Got this beer from buddy at FFB draft. It poured a clear golden with white head that is not leaving any lace. The scent is cinnamon and chocolate. The taste followed suit. The Mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation . Overall it's worth a try.

Nothing mind-blowing, especially compared to Cigar City's horchata nitro. But unlike that beer, this one is widely available and only $8 per six-pack, whereas the Cigar City is basically nonexistent except in Florida. It doesn't take exactly like horchata, more like Taco Bell cinnamon twists or a churro, which is definitely still a good flavor. Very light beer in every aspect from body to ABV to aroma to flavor, substantially carbonated. A solid thirst quencher and good in the heat or post-run. Any misgivings I have about it are because I'm an openly biased stout/porter drinker, but it would be fine for most people.

This beer is certainly unique. At first I was a little skeptic because it's a blue moon... But I was pleasantly surprised. I got aromas of cinnamon, but also slight saki aromas from the rice. This is a very unique tasting beer as it tastes like sweet cinnamon that is not too overwhelming mixed with a rice flavor. This blends well with the light taste of beer. If you have never tasted horchata, this beer pretty much nailed it. Great job by Blue Moon, I would recommend and I would buy again. If you haven't tried this, it's worth it why not.

From a 12 ounce can...this is a hazy gold color with a very slight head. The aroma a is fully cinnamon spice. It smells more like a winter cinnamon spiced drink than a beer. The taste is semi-sweet, with a bit of malt, but the taste is all cinnamon. Medium in body. This could be a much better beer, but it is interesting.

At the request of my wife we went ahead and tried it. Pours real nice and looks great in a glass. I don't have the best nose so I wasn't particularly into the fragrance. From first to last tasting I was not digging it. My wife loved it at first till I started to point a few things out. I tasted no hops or malt or anything else but sweet cinnamon and other artificial horchata flavors. I like Horchata. I don't like it in my beer.

It taste like it's name but in a very one dimensional way.

The body has a decent mouth feel, relatively dry finish. The flavors are cinnamon, pale ale, and sweet. It just lacks a cohesive flavor and doesn't develop beyond the first layer of flavors.

Its drinkable but forgettable. Would I drink it again: No.

Brown bottle dated "MAY1616" poured into a glass.

Murky gold color with brown or dull orange tint, depending on light. Head white, lasted only a little bit. Prominent cinnamon smell; at first it smelled like mulled apple cider, but after a couple whiffs I also got a sour ale smell beneath that. Taste: sweet, mild, and again more than a bit like apple cider (I do like cider, but do I like beer to taste like cider...?). It's foamy and not too strongly flavored; at least there's no single strong off note. The only sharp / edgy flavor hits first and then fades, but overall it's malt and apples, with cinnamon and perhaps some other spice. It gives a very soft impression, both in taste and mouthfeel. Indeed, the mouthfeel is almost fluffy. After a few mouths full, it is growing on me.

Brewmaster’s Seasonal Sampler 12-pack - $12.99 at Kroger in Woodstock, Georgia

Appearance: Pours a near clear, light yellow body with a very small, thin white head.

Smell: Ever so slightly sweet-scented with a spoonful of fairly fragrant cinnamon powder.

Taste: A subtle, clean, faintly bready maltiness with a firm cereal sweetness and big helping of powderized cinnamon backed by a little rice (more than anticipated initially). Scant, ill-defined tangy fruitiness. Remains spicy and sweet beyond the finish into the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: While it falls short of its namesake horchata, it is evocative of one's childhood cereal, namely Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

12 oz. Bottle poured into shaker pint.
Look - Golden in color, head starts out full bodied yet fades quickly. Bits of lacing left around the glass.
Smell - Sweet cinnamon and malt. Hint of cooked rice. Vanilla.
Taste - Cinnamon, hint of the cooked rice, malts .
Feel - Slight creaminess, followed by a crisp, clean finish.
Overall - Surprisingly delicious beer. Went well with chicken enchiladas. Happy to drink this one again This one makes their winter pack worth seeking out..

Pours a clear, gold color. 2/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of strong cinnamon, slight sweet malt, slight hops, and a mixture of other spices (horchata inspired?). Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong cinnamon, strong spice mixture, hint of sweet malt, hint of hops, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, good appearance, aroma and body dominated by cinnamon, but still a good body.

I truly am not sure what is going on in the universe right now, but this beer is actually quite good for what it is. They say Cinnamon Horchata and that's what you get. Aromas of cinnamon, vanilla and sweet spice. Flavor is not overly sweet at all, nice amounts of cinnamon, vanilla and spices. I don't really get the 'Blue Moon' base at all (which I don't mind). Really quite nice.

