Sunshower is our Super Saison, a high-gravity farmhouse ale inspired by the ethereal refreshing mid-summer moments when we experience both rainfall and the heat of the sun in New England. Similar to our flagship Trillium, the mouthfeel is light and effervescent with a bright, golden hue. We allow the fermentation temperature to free-rise that favors the saison yeast strain’s in the blend to realize its full attenuation potential which results in a dry beer with strength and complexity. Layers of pepper and earthy characteristics that play nice with the crisp, smooth backbone of a pilsner and wheat malt bill. This version showcases the Centennial hop, which provides a floral, lemony brightness in both aroma and flavor.

750 mL bottle. Hazy golden body. Smell is all centennial hops. Tangerine hops. Pilsner malt aroma. Taste follows the nose. Tastes very citrusy up front. Wheat and pilsner malt behind it with a yeasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body. Starts off bright and citrusy and kinda falls off into a bland saison.

This is s nice beer, however doesn't taste much like a saison to me. So if I'm scorining based on that it fails the mark. Don't get me wrong, it's a great beer for people that want to drink a saison that don't like them.

Appearance: Perfectly clear dark golden-yellow. Head is bright-white, loose, and fluffy. Drops a small collar with chunks and lumps of a head. Moderate carbonation on the pour. Bright.
Smell: Tons of Centennial right up front, obviously. Deeply floral with a touch of citrus as well. A touch of funk. Light grain. Grass, hay, and a mild spicy element from the yeast. Slight sweetness. Some biscuit dough and a bit of bitter citrus. Some grapefruit and orange. Touches of Belgian yeast, bubblegum, and a hint of banana. Slightly tropical on the back. Solid wheat presence as well.
Taste: Big wheat profile with a ton of bubblegum and banana. Deeply Belgian at it's base. Sweet pale malts. Biscuit dough with a touch of toasted malt. Hops run grassy and floral with a soft undercurrent of lemon zest and grapefruit. Softer saison elements run through the back. Mildly earthy with some leafy hops. Mild spiciness. Warming ups the spicy esters a bit and tones down some of the sweeter elements. Very little of the Centennial makes it through to the taste, mostly retro-olfaction. Yeasty. Mild fruity backing. Some soft peach.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with a moderate carbonation. Slight astringency. A bit powdery on the sip.
Overall: Another 50 years.
I love Centennial and the nose on this is delightful. The taste loses a bit as it warms and just never quite gets there. A bit too sweet with a stronger Belgian influence than expected.
