Finally a true craft beer bar in Derry, NH.

Cask and Vine features a longish bar of hand-made Vermont Cherrywood, and is accented nicely by more cherry on the bar-back with 14 taps presented front and center. A large chaulkboard above lists the beers on tap. Tables made from oak barrels and arched brickwork opposite the bar give the place a "wine cellar" vibe. This place is spotless and upscale for a beer bar, but keep in mind C+V is a hybrid wine/beer bar.

Selection of draught beers is top-notch for NH, with rarities (Founders Bolt Cutter) and locals (two different White Birch) in the mix. Serving sizes and prices of the beers are not specified which I think is a drawback though. Any consumer should be allowed to be well informed of what he is ordering beforehand, and I hope they fix this. The staff is super-friendly and very accomodating though and this will bring patrons back time and time again. I'm not aware of a bottle list being available, perhaps there was but I did not see one.

I did not try the food on my visit, but the menu looks delicous and a bit high-end. The "Value" portion of this review is solely based on the price of my Bolt Cutter that I had, which in all fairness is a very expensive beer in the bottle. Hopefully further visits will find larger pours and lower prices and I'll adjust my review.

Congratulations to C+V and I hope they have much success, it's a beautifull taproom run by some very nice people with a well thought-out selection of fine brews.

Have been here a couple of times, most recently tonight (14DEC16)....

Found easily on the southern side of the main drag in Derry.... is rectangular, long from front to back.... has a half-dozen small tables in the front area, along with a large 4-seater couch.... bar is halfway back on the right, stretching to the rear.... seating about 20 total. More small tables opposite the bar... Low lighting, and odd-ball local photography on the walls (Lego's as super heroes?). Had some nice classic rock filling the airwaves....

Service has been A-1, top friggin' shelf! Mostly I have been tended to by Andy, the owner, and he is great! Super friendly and very informative! They will NOT, though, give out any samples, which is a big suck... Seriously?? Beer selection is some of the best for local NH offerings.... Kelsen, From the Barrel, Rockingham, Smutty.... and reasonable prices, too, mostly! Yeah, mostly... for regular offerings... If anything resembling a rarity, prepare to pay... For example, $7.00 for a 10oz snifter of vintage 2009 Smutty Gravitation? That's OK; $11.50 for a Lawsons Barleywine? Ummm... no...

Cask & Vine kicks serious ass, seriously! Get thine arse here posthaste!!

Prosit!!

The BA article about this place is what pushed me to take a vacation to the New England area. This is in a small community and as such was able to say hello to the two owners. They know everybody that comes in and welcomes those they don't. Good local selections of beers and wines to choose from. Food menu is unique in a great way. Had the baked stuffed chicken, really great. Go during off hours as it seems to pack up quick with walk-ins and reservations. Only 20mins out of Manchester, NH so do take a trip for lunch or dinner.

My wife and I opened this place up early one Saturday afternoon. Cask and Vine was featured in a recent Beeradvocate magazine, and the reviews had been excellent, so we made a point of stopping in when we were in the area.
Great vibe. Dark, but not too dark. Pretty bar that looked like it could seat around 20. Several tables, with a couple in front of a big picture window. Music playing lightly in the background, and no TVs!
Fifteen beers on tap, including one cask. There were some excellent beers on the list. Andy, the owner, said this was the tap list for their New Year's Eve party. We started with White Birch Dark Sour Dreams for my wife and White Birch Small Batch Old Ale for me. My wife declared hers the most intense sour beer she's ever had. My Old Ale was good. We then had White Birch 2011 Blueberry Lambic in cask for my sour-loving wife, and I had Schilling Beer Company Fall of Babylon RIS. Both were excellent; the RIS was the most intense coffee flavor I've ever had in a beer.
Service was excellent. Andy was the only one there, and the place was getting busier.

The food menu looked to be great. As vegans my wife and I are accustomed to eating a lot of salads when dining out. Cask and Vine had a quinoa and chickpea burger that was excellent.

Great place. Will make it a point to stop in whenever I'm in the area.

Without a doubt, Cask and Vine has the best rotating draught beer selection in NH. Every week you go into C&V you see new beers you didn't know existed from local selections, to sours, to Imperials to Barrel-aged beers. This is a great spot for a relaxing evening where you can start up a conversation with like-minded friends at the bar. Chef George does a great job in the kitchen and the bartenders are the most knowledgable in the state when it comes to local craft beer.

Cask and Vine is one of the best craft beer bars in the state! With 12 rotating craft beer taps you never know what will be on tap (unless you check FB) and makes for a new experience every time. Cask loves to have fun with their selection and will feature brewery, beer styles and even distributor tap take overs. 12 taps of sours? Why not?! Stout tap taker over? Yes please!! They will even put on other events that are usually very creative and fun to attend. Cask loves to support local and you can usually find a few NH brews on tap. The chef George puts together amazing plates and what every you choose to eat you can expect it to be delicious. Seriously awesome place.

