5 oz pour on tap. The reason for the "overall" score being higher than the individual components is that 1.) There is an impressive amount of cucumber flavor in this beer, and 2.) Despite being a novelty beer with highly unusual flavor it is quite drinkable.

- Golden ale brewed with cucumber, basil, and juniper berries.

A: Bright Bengal tiger orange coloring has a small dense haze factor with a light and loose mention of effervesce. Milky froth head is slight in size, but well holding, providing a faint reminder with a lightly decorated vessel.

S: Fresh wet cucumber and lime is fairly aggressive on the open along with some dry pear. Fresh Romanian lettuce (yeah its a first for me too), along with some fresh basil. Finally there is some stemmy greens and berries, along with some yeasty honeydew and spicy orange blossoms. Good awareness factor and unique nose.

T: Spicy nutmeg and pears on the open for flavor, along with some yeasty cinnamon applesauce notes, and sweet peaches. Pie crust malt, lightly dry, along with fresh wet basil and sweet honeydew. The cucumbers are there, but much more faint and reserved.

M: Medium body, milky thick, spicy and smooth feel. Buttery nature.

O: Overall a sweet golden ale with some caramel peaches, cinnamon applesauce and breakfast fruit. There is some cucumbers involved but mostly with the aromatics, so this remains a sweet golden ale but low key in alcohol. Sweet and fruity and alot of flavor going on, unique and innovative.

Pours to a thin head and hazy straw gold. Aroma is juniper berries and basil. Flavor is clean blonde ale and much more basil and juniper. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing. Overall, it is a bit stronger than I would like on flavor but the flavors work well with paninis or any other Italian fare.

I'll try anything with an unusual combination of ingredients, and most of the time I'm left unimpressed. Going with a golden ale instead of a gose to showcase the cucumber, juniper, and basil was an interesting choice, and it panned out exceptionally well. The golden ale base provides a smooth, light background that introduces the ingredients way more gently than a tart, zippy sour. It hits that balance of tasting just enough like beer to not feel like juice, and it's right in that sweet spot between too heavy and too light. If I lived in Wicked Weed's distro, this would be a staple!

The clear golden yellow colored beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 1/2” head that recedes to a cover on the liquid and then eventually a thin irregular island of foam and a small ring around the glass. Sipping creates some scattered patches of lacing, some of which cling to the sides of the glass.

While not particularly intense, the aromas definitely include light touches of basil, juniper and cucumber.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with the juniper and basil nicely blended with some light malt sweetness and a touch of cucumber.

The mouthfeel is on the light side of medium bodied and slightly prickly with the moderate carbonation. The finish begins as the juniper, basil and sweetness begin to fade allowing a the light cucumber flavor to become more noticeable in the clean crisp slightly grassy and bitter ending.

This beer has an interesting and unique flavor profile that works better than I’d expected. Overall this is an enjoyable and drinkable beer that is both clean, crisp and refreshing. That all said, it’s more of a novelty act for me than something I’d have regularly.
