Growler into pint glass. Pours an oily dark, dark brown with a gorgeous tan head. Not much lacing. Initial impression is milk chocolate, coffee, and a hint of dark fruits. Mouthfeel is thick and smooth. Finish fades to sweet chocolate and burnt malt. Overall,a very enjoyable Imperial Stout!

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown / almost black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored, fairly long-lasting head. Not much lacing to speak of.

S: A very nice aroma of coffee, booze, malt, chocolate, and caramel.

T: Tasted of a good amount of dark malt (present throughout, though subtle), some caramel notes (just a hint of sweetness), a bit of dark fruit (raisins, in particular), a lot of coffee (less than expected, but still present), a good amount of chocolate (quite sweet), and some whiskey. A rock solid, well-constructed flavor. Pretty tasty.

F: An average amount of carbonation with a super smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A very solid, easy to drinks stout. Worth a look.

Showing many signs of infection. Thin. Astringent. Hint of tartness. If you have this I would say drink it asap because I can only imagine this is going to get worse quickly.

Fantastic head production and insane retention for the style. Long after the pour, about 1/8" is still topping the bold dark brew. Nice lacing as well.

Nose absolutely nails the profile: bourbon, coffee, earthy hops, chocolate, red grapes, brown sugar, caramel, dark fruit.

Flavor follows. It's a touch fizzy and boozy up front. Primary first tones are brown sugar and red grapes, but the bourbon comes on nicely on the second third. Nice coffee finish, mingling with brown sugar and mash. Oaky aftertaste. All of the flavors of the nose, really, tend to mingle on the back end.

A touch fizzy, but very smooth; medium-to-full bodied. Finish is deceptively long.

Appearance - Pours black with nice tan head that settles to a thin ring and film across the top. A couple spots of lacing.

Aroma - I am not sure I have picked up the coffee aroma in a WW beer that I get in this one. It is almost a sweet smell, maybe it is the combination of the bourbon barrels and the coffee but regular Dark Age does not have a sweet aroma like this. Roasted malts, coffee, toffee, molasses, chocolate, bourbon. I am not sure I have had a coffee stout that smelled this sweet either.

Taste - The coffee flavors I am used to are more noticeable in the taste. Great cold coffee with a touch of vanilla, bourbon very mild though, oak, roasted malts and chocolate. The same sweetness sticks out in the taste that I detected in the aroma.

Feel - Medium bodied, carbonation is nice, little heat from the alcohol.

Overall - this is much different than some of the other coffee stouts I have had. I think it is just a little sweeter which works well.

Poured into a tulip glass. An opaque dark brown color with a fairly thick tan head. Impressive retention for a BA stout. The nose featured coffee up front, followed by faint bourbon and vanilla. Really coffee-forward on the palate but not overly astringent or bitter. The chocolate and whiskey blended nicely. Some faint fruity notes from the coffee. No char or overly roasty notes. Full bodied and not overly sweet. Overall a great coffee BA stout, with exceptional coffee IMO.