Now that Cask & Vine is well into its second year of operation, I feel the need to revise my review for my local bar. They continue to impress and dare I say have been a catalyst for the rebirth that downtown Derry has seen over the past year. Since they came into what was a dying downtown and experienced great success, numerous other restaurants and businesses have decided to move in.

The atmosphere is still as great as ever. From the nondescript building on East Broadway in Derry that houses it, you'd have no idea what was inside. Glass-topped tables made from wine barrels, cushy chairs and couches, and a beautiful wood bar. Music is tasteful and played low enough to provide some nice background noise. The art on the wall rotates regularly, featuring local artists. It's a great place for a nice dinner out, but it's also a great place just to stop in for a beer.

The service is where they really shine. Andy and Alana are the owners (they also own The Drinkery bottle shop in Londonderry), and one of them is almost always there. I've gotten to know them over the past year and their passion for the business they're in and their friendly nature is part of what makes Cask & Vine so great. The staff they've taken on to work for them reflects that attitude.

Selection is among the best you're going to find in New Hampshire. It's all about quality not quantity here. 12 well-curated taps including two nitro lines. Limited as they are by the offerings available to them in New Hampshire, they get the absolute best of what's out there. They want to be pouring things no one else has, the most interesting beers they can track down with an emphasis on local. They've also put on a number of beer dinners in the past year - Smuttynose, Stone, Maine Beer, Allagash - with excellent stuff offered.

The food is continually impressive. I'm shocked by how excellent the food George Craft, the head chef, puts out considering he's working with an extremely small and limited kitchen. I can only imagine what he'll be able to do now that a kitchen upgrade is in the future plans. The menu changes seasonally, and George always has a couple of specials made with whatever fresh ingredients he can get his hands on.

The value aspect of Cask & Vine has improved since they opened. Prices for draft pours are more in line with what you'd expect for the area and pour sizes better reflect the style and ABV of the beer being offered. It's still an expensive night out if you're doing dinner, but it's important to remember that this isn't your corner pub offering $5 burgers. The food you're going to get here is as good as you'll find at any high-end restaurant so you should expect prices in line with that. Cask & Vine is really whatever you want it to be, though, so if you want a sandwich or an appetizer and a couple of beers, you can get out with a reasonable check.

I've stopped here a few times, but only eaten here once, and that was for a beer dinner so my food portion of this review may get updated at some point. Cozy dimly lit bar smack in the middle of Derry Center. A couple of couches off to the right as you walk in a, 20 or so seat bar off to the back right with a smattering of tables to the left. A constantly rotating taplist maybe 12 deep with some of the best beer available in NH. Service is knowledgeable and very attentive. The food I had was fantastic, although I still need to sample from the regular menu that I understand changes often. The place is a bit pricy, but the quality merits it. I will be back.

I've been looking forward to stopping by Cask & Vine since before they opened, and when I finally did this past Friday night, it did not disappoint. I was meeting my dad there while I was in town, but I arrived a bit early, and the place was packed. There wasn't a seat at the bar, so I enjoyed a glass of Martha's Exchange PC IPA, the first time I have seen Martha's on-tap outside the Nashua brewpub.

The space was kind of quiet considering how many people were there--chalk it up to music at low volume (or no music, I can't recall) and good acoustics allowing people to have a conversation without having to yell or worrying about everyone in the bar hearing them. The lighting level was good--fairly but not overly dark. Walking in, there are some tall tables along the street-facing windows, with some couches and chairs before you get to the bar, which runs along the right side of the back of the room. Opposite it are tall tables in brick archways. The whole space is done nicely, but the bar is especially beautiful, with warm cherry wood, and a beautifully designed backbar with tap handles in the middle, flanked by open cupboards for glasses and wine bottles.

By the time my dad arrived, I was just finishing up my Martha's IPA and two seats were about to open, so we grabbed them and order a sampler. The sampler wasn't cheap, at $3 (as I recall) per pour, but the pint prices were reasonable, and it was fun to be able to try an array of beers on tap. There was a good selection of locals on-tap (4 from New Hampshire, and 2 or 3 each from Maine and Massachusetts, as I recall) as well as some beers from farther away. All were unusual and well selected. Out of those we sampled, I especially liked the Throwback coffee milk stout, but it wasn't the right beer to go with my meal.

I ordered the steak tips and my dad got the lamb. They were both excellent, though the portions were on the smaller side. I was prepared for that and comfortable when done eating, but if you come hungry you might want to get an appetizer or bar snack (they have fresh bread and butter for $1). Given the execution and quality, I'd say the meal was worth the price, and the Big A IPA went with it excellently.

Service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Seeing how much we were enjoying out Big A's, our bartender mentioned that they were tapping Rising Tide Zephyr IPA and offered us a sample.

This place is a real gem in the Manchester area. It's great to see it in downtown Derry, which was surprisingly bustling that night, and I'd love to see more places like it open in downtown Manchester. It's among the few (maybe only) places that can rival the Barley Pub as the best beer bar in New Hampshire, in my book. It's a very different, though still very laid-back vibe, but the focus on good beer (though with a smaller tap list) is equally strong. I'm really looking forward to visiting again. If I lived in the area, I'd be a regular fast.
