Notes: A Street IPA shows off a hazy faded golden orange appearance, and invites you in with the aromas of lemon grass, citrus zest and slight pineapple. Citrus notes continue to the palette, along with cantaloupe and a firm bitterness, to balance this beer. It's medium body and lingering finish leaves a reminder of these delightful Amarillo hops, beckons for another sip.

MALT: American 2-row Barley, White Wheat, C-15

HOPS: Amarillo, Columbus

CAN acquired at Trillium. 16 fl oz format. Standard pull-tab. Minimalist white & grey label.

"India Pale Ale." 7.2% ABV.

Served fresh and cold into a nonic pint glass.

HEAD: ~5cm in height. Off-white colour. On the thinner side in terms of consistency, but not weak. ~5 minute retention. Leaves no lacing as it recedes.

BODY: Turbid orange. Somewhat vibrant. No yeast/lees are visible within. Translucent. Nontransparent.

An appealing look for an IPA, filtered or not. Could be more vibrant, and could offer a creamier fuller head, but it's generally enticing, sure.

Appears well carbonated.

AROMA: I'm not getting a lot, actually; aromatic intensity is rather low for an IPA. Subdued hop oils/resins, floral hop aromatics, faint nectar, juiciness, something fruity from the melon family (Cantaloupe, I guess), and vague citrus without any acidity.

Doesn't scream freshness or pungency, but it's generally appealing. More a pale ale aroma than an IPA aroma.

TASTE: Amarillo is not well showcased - which is a shame since it's easily my favourite hop. Lacks the overt resins of Amarillo. Instead, it's floral, melony, and vaguely fruity, lacking hop pungency, depth of flavour, and complexity (or at least, lacking them to the extent you'd expect in a top tier IPA).

Wheat and pale malt lend this its malt backbone. I don't know that it's better for not having been filtered.

I do like the melon, but this finishes slightly warm in terms of alcohol, which is odd in a 7.2% ABV.

TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, soft, well-carbonated, and of adequate thickness and heft on the palate.

OVERALL: Drinkable and enjoyable, but it's not a good showcase for my favourite hop nor does it seem better merely because they used wheat and didn't filter it. This was my second Trillium beer and I preferred Vicinity (my first). I can't say I'd wait in line and/or pay $16+ per 4 pack for it, but I'm glad I got to try it and it's certainly above average. If you dig melony beers, this might be for you, but - chalk it up to personal taste - I was hoping for a more resinous beer that really committed to Amarillo hops.

07/08/18 cracking open another can from the 4-pack after a 4 day break from drinking. Coming into this fresh:

Has a nice body colour and a thin weak head. Nothing special to look at.

Taste hits on cantaloupe, subdued mango, and melon atop a thin backbone of 2-row. It's balanced but rather muted in terms of hop pungency, failing to showcase Amarillo hops well. Drinks more like a pale ale than an IPA, which I guess is a compliment in terms of its drinkability.

It's nice enough for what it is, but I'm scratching my head over all this Trillium hullabaloo. If in the mood for an IPA, I'd much sooner reach for widely distributed expressions of the style such as Bear Republic's Racer 5, Ballast Point's Sculpin, or the like.

Fruity albeit indistinct.

P- Poured from a 16 oz can,into a Cigar City spiegelau IPA glass.Canned on 09-AUG-17.

L- Fluffy white colored head that stands 1 finger width tall, with very good retention and sticky lacing.Hazy amber colored body with low clarity, and distorted light showing through the glass.High amount of carbonation, with a low amount of sediment.

S- On the nose I get mostly tropical fruit notes, mango and pineapple, with tangerine, and peach in the background.Subtle notes of pale malt for balance.

T- The palate follows the nose with a delicate hop bite up front, tropical fruits in the middle, and some citrus and bready malts on the back end.

F- The mouth feel is medium bodied, with a chalky texture.High amount of oxidation on the tongue, with a dry finish.

O- This is a damn fine IPA.Perfect balance of hops, and malts.I will definitely drink this one again, and recommend to all the hop and IPA lovers.

Pours hazy, gold in color with 2/3 inch head. Taste is herbal and floral hops, with light lemon and grapefruit. Liight bodied, slightly bitter with moderate carbonation. Above average, but not really on par with the other beers in the Street series. Good by most breweries, but I feel spoiled by Trillium and this one is worth trying but glad I did not get a full four pack.

16oz can, purchased at the brewery, known to be fresh, poured into Trillium Congress Street willibecher glass. Enjoyed on 4.1.17, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a very hazy and cloudy copper color, orange hues with two fingers of white head with good retention and lace. The aroma is nice, overripe tropical fruits, lots of spicy citrus peel with citrus juice, lots of piney bitterness, pretty green and earthy with some soft pale dough and a bit of mineral water. The flavors match the nose well, lots of citrus peel, bitter, spicy, with some tangy tropical fruits and a ton of bitterness, lots of earthy and sappy pine, leafy green hop with just a light reminder of pale grain. The mouthfeel is good, coating with a very crisp and lively texture, plenty of carbonation with a very bitter finish.

Verdict: A good IPA from Trillium, not one of their best, very bitter, very green, not so balanced and quite aggressive all things considered. The flavors feel a bit bland, very one dimensionally bitter and green with just a touch of fruit flavors to counterbalance.

Growler shared by Curran tonight.

This one pours a slightly dark orange, with a 1.5 inch head, and a lot of lacing. At one week old, it's good to see that this growler has held up and is still well carbonated.

This smells quite grassy, with a bit of floral perfume character, and some tangerine and grapefruit.

This is a lot more grassy than I expected, with a fairly bitter bite to it. There is some fruity sweetness, a nice bit of tangerine and grapefruit, but it's mainly earthy and grassy, really.

This has a solidly middle of the ground mouthfeel, with a solid level of carbonation, and a relatively medium body.

Not one of the Trillium's top tier IPAs, but still quite good.

16 oz can dated 8/9/17 (10 days old)

Pours a cloudy, somewhat muted orange gold color. one finger dense frothy head settles down to a film with spotty lacing.

Aroma is bright at first but quickly dies down to become weak in smell. Notes of grapefruit, lemon grass, pineapple and orange in there - a nice mix IMO.

Taste is well balanced with light amounts of sweet malt in the background with a steady dose of floral and tropical hop flavors - similar to smell with a base of sweet hops and a touch of citrusy tartness layered on top.

Feel is unsticky, a surprising amount of seltzer, and just the right amount of smoothness. Very refreshing feel.

This is really an outstanding beer - not over the top tropical hops like many of their other ones (unsurprising since this is not a DDH) but it is a fantastic entry compared to so many other breweries trying to make this very same beer. The flavor profile and the feel come togther great. May be my favorite non-DDH IPA from them.

Canned 3/13 . A nice deep orange color, opaque with a half inch head after pouring from the can into a Teku glass. Not much lacing. Smells mostly floral but there are some nice citrusy notes. Taste is more floral than juicy with a lasting bitterness and oily finish. A full bodied beer that has noticeable but not overpowering carbonation and a dry finish. Very lucky to have somewhat regular access to Trillium. This is another top notch beer! Happy National Beer Day!
