I had been hearing about FreeWheel for a while now and started seeing their bottles locally so I had to stop in. Boy was I happy we went, even after a great bottle release at another brewery that's known for big and modern CA beers.

Each of the traditional English styles we tried were either good or great. Most tended towards great. The cask pours were perfectly, naturally carbonated and at more or less prime temperatures. Everything except the Gold was exceptional; the ESB, stout, bitter, scottish...everything had a perfect nose and balance of taste. The stout was no normal English Stout...it had way more going on both in terms of flavor and aroma but still within the bounds of the original style.

They had a few other offerings that were great as well; possibly the most skunky yet crushable Kolsch I've ever had, a delicious and flavorful elderflower saison and a decent CA style Pale Ale. Service was stellar as well with what looked like great food and plenty of offerings right next door.

It's exciting to find such a quality brewery without the clamor of notoriety; I'm hoping to spend a lot more time there.

FSB is the kind of beer I've always looked for, easy drinking, unpretentious, yet still flavorful. Paired with Chef Benny's fish & chips, the pull draft cask FSB makes me feel as if I were transported to England. Freewheel, a must stop for craft beer enthusiasts!

All house cask brews use reverse-osmosis water made to match pH and taste with London's water.

Excellent Fish & Chips and other pub fare made by actual trained chefs. Kid's sizes available.

Many events fun events (live music, trivia nights, singles trivia, beer club) find the calendar. Family-friendly.

They have board games, ample parking and close around 10:00pm. Staff are mostly younger yet very professional. Owners are sometimes onsite to talk about brewing.

You have to like a brewpub that brews only cask-conditioned ales in the British style. My family and I went here on a Saturday for lunch. It wasn't crowded but right after we got one of the three samplers we ordered, several people appeared at the bar, so it was a while before we got the rest of our beer. I realized that the beer engine takes longer than the usual carbonated tap. We put in our food order and that was served fairly fast. The food was nicely done. The beer was good, although no one beer stood out. But I welcome the selection of cask-conditioned beers and the opportunity to enjoy different beers in this way.

This is an up and coming brewery near me that I really wanted to like. They had 5 beers, all made in house, all on cask. There was a pale ale, ESB, IPA, stout, and one other and I went with the sampler just because I've never had a few of those on cask. It was a slow day and the service was quick but not especially friendly. We ate outside on the patio overlooking the scenic parking lot and it was overall an okay experience. It's the closest brewery to me and I definitely plan to go back with my dog and have some food, maybe on one of the many nights they have music.

Stopped in while in Redwood Shores after a business conference.

Its located in a strip mall with decent amount of parking around. The size is enough to seat quite a few people. I showed up at around 8PM and It wasn't packed but it wasn't empty either. The bartender was polite and friendly. He took my the order quickly and didn't mind when I changed my mind mid order. You pickup your order from the kitchen window and your beer from the bartender.

They carry five beers they produce on tap and do offer flights. The flight is five 5oz pours of each style of beer.

For food, 1 had the fish and chips. The fish (Cod) was fried quite well and wasn't greasy with a house-made tartar sause. The chips (French Fries) were dry and crispy with salt and pepper. They tasted great covered in malt vinegar.

Overall the experiance was great and the cost for fish and chips plus a flight of beer was under $20.
