Appearance: gold with a pretty good size head.
Aroma: orange and slight fruity smell
Taste: Very strong orange taste especially compared to normal blue moon which I think gives off a slight orange zest, malt, wheat note. Not balanced all that well.

Served from a bottle and poured into a pint glass.

12 oz. bottle with a June 2014 date stamped on the neck.
Pours clear amber with a large and creamy tan head that has good durability and leaves fine lacing on the glass.

The sweet aroma is malty and musty with hints of orange and yeast..

The flavor is a little subdued but balanced: light bready malts with hints of wheat, orange juice, orange pith and grapefruit.

Feel: Light-medium body with good, soft, medium-high carbonation.

O: slightly above average at best. Refreshing but perhaps best suited for transitional (towards craft beers) beer drinkers.

This pours a light orange hue with a thin fizzy head. It holds a bit of Orange on the nose with an apricot sweetness and an evident caramel malt. Caramel malt leads the taste with hints of Orange and apricot, sweetness from the fruity sugars and barley like grain. Certainly drinks easy but it's so thin it's hard rate it any higher. This comes across as the very definition of OK.

Poured from the bottle into a laser-etched Sam Adams glass.
Review from notes 3/9/2014.

A: Clear amber with microscopic head.

S: Malt and brown sugar.

T: Similar to a brown ale, tastes like it smells with some orange peel at the end.

M: Slight carbonation, appropriate.

O: Nice. Not as much of an orange taste as I was expecting, but a nice amber ale overall.

twist cap with a faint pssh sound. no build up, no 'fuerza!' just a limp-dick pssh... am I biased already? apparently....
no carbonation to speak of, no real head.... smell is frickin' corn crap.... why do I do this to myself??? gawd, there really is a difference in REAL craft beer and this swill.... ohh, but it's 5.9% ! ! ! ! typical adjunct garbage. prefer a miller lite to this crud. what a let down after that AWESOME velvet merlin I was so surprised of.... a friend of mine LOVES this stuff... blech!
say no more.

Amber in color with about one finger of foam. Smells like a nondescript, malty amber ale or lager. Bready, light caramel. Faint floral hoppiness is like a German lager. Not much of anything else, nor is any orange peel detectable at all.

Flavor is clean, again like a lager. Faint citrus character. Crisp, bitter finish. Fizzy carbonation. It's boring but inoffensive. Despite the "American Amber" moniker, don't expect anything close to a well-hopped amber. This is more like a Vienna Lager, and an uninspiring one at that.
