Clear dark amber brownish color in the pint shaker. Some grainy aromas. Average carbonation.
This starts out with some pleasant malty warmth with a sweet touch. Maybe it's the agave syrup. Also some dark roast malt and caramel flavors. A little winey and a little scratchy in the back of the throat. A tangy aftertaste. Reasonably drinkable if you like the maltier style, but I am not being convinced that agave is a good additive to beer from the several I've had.
On tap at the brewpub. Between the chalkboard, the printed beer list, and the website, it's a little informal as to what a particular batch is called. The ABV seems to vary between 5.6 and 6.2.

December 11th, 2013 - Thorn St.'s Agave Ale was an attractive option as I looked up upon Coin-Op's menu. I'd practically been drinking agave syrup over the last few weeks, decorating my yogurt with it to make a palatable dessert. And as soon as the beer was poured I began to see some similarities, especially in color, though not in clarity. The aroma is lightly hopped, with some of those sweet caramel notes, and, alas, no real agave, though I suppose the scent might be sweeter than one would expect otherwise. The body is medium in weight, and quickly rushes the tongue with toasted grains and cinnamon, with a slightly sweeter aftertaste. The palate comes across as a bit flat, given all the zesty sweet-spice, but the hops is nonetheless pronounced and active. Again, no agave here, but more than that, this brew falls a little flat, both in the mouthfeel and the overall experience.
