12oz bottle poured into glass.

Appearance: Pours a lovely hazy dark amber with a fair amount of bubbles flowing up through it. Small off-white head lingers for a bit on top.

Smell: Ooooh the hops. This isn't over the top, though. It smells... smooth and velvety, if smooth and velvety could be a proper descriptor. Malty might be a better term.

Taste: Well, that's a "good" different taste. It really tastes like it smells. Maybe with a hair more punch to it than the smell would have implied. I definitely like it more and more as I drink this.

Mouthfeel: Pretty thick overall, as others have noted, compared to other in the style.

Overall: $4.49 for the last bottle at Downer Wine & Spirits in Milwaukee. Worth buying a bottle and I'm glad I tried it.

12 oz bottle poured into a Central Waters snifter

Dark amber color with a finger and a half of fluffy white head.

Smelled very citrusy from a distance and had a slight alcohol scent as well

Taste was sweet and malty up front and bitter on the back end but the two didn't meld well. It was slightly disjointed. Lots of alcohol on the taste for 8.4%. I expected higher abv for the booziness.

Mouthfeel was thick and slightly syrupy.

poured into snifter from tap.

A - Pours a darker orange color into the snifter with a gorgeous 2 finger white finger of head disappears quickly and leaves behind beautiful webbed lacing.

S - The scent is perfect blend of tropical, citrus, and bitter grapefruit. The Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe work in harmony. Think of pineapples, mangoes, oranges, and grapefruits all blended together creating a transcendent aroma.

T - Yes! Absolutely fantastic fruits in the taste is more of the same blend of citrus, tropical and bitter grapefruit juice. Pineapples, mangoes, oranges, grapefruits, and other juicy treasures and met with a smooth caramel malt. So much goodness and the finish packs a bitter punch. A bit of alcohol in the finish.

M - Zippy carbonation with oily hop residue left on the tongue.

O - A maltier and hoppy, imperial version of Fantasy Factory. It is right up there with some of the best IIPA's I have had, but it will only be around for a short time this year. Get some!

A more full bodied version of fantasy factory. Fruit flavors are more pronounced but the hops are just as fresh tasting and dank as you would expect from karbon 4. I think this should be rated in the mid nineties for sure.
