This iteration of our “Small Bird” series is an American Pale Wheat Ale brewed with a high proportion of malted and flaked wheat along with Columbus, Centennial, and Citra hops. Presenting a dark straw color with medium haze, Stumpy Duck offers a vibrant nose of orange and cantaloupe with light lemon peel. Flavors of grapefruit pith and light candied peach are balanced against a light floral, pine hop character on the palate. Finishes crisp and refreshing with a medium to light body.

MALT: American 2-Row Barley, White Wheat, Caramunich, Flaked Wheat

HOPS: Centennial, Citra, Mosaic, Columbus

YEAST: Trillium House English Ale

With a clever blend of Centennial, Citra, Mosaic and Columbus hops, Trillium Brewing is showing that big flavors can come in small birds.

Milky lemon and casts in a finely silted haze, Stumpy Duck rolls onto the sense with a subtle perfume of citrus, tropical, herbal and melon. Gentle on the early palate, a fluffy and creamy iteration of cereal, honeysuckle, agave and lychee provide a supporting sweetness.

As the hops blossom on the middle palate, a branch-ripe flavor of pink grapefruit, orange and lime all come to mind before the ale quickly transitions to a juicy flavor of honeydew, passionfruit, green papaya and green berries. Almost tangy in its racy citrus and tropical taste, the finish comes with a strong presence of lemongrass, green tea and sassafras herb.

Light, crisp and highly refreshing, the hazy beer finishes remarkably dry, snappy and with a thirst quenching refreshment without risking becoming watery that sets Trillium apart from the rest. A brief afterglow of botanical tea and spicy hop resins echo softly afterwards.

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Trillium in Canton for about fifteen dollars. Canned on date on 4/14. My twenty eighth brew from these guys. This is very good.
