Pier American Wheat AlePier American Wheat Ale
Notes: Brewed with 30% wheat, this hoppy, golden American ale features Galaxy and Citra in the dry hop. Bright aromatics of overripe peach, orange rind, and green, herbal hops flood the nose while balanced flavors of tropical fruit, citrus, and creamy wheat excite the palate. Refreshingly light bodied with a soft, fluffy mouthfeel, Pier finishes dry with a slightly mineral bitterness.

MALT: Pilsner, White Wheat, Flaked Wheat, Dextrine

HOPS: Galaxy, Citra, Columbu

Pint can 10/10/17 opened on 11/27/17

A slightly hazy gold with light amber hues. A tall, fluffy and bubbly white foam rises high with moderate retention abilty. A bit of sticky lace hangs on for good.

The aroma is very interesting, an abundance of fruity hops permeates the nose, sweet mandarin orange, zesty lemmon, minerals and grains with a vanilla-ish creamy sweetness, most likely from the wheat. Sour and zesty notes with a big malt complixty in the aroma. Big hops, excellent light malt and wheat really do make for pleasant aromatics.

The citra and Galaxy hops are just an outstanding combo, bold citrus and sweet tropicals abound in the flavor. A dry, yet juicy mouthfeel has slightly bitter herbs, grainy and earthy wheat tones that range from, dry grasses and creamy vanilla notes. The blend of excellent wheat malt and pilsner malts is just the best. Bold and deep flavor but still allows the hops to shine through. Back to the mouthfeel....dry, juicy, creamy in the finish with a light herbal bite. Soooo goood!!

A wheat IPA , man, its the best of both worlds. Each spectrum in the flavor profille compliment eachother perfectly. Love the balance of flavor's. The hops are deep....earthy, zesty lemmons, citrus fruits and green grasses. Sour and earthy with a nice wheatie tang to end it. Complex, interesting and unique.

32 oz growlette was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a hazy golden straw yellow with no vision of anything. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Lemony, citrus, grassy, tropical, herbal, biscuity, bready, wheaty, and pale malts.

Taste: Lemony, citrus, grassy, herbal, and tropical hops followed by a nice malt bscbone, chewy notes, some yeastiness, and mild bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, refreshing, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, a little chewy, and light bitterness.

Overall: Will be revisiting this one again in the near future.

Poured from a 16oz can dated 8/18 into a snifter glass last night, so less than a week old. Pours a hazy orange gold color with a one finger head that dies down and doesn't leave too much lacing.

Smell is pretty nice, good sweetness backed by a solid hop note, floral and dank. Taste has a nice wheat twang to it, washed away by the resinous and juicy galaxy hops. There's some dankess in the flavor but the biggest note I get is sweet orange juice. Some floral hops finish along with a subtle malt sweetness.

Feels a bit lighter than I expected for 6%+, and it's smooth on the tongue and super drinkable. Wish I had more than one!

ook: Cloudy yellow, nice long lasting head, not much lacing 3
Smell: Tropical hops, pineapple, not much else 3.75
Taste: Tropical hops, maybe a touch of pine and resin, starts sweet and ends with a somewhat harsh bitterness until it warms a bit. Bitterness lingers on the finish. Definately improves as it warms. The sweetness and bitterness play off each other nicely. Start to get a little alcohol as it continues to warm 3.5
Feel: A little on the thin side especially considering the high ABV, nice prickly carbonation. 4
Overall: Taste and smells a lot like juice, which is good if that's what one is in the mood for, but lacks any level of complexity and balance of flavor. If you want a tropical hop flavored beer, this one might be for you. If you want something else, look elsewhere. I am currently enjoying it, but likely would not purchase again, especially considering the price. 3.75

A- Pours a light to medium yellow to not quite gold in color. I was expecting a hazy pour, but this one really wasn't, with a mostly translucent body. A well retaining and frothy head leaves great lacing throughout the drink.

S- Resinous and moderately bitter hops hit the nose up front in a burst of cedar and light honey bitterness. If I had a guess, I would say this is primarily a simcoe hopped beer. The back end of the scent has a touch of honey sweetness.

T- Starts with a mildly sweet, malt flavor that displays the honey-like characteristics from the scent. Quickly moves toward the piney and resinous hops bitterness moves in and takes over the flavor. The hops bitterness is decently strong, but not overpowering. The back half of the drink sees a return of the sweeter malts and they intermingle with the hops pretty smoothly. Lingering flavor is light sweetness and moderate bitterness.

M- This one hits the tongue with a moderate level of carbonation and a fairly light body. On the tongue, the liquid feels somewhat sticky. It goes down rather easily, with no detectable alcohol and just enough hops aggression to keep the flavor balanced.

Overall, this is a solid hoppy wheat beer. The hopping is definitely a positive addition to the scent, as well as a good balancer in the flavor of the beer.

Another awesome beer from Trillium.
Look- Pours a beautiful hazy orange with two fingers of thick bright white foam.
Smell- Lots of tropical fruit, pineapple; mango; orange.
Taste- Tons of tropical fruit and slight malty sweetness with a crisp, refreshing finish.
Feel- Smooth, lighter bodied than it looks. Good carbonation.
Overall- Another solid beer loaded with tropical fruit hopiness. I almost passed on this at the brewery as I tend to stick to pale ales and IPAs, but this was totally worth it.

750 ml bottle. Hazy golden orange body with a fluffy and foamy white head. Aromas of wheat, citrusy hops and a bit of grass. This does not taste like any resemblance of a "wheat" beer. Aggressively hoppy on the palate, citrus and bitterness. I dig this one a lot.

12/09/15 bottling date

A: Hazy amber pour with a tall and light white head. Spotty, blotchy lacing everywhere. Quite decent soapy head retention.

S: Sharp tropical fruits and citrus primarily.

T: More of the same, juicy tropical fruits and citrus rind. Kind of a dank, sharp herbal taste in there too. Sweet wheaty backing now backing it up. Aftertaste is all dry, garlicky, herbal hops.

M: Light-medium bodied, smooth and lightly bitter with a drier finish.

O: Very juicy and hoppy wheat ale. Don't usually see this level of hoppiness in anything wheaty but if anyone can do it, it's Trillium. Nice juxtaposition of tropical fruits and garlicky/herbal flavors all with a soft wheat background. Nice.
