This Barrington cold brewed coffee infused blonde barleywine is the luminous counterpart to our dark, rich imperial stout. In Day & Night, we envisioned the blonde barleywine style as a way to showcase the nuanced floral, fruity, and spicy characteristics found in medium and lighter roast coffee blends. Golden-Amber in color, Day & Night exudes delightful aromas of almond toffee, graham crackers, fruity coffee, lightly acidic berries, and vanilla. Upfront flavors of creamy coffee, honey tinged malt, caramel, and tart berry blend cleanly with a slight coffee-derived bitterness.

750ml bottle.
Pours clear copper with an inch of white head. Moderate retention and lacing. Aromatics lead off with fresh coffee with nougat and chipped toffee. Medium bodied with a sticky, slickish mouthfeel. Sweet malt laced with coffee and vanilla on the palate. Finishes with lingering roast, caramel, and a hint of bakers chocolate.
A real sipper and very desert-like. Reminds me of an Irish Coffee.

Can poured into snifter.
Clear straw orange with thin head, sticky lacing.
Aroma is smooth coffee with light grain.
Flavor is sweet, roasty coffee and a layer of grainy malt.
Soft carbonation and syrupy medium body
Tasty, a bit too sweet for me but hides the abv completely

Pours a foggy orange with visible particle suspension. Head is a finger and a half of off-white foam with great retention. Aroma is cold brew coffee, toffee, toasted sugar and nutty, caramely, toasty malts. A peep of the 10% ABV sneaks through and into the nose. Flavor profile is bold cold brew coffee, toffee, molasses, and honey notes right out front. Coffee is a touch bitter, but is tipped towards the sweet side quickly thanks to the sugary notes. Nutty, caramely, toasty malts alongside sticky resiny, citrus hops add bitterness and sweetness, and maintain the lightly sugary balance. Net flavor profile is big and bold coffee, with sugary residual notes and fair malts. Mouth feel is a touch fuzzy with a nearing crisp effervescence. Thickness is medium to medium-thick pending how long it has warmed up in the glass. Overall, big coffee notes in an expressive and sweet barleywine.

16oz. Can
Canned On: 12/17/18
Poured into a Trillium glass a very nice hazy pale orange color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a really nice dark fruit complex (cherries, raisins, figs), coffee, vanilla, toffee, graham crackers. The taste is very nice, hoppy, malty, with a really nice dark fruit complex (cherries, raisins, figs), vanilla, toffee, coffee, graham crackers, nice sweetness. Full Body, ABV hidden very well, a nice complex brew. Overall, a very tasty brew. A nice take on the style. Glad I got a chance to try this. Thanks Matt!

Look is golden amber with little head, very light lacing. The first aroma I got was coffee, but that faded quickly to something sweeter (caramel-like). The first taste was full of light roast coffee, but that is balanced with some vanilla sweetness and a bit of graham cracker. I can barely taste the alcohol, dangerous at this ABV, due to the soft mouth-feel. There is a soft bitterness to the finish, just enough to balance the sweetness that comes. Overall, a very different interpretation of a barleywine compared to any other I've had. Very enjoyable, but definitely sweeter than some of the more conventional barleywines.
