.7 oz bottle dated 03/24/17 into a 10 oz. tumbler. No visibly rising bubbles, negligible creamy head immediately fades to some lingering lacing around the glass.

S: Nothing nuanced....just the Belgian candy sugar.

T: Towards oxidized, but I think on purpose? Tart, sharp, a little metallic, sweet dark fruit and granny smith apple. A little soy or balsamic on the back.

MF: Medium body, subtle carbonation. The beer coats the tongue. Went down more like a dubbel, but.....

Overall: I hated the finish. The flavors just don't meld. The plums and currents are not forward, which is fine, but the flavors they lend just taste off.

pours an opaque dark brown with a small head that poofs. nose; yeast, bread, sweet berry, & plum. taste; bready malt, tart currant, toffee, plum, green apple, & light grassy hops. medium carbonation & mouthfeel. currant runs the show here and puts this into an almost sour beer category. not my favorite.

Appearance - Pours deep purplish color with thin tan head that dissipates quickly. Not much lacing

Aroma - Dark fruit plum, fig the candied sugar and yeast stand out. Nice sweet but slightly tart smell.

Taste - The taste is much less sweet than the aroma. Picking up sour dark fruit, yeast a hint of vinegar with a bitter finish.

Feel - Medium bodied, tart and pretty dry finish. Good carbonation.

Overall - The aroma was promising but the taste left something to be desired. I was not expecting it to be so tart and sour.

A-dark mahogany brown with a fingers worth of cream colored head

S-chocolate, dark fruits, Belgian spices

T-tart fruits and a bit sour, dark fruits, Belgian spices

M-medium body and light carbonation

Overall a bit on the sour/tart side for me, but still has enough of the Belgian Quad characteristics in it
