Pours out a dark amber color with ruby highlights and some off-white head.

The smell has a decent hop profile of citrusy, grassy notes as well as grapefruit and orange. There is a nice caramel malt note along with some slightly bready notes.

The taste is also pretty hoppy; plenty of citrus hop notes, grapefruit and orange and earthy/grassy notes along with a decent amount of bitterness. The caramel malt comes in middle of the mouth and adds a slight sweetness that balances the bitterness from the hops.

The mouthfeel is slightly creamy and the body is light-medium. Finishes pretty dry and clean.

Overall, this is a really nice first attempt at a hoppy Red Ale. It's not my favorite style, but they did a good job and it reminds me of Three Floyds Brian Boru.

Pours into an impy nonic a deep bronze color with a thinner but well sustained off white head atop, aromas of nutty malt anf lighter piney hops, some brown sugar-like sweetness is there as well.Nutty malts with some caramel sweetness at the onset of the palate, some earthy and piney hops come in the finish.Iam a huge fan of the old school left coast hoppy reds, this falls just a little short of the best examples but it's still a good offering from to me the best brewery in NC right now.

330 ml bottle served in a lager glass. Label describes this as a red IPA at 7% ABV and displays a bottled date of 23 Sept. 2015.

Looks as expected and as hoped: reddish amber body with visible carbonation topped with a very durable light tan head that leaves patterned lacing.

Aroma & Flavor: Closer to an IPA than to a typical amber, this does have low bitterness for an IPA. The flavor is quite a bit more malty than a typical IPA. The hops create suggestions of citrus fruits and spruce trees in the aroma.

Feel: near full bodied with soft, medium+ carbonation. Nicely smooth yet lively.

A: American hop aroma with malt sweetness.
A: burgundy/brown with cream white head, dissipates into thin ring.
T: hints of fresh roasted peanuts, big American hook flavor balances with appropriate level of malt and caramel sweetness.
O: Good hoppy American red ale. I'd look for this one again. Well done.

Look; This pours a strong reddish orange with a nice two finger off-white head.
Smell; Very strong tropical fruit hops, slightly dank. Very sweet malt base seems present,
Taste; More of a piney/resinous taste than suggested by the smell, still a good pineapple and grapefruit wallop, followed by a slight sweet malt finish.
Feel; Medium feel, nicely carbonated, a bit of a lingering bitter aftertaste.
Overall; Another excellent beer from the fine folks at Wicked Weed. One of the better Amber/Red Ales I've had.

Poured from growler into glass.

A: Mosaic of Brown, Golden and red... Lovely rich clean color. Semi-transparent. One finger head that fades and lingers in patches throughout consumption.

S: Dank. Clean. Mildly pungent. Not a ton going on but nothing offensive either.

T: Big, piny hop profile that hits you up front. Candied bitterness that lingers. Grapefruit. Slight roast. Savory.

M: Pretty aggressive bitterness leeches to the cheeks and tongue. Medium bodied. Creamy.

O: One of the better hoppy red/ambers I have tried. I really enjoy this style and this one is top level... especially if you love a pretty aggressive bitter hop profile. There is more depth to this beer however than just over the top bitter... Nice layer of soft, juicy creaminess that makes takes this up to excellent IMO.

Look is a very dark amber bordering on brown with an inch head.

Aroma is rich roast malt with a slight herbal maybe a little orange.

Lotta malt sweetness running through this entire beer. Hops takes a little longer to shine. Definitely less citrus more bitter herb.

Very nice balance for a hoppy red ale.

dark plum red, rusted steel. Very light head and carbonated just right. Smells like citrus, tons of citrus and passion fruit. Great clean, crisp hopiness and taste of grapefruit rind, orange, slight lemon as well. Great smooth, malt backbone with just enough body. I usually don't enjoy red ales but I figured I would give this a shot since Wicked Weed has yet to disappoint. And I got to give it to them, well done. Would drink this again and again
