Notes: Sunshower is our Super Saison, a high-gravity farmhouse ale inspired by the ethereal refreshing mid-summer moments when we experience both rainfall and the heat of the sun in New England. Similar to our flagship Trillium, the mouthfeel is light and effervescent with a bright, golden hue. We allow the fermentation temperature to free-rise that favors the saison yeast strain’s in the blend to realize its full attenuation potential which results in a dry beer with strength and complexity. Layers of pepper and earthy characteristics that play nice with the crisp, smooth backbone of a pilsner and wheat malt bill.

Had on tap. Pours hazy, gold in color with minimal head. Taste is peach, pepper, and grass. Medium bodied and carbonation, sweet. Makes gor a really tasty saison. Would get this again.

The super pillowy and rapidly developing white foam head makes for a completely silent pour, with a golden yellow body that's slightly hazy, possibly due to chill.

On the nose, there are notes of hay and lemon, bread and corn, but this is most certainly abundantly hopped, totally untrue to style. Sunshower is almost dank, but not quite. I'm getting apple, lavender soap, apple cider vinegar. It's an aromatic rollercoaster, with pluses and minuses.

Taste is a little confused between IPA and Saison at first, but Saison does win over. Flavors of hay, lemon, and grass are accompanied with a really intense yet bright honey element, pink peppercorn, a little heat, sort of like champagne, with a green apple gummy bear swallow.

Crisp, light to medium bodied, finishing semi-dry.

This is a super saison. Pours hazy straw yellow, decent foamy head with decent lacing. Banana, clove, pear in the nose and palate, with a belgianesque yeasty flavor. Nice mouthfeel. This is a great saison, that could hold its own against any.

Black pepper, clove, floral: picture a wide open field with wild flowers growing. Graham cracker and pilsner malts, faint lemon and citrus flavors.

Taste is a tad sweeter than I expected. A sugary version of Saltine crackers leads with honey, clove, pepper, flowers and a slight yeast influence: some lemon and citrus crispness. This has a nice dryness, but it's not one-dimensional because of some underlying sweetness I can't quite pinpoint.

Overall this is amazing. So balanced and so drinkable, so sippable. So everything. This is great.

This is a tasty pale ale. It isn't a saison, I know that because there are other saisons available, and none of them taste like pale ales, except this one. It's a pale ale.

750ml brown bottle, purchased at Gordon's Wines in Downtown Boston.

The froth on this brew is nothing short of epic, hazy within its straw golden hue. Fresh citrus zest in the nose, suggestions of peppercorn, ripe pears, grass, bread crust, and faint marmalade as well. Semi-dry with a little bit of body, warmth from the alcohol hits in the middle but seems pretty mellow. Spicy, herbal, & citrusy flavors layer on top of the sturdy malt base. I very happy to know of a brewery that knows how to brew a Saison, a hefty strength and American minded hopping this Saison just keeps on giving as more layers peel back with each sip. Quite drinkable for its size. A real treat.

750ml bottle dated 05/26/16

Pours opaque golden yellow with a creamy frothy white foam head. Smells like banana, mild spice, vanilla, fresh oranges, wheat, sweet grapefruit, some pilsner malt, with mild pine and floral earthy grass. Tastes like fresh orange citrus, sweet grapefruit, mild banana, vanilla, clove-like spice, wheaty crackery malt, with floral pine and dank earthy grass. Feels medium bodied, dense and creamy with low carbonation. Overall a really tasty saison.

Pours a hazy straw-orange in color with a finger of short lived white head. Aroma is subtle but spicy. Taste is also focused on yeast spiciness with subtle hop character and bitterness. Good mouthfeel, medium-light body and moderate+ carbonation. There is a touch of alcohol in the finish. Overall this is an enjoyable beer and is a bit more than the sum of its parts.

Hazy light copper with a huge white head.

Aroma: light citrus, present but not overpowering. So pleasant.

I have to admit though I dont see how its a Saison.

got it on Friday 5/28 in a 32oz growler fill. smelled of sweet citrus with a juicy flavor and a smooth mouthfeel. wonderful taste that mirrors the smell. hides the 8.5 very well. For one of the lower rated Trilium beers it rated very high for me. would drink this over and over again.

Bottled on 5/26/16; drank in a pilsner glass on 5/28/16; I have always enjoyed this beer more than the average BA ratings; it does tend to be a tad bit heavier than a typical saison (it is labeled as a Super Saison) but less so than the 8.5% ABV might indicate

The aroma offers bready malts, spice, lemon, hay.

The flavor is upfront of spicy yeast quality, citrus, huge carbonation, crackery malts, lingering hop bitterness and some honey sweetness, but still a medium dry finish.

Thanks to Kyle for sharing.

Nice creamy foamy head, hazy blond color.

Nose nice fruit, dank tropical notes, grapefruit and citrus pith, lemon zest, nice saison spices and mild wheat creamy notes, etc.

Taste brings sweet candy like malts, mild creamy and toasty, then nice floral grassy hops, mild fruit, lemon, little citrus zest, tangy notes, etc. Fair bitter tangy notes lingering, nice citrus and orange lemon notes lingering, sticky finish, etc.

