Wicked Weed is one impressive operation and probably the most interesting beer coming out of Asheville (or even all of NC) right now. Taking a cue from Dogfish Head and others they really swerve at times and create some unique brews that you won't get anywhere else in the area.

Large outdoor area leads into a long hallway, roughly twelve tabs at the expansive bar and lots of long Old-Europe style tables and booths line the front. Place was packed while I was there, there is an open kitchen in the back. Down the stairs is their private brew-house room that has even more unique beer and some pretzels. That's for the true die-hards as that's where the rare stuff is.

I had an IPA, a super light wheat and their Peach Ale. All very nice, the Peach in particular was suprisingly good, no food but it looked solid and Asheville has great food all around so I'm sure it stood up.

Service? The one drawback of this place, and other reviews have mentioned it, is that it's really the only beer place in Asheville where you will get some douche attitude from the staff. A fellow patron of mine was new to craft beer and had some basic questions and was treated with a roll of the eyes and some surliness from the otherwise nice bartender. Didn't really think that was called for.

Anyway, this place is well worth a stop, it gets crowded so come at off times. Probably the best beer in town. By the way, make sure to stop by and see a show at the Orange Peel next door, one of the best rock clubs in the country.

Interior is much larger than it appears from the outside, with high ceilings and plenty of seating space--that doesn't make it easy to get a seat around lunchtime, even on a Monday! Rustic and woody, the interior has plenty of natural light, but the dark wood seems to suck some of that out and keep it a little more cozy. The kitchen is visible behind glass, and they also have a downstairs area that I didn't check out.

Service is a little lacking, especially if you are unlucky enough to get stuck at the gigantic communal table which just really needs to go as these things are fucking irritating and service never quite works smoothly surrounding them. If places are going to offer communal seating, they should just stop trying to pretend they can service those tables and force people to get up to place their own orders. Either way, for this location, it just seems like they don't have enough people.

Tap list was pretty vast, especially when augmented by the in-house bottle list. And then when you also can walk right over to the bottle shop and pick up at least 20 different beers of almost any style, this is an excellent beer stop. The beer was excellent as always, as it's fun to experiment and try different things at Wicked Weed.

The food seemed pretty darn tasty, if not your basic, trendy brewpub food. We only had chips and dip, which was very clearly handmade and delicious.

We were there around the holidays. Very upbeat place with a lot of Wicked Weed beers. They offered free samples and pretzels. The food with good and the service was quick as well as accurate. Had growlers and bottles of many beers available.

Nice indoor and outdoor spaces. Good selection of their beers. Was there for the 4yr anniversary party so there was an extra tap station for some BA brews. A top brewery in Asheville.

Vibe: The place has a nice laid-back mountain lodge feel which was cool. The customer base was diverse and I could see families, hipsters, business people, couples, and older individuals all sitting around enjoying the atmosphere without being out of place. The staff was nice to everyone there. Seating is a bit awkward as I was told booths are only allowed for parties larger than six and the chairs are just hard wood. They do have a wall of half-booth-half-chair tables. There is also fire heated outdoor seating which is nice.

Quality: The beer is served in appropriate glassware and they have some nice chic plates.

Service: It was odd that they had three booths, two of which were open, and still did not seat anyone in them. Policy is policy I guess but they never got filled the whole time I was there. The service otherwise was great, especially the waiter, complete with table-side bottle service, etc.

Selection: They have a great selection of their own beers on tap and out of the bottle, including a huge bottle selection from the Funkatorium.

Food: The food was cooked well and presented nicely but there wasn't any seasoning on any of it. They didn't have any salt or pepper shakers on the table either. Their menu was pretty simple consisting mostly of hamburgers and sandwiches. Go there for the beer but I really don't recommend their food.
