Notes: This amplified version of Congress Street IPA is a focused exhibition of the Galaxy Hop. Milky and yellow-orange in appearance, Double Dry Hopped Congress Street emits fragrant aromatics of mango, pine resin, grapefruit, pineapple, and peach. Explosive flavors of tropical fruit, grassy hop, nectarine, orange rind, and creamy malt inundate the palate with a thick, rich mouthfeel and soft, effervescent carbonation. The finish is full and oily, yet clean, with a light, modest bitterness.

750 mL bottle purchased at Trillium. Poured into a HF wine glass at 39F

Reviewed using the old scoring system.

A: 4.25 Foamy white head 1.5" thick with full carbonation. Cloudy to murky straw colored body with fine carbonation. Head regenerates with gentle swirling. Fine lacing remains on the glass.

S: 4.50 Overwhelming dank hops with notes of pine and resin. Citrus fruits so present in the standard Congress Street are less obvious here. Notes of peach and papaya. Malt backbone remains muted.

T: 4.50 Juicy, piney hops all the way. This screams West Coast IPA. Loving that n east coast brewery can make this. Pineapple and mango flavors areresent but subservient to the hops. Lingering bitter aftertaste, but pleasant. Missing the dryness of standard Congree Street.

M: 4.00 Very sticky and oily. This coats the mouth and lingers. Good carbonation balances the richness. Nrmally, I prefer a clean finish, but the hoppy remnants work here

O: 4.75 Glad to see the east coast representing a West Coast IPA style so well. This is a nice improvement on an already great beer. Highly recommended.

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a willibecher. This was bottled yesterday, and picked up from the brewery an hour ago.

Appearance: Pours a very, hazy, opaque peachy amber, and leaves a couple fingers of white head that fade at a medium pace to a white layer atop the beer (4.6)

Smell: The smell is dominated by big peach, apricot, pineapple, mango and citrus. There is also just a hint of some grassy aromas. (4.9)

Taste: Big citrus (especially grapefruit) take the lead in this one. It's all hops, but is surprisingly un-bitter. There is a bit of pineapple and mango as well, along with a dash of peach. Really juicy and really refreshing. Amazingly smooth finish. (4.9)

Mouth-feel: Medium to well carbonated with a medium, creamy, smooth body. You can almost feel the pulp (semi-joking, because there is no pulp). (4.6)

Overall: This is a unique IPA for me - this captures all the great fruity characteristics of the hops without being overly bitter or sweet. It is refreshing, delicious and very well crafted. (4.9)

Double Dry hopped Congress Street...can it improve upon an exceptional base beer? It pours a turbid yellowish color. Well-set head is white and frothy. Head leaves bubbly lacing remnants. Nose is dominated by tropical fruit hops and I am far from surprised. Fruit-hop perfume. Mango, pineapple and peaches in the nose. Some mild green onion (which I pick up a lot in Trillium's beer and which I love). Sweet citrus flesh, mango and even some pear. The flavor is dominated, again, by wet, ripe, juicy, fruity, hoppiness. Squishy pineapple and juicy melons. Some grass and soft green onion. Peach and apricot. Fruit smoothie. Pale malt cushion. Dry, not overly bitter finish, yet the bitterness, albeit it modest does linger. Soft carbonation. Hop oils. Almost a cask-esque feel. Trillium's new releases have been an exhilarating experience. Very happy I bought four of these.

Enjoyed from a bottle.

Exceptional brew. For those that gave it a score of low 4's I would assume that you are the type to never find pleasure in life. Get a grip. If you can get your hands on some of the Congress ddh do not hesitate.

16 oz can, dated 3/6/17, poured into a teku

A- Super hazy golden orange with a two finger white head

S- Grapefruit, mangos, pineapple, peach skins, dank, smells like a bag of hops.

T- Tropical fruits, mangos, pineapple, some peach, citrus, citrus rinds, dank.

M- Smooth, creamy, medium body.

O- A great IPA, superb hoppy without being overly bitter. One of my favorite IPAs, wish I could get it all the time.

Pours a light matte yellow color. Completely opaque and super hazy. Thinnish weak white head dissipates quickly leaving no residual lacing or head.

Smell has notes of citrus, orange, grapefruit, orange rind, and some cantaloupe like notes.

Taste follows the nose with lots of fresh orange, grapefruit, mango and cantaloupe - really fruity and juicy. The hops are noticeable here in that green hop flavor dry hopping tends to impart in a beer. Almost no bitterness on the finish - just a bit of green hops on the finish.

Feel is full bodied and coats the mouth, yet its incredibly easy drinking. Kind of punches you in the mouth with its hop notes. Bit of green hop burn is noted on the back end. Moderately carbonated.

Overall this is a fantastic beer and one of the better offerings from Trillium. Hope I get to revisit this one in the future.

This is current top of my list when it comes to IPAs. Everything about this beer was amazing, especially the aroma and color. It basically looked like a mixture of orange juice and pineapple juice. I wish I had more than one of these, but am happy I had the opportunity to score one and drink it. Looking forward to trying more Trillium beers!

this phenomenal and rare beer comes to me by great generous courtesy of philbolt, a fellow BA from across the country that was far too kind with his access to cool beer that before now only existed in my dreams. thanks new friend! this is a hectic brew, totally east coast. looks like a vermont one with its hazy beige color, thick and yeasty looking, lovely head on it, but man, this is cloudy and dense beyond the level of even the other east coast monsters, almost looks less refined, intense, no light passing through this milky brew. the smell is its best feature, i wish they said which hops were used, but i can only stab at that, its super floral and citrusy both, short of tropical, but i get fresh cut pineapple, tangerine, even lemongrass in here. the malt base is odd. seems like it almost has to be wheat centered, but the texture isnt there all the way, and its hard to pick out what else is in here, maybe oats with all this density. it has a remarkable hop flavor to it too, scaled back just a little from the smell, but its pungent and different, and taste like something hill farmstead would make, or has made. the process here is very cool, and i immediately want to know more. i think it came through just a bit heavy for perfection, yeasty and really viscous for the style, and where it flatters some of its peers, its overdone here by a small margin that makes it a slower drinker and a weird one all in all. very awesome to taste this beer ahead of my trip to boston next week where i will surely get my hands on some more of their stuff, and its really exciting to get to taste beer like this out here. thanks again philbolt, looking forward to sharing a beer with you in real life!

Had on tap. Pours hazy, bright orange-yellow in color, with minimal head. Taste is big lime, lemon, pineapple juice and some dank hops. Slightly bitter and light bodied for the style. Gentle and sophisticated. Really good beer. I think I like regular Congress Street more, but this is very good. Well worth seeking out.

From fresh can into IPA glass. Wow is this turbid, more so then any other I've seen of this NE style. Looks like orange juice. Big bubbles and not much lacing. smells of grapefruit and orange peel. Taste is like no other, wow, starts with OJ then tangerine then a sharp sour grapefruit rind on the back tongue then alcohol warmth. Lingering bitterness, Wow, totally different then most DIPAs. Total extreme juicy citrus bomb! it's amazing this is all from the hops and most likely the double dry hopping. I'm having a hard time rating this since it's so out there and different but in the end i thank its one of the best. It definitely heightens the bar for the NE DIPA style.
