Poured from a 500ml swing-top growler that was filled at the brewery the same day, into a US tumbler glass.

A: The beer is a light yellowish gold color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains Belgian yeast, light caramelized malts, some hops and some citrus.

T: The taste starts out bready with a hearty but not too heavy malt character and Belgian yeast up front. Then a decent hops presence for the style comes in along with some citrus and caramel sweetness creating a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a decent beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.

Growler filled a few days ago. Used to be a huge fan of this style, and I think I just grew away from it as there were very few beers on the market that represented the style well. Glad to see it come back (and had to wait until after the U.S. Belgium game at World Cup last night).

Pours a bubbled fizzy 1/2 finger head that fades fairly quickly, not the best head but not too bad for a growler fill, touches of spotty lacing, over super murky honey sludge orange colored beer.

Nose brings nice bright Belgian yeast additions right out front, plenty of fruity esters, bubblegum, some mild phenols and spices, faint touch of what could be booze or just the phenols. Eventually as it warms the hops finally come through, was a bit too cold from the fridge. some citrus, orange zest, grapefruit pith, quite pithy, nice grapefruit orange juice like blend, little general fruity hop note, and even a floral hop character as well.

Taste is quite nice as well, big Belgian yeast additions right off, big time fruity esters all over, with a nice phenolic but not a lot also bringing mild spices and peppery like notes. That again overpowers the hops a bit, but not a ton. Hops cut through bringing a little orange rind and grapefruit pith again, little citrus flesh into an orange grapefruit juice blend again. It brings a mild sweet toasty malt underneath, that also even seems to have some honey character, and touch of a sweet candy note but not a lot. Hops bring a mild to med bitterness, with just a little floral note as well, actually turns a little more flowery on the back end. Finish is a bit sticky sweet, attempts to dry, more esters, touch of phenols, mild citrus fruity hops, very little bitterness lingering.

Mouth is med bod, lighter but decent carb for growler. Would have liked a bit more carbonation for this style especially.

Overall pretty nice, really like the nice blend of big fruity esters, good touch of phenols and spice notes, blended with the citrus fruit hops, orange, grapefruit pith, etc, nice bitterness, well rounded and blended nicely, very tasty and drinkable. Only gripes are the lack of carbonation even though growler, this style deserves a bit more effervescent carbonation, and maybe bring the hops out a bit more to the forefront,, but big props for not making a "Belgian IPA" where you can't even get the Belgian yeast cause it's so much bitter spicy heavy hops <cough> <cough> Raging Bitch <cough> oh excuse me...

Thanks to JLindros for sharing.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a hazy dark straw hue with a thin white head that fades to leave a thin halo and wisps.

S - Aromas of nice Belgian esters, light citrus, faint malts, decent.

T - Taste is biscuits, malts, Belgian esters, light citrus, mostly biscuit. Nice faint hops but powerful notes. Tasty.

M - Mouthfeel is very light carbonation but quite sessionable.

O - Overall this beer was really good drinking, nice Belgian notes with faint hip presence. Tasty.
