First time at Wicked Weed. Bright yellowy good pour. Just a thin layer of white with some minimal lacing.

Aroma, mild ginger and sage type spice and yeast notes. Just some minor stone fruit.

Taste more earthy spice, some light funk. Some light caramel covered fruit for the malt backbone. Finished fairly dry.

Lighter body, enough carbonation. Maybe a tad thin, but it is a light Saison to begin with. A real good drinker, but nothing real overwhelming. Good summer brew and a good not real sweet Saison.

First beer at Wicked Weed

A- pours a clear light pale wheat color with a small, fast settling head, leaving no lace

S- vegetal aromas of beet and ginger, slightly phelonic yeast with an earthy tone

T- the jicama and beets are noticeable up front, providing vegetal flavors, traditional Saison yeast flavors mid-palate, refreshing ginger kick on the finish provides a light spicyness with a dry finish

M- light bodied, light carbonation, spritzy and refreshing finish

O- an interesting take on the style, the beers and jicama added an interesting vegetal flavor, yet kept it crisp and refreshing

Rooted Saison has the look of a classic, transparent gold pilsener, with the exception of some crazy ass lacing.

Smells like a full on feast roasting in the kitchen, potatoes, carrots, savory spices and even a turkey.

However, it does not feel heavy on the palate, and these flavors aren't overwhelming. If anything it is more subdued in the taste.

There is a little grass, parsnip, salt and a pinch of ginger.

Served on-tap at Wicked Weed Brewing in Asheville, NC

A: Pours a lightly hazy pale straw yellow in color with very light amounts of visible carbonation and some hints of yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall fizzy bright white head that quickly reduces to a medium sized patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Very light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light aromas of ginger along with root vegetables (turnip/parsnip). Light amounts of black pepper yeast spiciness.

T: Upfront the beer has earthy root vegetable flavors of turnip/parsnip and jicama which is followed by the black pepper flavors of the yeast. That is followed by light to moderate amounts of ginger spiciness in the finish.

M: Light bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Definitely an interesting saison and possibly the first one I have experienced that was brewed with root vegetables. I enjoyed this one and I would probably have another.
