Brewed with 30% wheat, this hoppy, golden American ale features Galaxy and Citra in the dry hop. Bright aromatics of overripe peach, orange rind, and green, herbal hops flood the nose while balanced flavors of tropical fruit, citrus, and creamy wheat excite the palate. Refreshingly light bodied with a soft, fluffy mouthfeel, Pier finishes dry with a slightly mineral bitterness.

MALT: Pilsner, White Wheat, Flaked Wheat, Dextrine

HOPS: Galaxy, Citra, Columbu

After decades of drinking, studying, analyzing and exploring beer flavor, i've gotten to the point where I no longer know the difference between IPA and Wheat Beer.

Trillium Brewing helps with the confusion with their Pier Pale Ale. Cloudy, slightly milky and pastel straw, the Pale Ale floats both a creamy off-white lather and an aromatic scent of citrus, tropical fruit, vinous fruit and a whole cast of botanical herb. Creamy, sweet and bready once on the tongue, the early flavors of honeysuckle, light bread and angel food cake round the palate.

With the cereal malts fading softly from the middle palate, the hops take their place with the racy flavors of fresh oranges, lemon and white grapefruit with zesty flavors of papaya, passionfruit and white grape to follow. All tangy and slightly under ripened in their character, the taste is wrapped in a juiciness of honeydew before trailing into a late taste of hemp, fresh spruce, fresh grass clippings, lemon pepper and white wine.

Light, creamy and drying, the ale finishes on the crisper side of malty-dry and with a smooth peppery bitterness to outlast the malt, perfume and cereal.

Traded for this recently as a friend of mine made a run up to Trillium this past weekend. Never had this before and it's nice to have a beer from them that's different than what I'm accustomed to. It might have poured and looked like one of their more famous IPA's, but this was an great example of a Wheat Beer that felt familiar throughout my session.

Of course, this poured like juice and was cloudy as all heck with plenty of head topping it off. That slowly settled but didn't leave behind much lacing as I sipped this as only a faint ring remained about a quarter of the way down the side of my pint glass. Lots of wheat and Pilsner Malt in the nose with some tangy citrus underneath it as the tangerine and *very* sharp grapefruit burst forth in the taste once this fully warmed up. Slick, full, and a bit dry in the aftertaste, there was an undertone of peach here that helped tie everything in together. The soft mouthfeel gave way to a dank presence on my breathe once I finished this off as the Citra quietly gave way to the Galaxy...

Not a lot of booze here but it felt stronger than it was in actuality, because of the strong hop presence. Just a few bits of blond sediment settled at the bottom of the liquid but otherwise, this beer dated 9/8 held up well as it tasted as fresh as could be and true to it's description. Enjoyed this take on the style as it was on par with Trilllium's other offerings as the onion and garlic spice that stuck with me left me wanting a chaser of water and ultimately, another one of these!

Canned 9/8/20
Drank 10/7/20

Held very well, looks fresh like the day it was canned, orange juice color and consistency, a tiny bit of bitterness/carbonation upfront, other than that it would be a top level Trillium beer!!! B+ Trillium beer grade

Pours a pale dull cloudy yellow color with a one finger white head.

Aroma is nice soft wheat notes but fruity hops pineapple, mango and mandarin orange with a mingled citrus rind and herbal bitterness. Pretty much an NEIPA with some wheat thrown in the mash, that being said it is pleasant.

Taste is pretty much like the nose, NEIPA nice fruity tropical hops with a little wheat malt actually find that to be a good change up for a tad different flavor for the malty base the hops ride on. Bitterness in the finish is citrus rind and herbal notes like the nose also.

Mouthfeel is medium with little higher then medium carbonation little fizzy but not quite too peppy.

Overall a pretty good hopped up wheat ale, no surprise I guess it is following the hazy kick. Just so you guys are aware not all IPA's have to be the NE style.

Super solid wheat beer. More like a wheat pale ale. It has some wheat/Weiss characteristics, but doesn't have any of the eterery banana notes. Crips with a hoppy bight and a little tropical.
Beautiful orangy/yellow beer with a big white head.