L: Golden yellow color
S: Sweet cinnamon
T: Cinnamon horchata is well represented here. Sweet cinnamon flavor and a little malty.
F: Light and crisp mouthfeel
O: If you like cinnamon this is a beer for you (not the silly Fireball fake cinnamon). The description of the beer is spot on. Tastes just like you'd imagine. Would definitely recommend.

The description on the bottle states "ale with a subtly sweet yet spiced taste". If this is subtlety, I'm afraid to see what obvious is. Although a bit too strong, it tastes like a churro, which helps make it a fantastic dessert beer.

Pours a fairly opaque yellow with a good sized white head, which leaves behind no lace. It smells like cinnamon and spices. The taste starts with spices, before giving way to cinnamon. It has a delightful sweet taste, without being overwhelming. It feels quite nice, and easy to drink. Overall, I'm pleased with this ale. I would gladly sip on a bottle at a holiday celebration. Very impressed with how the flavors work together.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

Pours golden yellow with a thin fizzy head. Minimal lacing sticks.

The smell is of cinnamon roll with a subtle spice that I will assume is the horchata.

The taste is of some cinnamon, slight sweetness, slight spice, rather bland aftertaste.

Rather fizzy, but not too watery.

A decent light cinnamon-forward brew.

Appearance: Deep golden yellow in color, with a robust, somewhat coarse white head, with good retention, and massive, fine-beaded streams of slow-rising carbonation. Thick, irregular tidemarks of lacing adorn the glass walls.

Aroma: Cinnamon utterly dominates the aroma, although not unpleasantly, there is also a light grainy aroma.

Taste: The taste opens with a good wave of cinnamon, as well as caramel and pale malt. I am not sure what the spice profile of Blue Moon Cinnamon Horchata Ale, but I detect what I take to be notes of pepper as well. The pepper does not contribute much flavor, but does add a slight bite and a touch of heat. The taste concludes with a bready, cinnamon note, not unlike toast with cinnamon apple jelly.

Mouth feel: Smooth and pleasant, very soft to the touch.

Drinkability/notes: I liked this rather more than I expected to, I would certainly have it again.

Presentation: Packaged in a custom embossed twelve-ounce brown glass bottle with a twist-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Pours cloudy yellow color with thick white head that dissipates quickly leaving no lacing no head stays.
Smell is good mainly cinnamon hints some nutmeg and brown sugar when first poured it smelled just like a cinnamon roll.
Taste with such a strong cinnamon smell I expected a little more flavor but it was still good sweet cinnamon and brown sugar taste light crisp very clean.
Very light feel no after taste consistent flavor.
Overall a good beer this would be good for a bonfire light good flavor easy to drink.

I liked the taste of cinnamon in beer. Didn't recognize any horchata though. The look threw me off because I saw the added flavoring settled at the bottom of the bottle b4 opening it. Trying to mix it up only caused head to spill out the top after opening. That was the only drawback

Sampled from the holiday pack. Pours a hazy straw with 1/2 finger of head. Smell if primarily of cinnamon and toasted bread. Taste is similar with a clean finish. Basically a cream ale with cinnamon added. Reminded me of cinnamon toast crunch cereal.

Poured into a Stella Artois chalice.

Look: Completely opaque rusty yellow colored body with a light cream colored head that recedes to almost nothing. No lacing.

Aroma: Long-grain rice, subtle cinnamon.

Taste: Cinnamon and a milky cream flavor really carry the entire taste profile.

Mouthfeel: A bit watery, pretty light and carbonated.

Overall: Kind of all over the place. Tastes really good, but too watered down in every other area.

Sugar and cinnamon, fine by itself, probably also good with dessert. I'm about to have Cajun gumbo, I don't expect it to mix well. A murky gold color, frothy head, sugar, cinnamon, wheat. A light crisp mouthfeel cuts the sweetness. Quite enjoyable.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a golden amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades super-fast leaving just a hint of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a sweet cinnamon smell with tons of cinnamon, lots of brown sugar, and some heavy caramel smells as well. With these aromas comes some lighter wheat smells, which give the brew a rather inviting sweet churro like smell.

Taste – The taste begins very different then what I was expecting from the nose, it is actually heavier of a more crisp taste of rice and wheat mixed with some cinnamon. The cinnamon does increase as the taste advances with some lighter sweetness of a caramel and brown sugar nature coming to the tongue. A little bit of a yeasty and clove taste comes at the end, and mixes with the cinnamon spice and lighter sweet tastes to leave a crisp cinnamon taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. This creates a decently crisp profile for the surprisingly light sweet tastes of the brew and overall is fairly decent for making it easy drinking.

Overall – Not a bad cinnamon brew, but nothing to call home about. It was easy drinking, but somewhat lacking in complexity. Overall easier drinking for a heavily spiced cinnamon ale.
