I didn't see a bottle date on this one, oddly enough. It's a couple weeks old (month tops).

A: Pours a dark, slightly hazy orange. Tall, frothy off-white head. Great head retention with a huge island of foam that lasts forever. Moderate lacing, just some thin splotches that stick.

S: Sweet oranges and tropical fruits. Very citrusy and very refreshing.

T: More of the same. Lots of citrus in general. Oranges with...mango maybe? Almost mildly sweet for half a second before the bitterness kicks in. Some spicy, resinous pine in the middle makes an appearance. Almost tastes like sap at one point. Dry, mildly bitter finish despite the 9% ABV. Lots of bitter orange peel and grapefruit lingering in the aftertaste. Long, long, LONG lasting aftertaste. I can still taste it 5 minutes after a sip.

M: Medium bodied, dry and bitter.

O: A nice DIPA from trillium. Nothing earth shattering. Fairly well balanced with lots of bitter citrus flavors for the most part. Aftertaste is one of the longest lasting that I can remember. Like I've been chewing on hops and washed it down with hop oil. Tasty but not earth shattering like some of trillium's other brews.

Clear, amber color. Tropical fruit in the nose. Lots of grapefruit bitterness on the finish which dries it out. Some sweetness up front. Not a typical awesome dipa by Trillium, but far from terrible. Drinks close to Stone's Enjoy By.

Let me start by saying that this is a very good beer. That being said, this is not the juicy balanced hop bomb that I'm used to from Trillium. Hop flavors seem a bit muted.... there's a very malty backbone, with a sharp bitterness that briefly lingers on the palate. Again, great beer, but compared to the others (Congress Street, Melcher Street, Fort Point), it's a miss.

This beer is a grower, not a shower. As it warmed, the hops seemed to open up and release a deliciously tropical and blackberry scent. The taste followed suit. When first opened, a mosaic driven hop experience dominated, which of course is great. However, there is a subtle fruity aroma that develops as the mosaic front dissipates. Perhaps not as balanced or elegantly hoppy as other beers but it's a special, interesting brew. I'll be sure to go back for more.

For a 9% DIPA, it is very boozy. And it lingers all the way through the finish. You still get that delicious trillium IPA taste, but its a bit overpowered by the alcohol. Though it is good, i think they could have done much better!