Mouth is med bod, little creamy, decent carb, etc.

A pretty orange the look of this one. A light, fresh scent. Tastes heavily of clove. Low bitterness. Seems light and drinkable for an 8.5 ABV. A solid beer. Thought not my favorite style.

Tastes like an extra boozy saison. Carb and mouthfeel are excellent and to style. If you like banana and flowery Belgian esters and need to get a buzz faster than normal, this is the perfect beer for you.

Picked up a bottle of this a few weeks back. Very solid saison. Good amount of funk which I always like in the style. Pretty boozy for a saison, but they mask it well.

A-Cloudy orange, highly carbonated, two finger head that leaves nice lacing.

S-Wheat, some spice and a good deal of hops.

T-Starts with wheat, some orange, a little bit of grass and rather hoppy for the style. Some bitterness.

M-Medium bodied, nice carbonation.

O-The balance wasn't there for a saison, the hops were a tad too much.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Very light hazy yellow. Medium white head that doesn't last, but retains a few surface wisps.

Smell - Grassy and herbal hoppy aroma. Kinda yeasty and some pale malt.

Taste - Again, grassy and herbal. Much stronger pale malt. Yeastiness is intense here and kinda overwhelms. Bitter yeasty finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium heavy and pretty malty. Kinda bitter and medium carbonation.

Overall - This doesn't work so well. The pale malt and yeast are a little intense.

Appearance: Slightly hazed bright yellow gold. Starts with a large clumpy bright-white head. Drops to a small collar and wispy cap in relatively short order. Minimal lacing. Moderate carbonation on the pour.

Smell: a ton of saison yeast. Esters abound. Banana candy and clove - it's minimal. Some solid bubblegum as well. A moderate pale malt sweetness adds a bit of balance to the heavy yeast presence. Some bready elements with a solid floral push as well. Juicy fruity, a touch of peach with some earthy hops. A touch of wheat thrown in. Mild hints of hay and grass.

Taste: Juicy fruit right up front. Peach, pear, and apple. A touch of tangerine with a punch of yeast. Clove is a bit heavier than the nose would indicate. Solid ripe banana and a pinch of bubblegum. Pale malt base adds some biscuity elements with a mild sweetness. Bubblegum builds as it warms and takes over a bit. Some grassy and herbal elements as well. A touch of hay and grass. A touch of citrus with a creeping pithy bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Light side of medium body with a moderate carbonation. A touch dry on the finish after an initial juicy sip.

Overall: Bulbasaur used Sunshower, it's not very effective.

A good but not thrilling saison. Slightly over sweet and the yeast almost hits stronger on a Belgian style than a saison. Still good, but not quite on par.

Review from notes dated 8/2/14

Cheers to Bilco for sharing this

A: Solid, honey gold with some yellow - pours with a medium-sized, off-white head, fades to a few wisps, leaves some lacing

S: Yup, that's a saison - very yeasty, with some spice, cloves, and grass - some citrus notes as well - light farmhouse funk, with some tartness - some pale malts, sweetness

T: Some nice saison flavors, but the notion of a "super" saison may be a bit much - earthy tartness, with a lot of sweetness - banana, clove, spice, and some yeasty flavors - pale malts and some wheat - too sweet, and booze is oddly noticable

M: Medium body, nicely carbonated, finishes a little wet

O: Well that's just super

There is nothing wrong with this take on a saison; it's just not what I am personally looking for in the style. It's a bit too sweet, a bit too boozy, and not as dry as I like my saisons.

Poured from 25 oz. bottle into pint glass

A - The body is a pale straw color with a white head of medium thickness.

S - Banana, clove, black pepper, orange, and graden herbs all mingle to desirable effect.

T - A super-fresh tasting beer with a sizable hop presence for the style! The hops bring orange, peach, and even berry flavors to the tongue. Then spicy yeast esters dance over the cracker-like malt. The finish is fairly dry and bitter with lingering spice and a hint of alcohol.

M - The mouthfeel is just a hair over medium-bodied.

O - A very tasty beer. The Amarillo hops bring a pleasant fruity element to the Saison. Worth checking out.

Golden color and crystal clear. Small head that settles no bubbles. No lace.

Good Belgian yeast presence with floral pale malt nose.

Starts slightl sweet with a strong sage-like swallow. Short aftertaste of light hop and warming alcohol. Very low carbonation. Average body.

Bottled 07/28/14 (6 days ago)

A: Pours a clear gold with an enormous frothy and effervescent off-white head. Great head retention. Huge quantity of little specks of lacing everywhere.

S: Spicy. Lots of black pepper and some pine. Light grapefruit. Lightly grassy and a slight bit of crackery malt.

T: Flowery up front. Spicy kick immediately afterwards with some spicy pine and then lots of black pepper. Cracker malt in the finish with a big grassy kick. Light grass and black pepper lingers.

M: Medium bodied, somewhat sticky for a saison.

O: Not a bad saison. Amarillo dry hop adds a nice little american-style flair without putting it over the top.
