Not sure if it was just this can or the batch but the first of m four pack had lots of sediment. Taste was still very good with that hint of a white wine like taste but pouring it in a glass was not making me feel good about it based on how many floaters there were. I’ve had my fair share of beers with floaters and this being only two weeks old still tasted great with only a slight notice in the feel. Hoping the rest of my four pack is floater free though.

Appearance: Pours a hazy honey color with a thin cap; dots and dashes linger behind

Smell: Vinous, grassy and tropical, with a lime twist

Taste: Tropical flavors of papaya and lime, forward, with vinous Pinot Gris must emerging; through the middle, a grassy character develops; all three elements blend together in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Having mastered the NE IPA style, Trillium embarks in another experimental direction and comes up with an interesting, vinous, grassy twist that drinks very nicely

Poured from 16oz can into 20oz Sauvin Glass. Canning date is 11/30/17 (not fresh).

Look: Dark yellow in color, like a faint orange juice color. Hazy and opaque. Small 1/4inch head formed. Moderate lacing.

Smell: Wine white grape upfront, with hop background. Floral notes also present. Slight orange, grapefruit citrus smell but not much. Mostly white wine smell.

Taste: really strange. Hoppy taste, but really overpowering white wine taste. Floral taste is present, but not getting much citrus. To me, the grape juice takes over the entire thing.

Feel: great feel. Medium body, low carbonation. Thick and full bodied.

Overall: I wasn’t sure what to expect with this beer. It looked great and had a great feel. The taste was really unique, but not totally up to my liking. Still, an innovative approach taken by Trillium. Glad I got to try it! Cheers!

16oz can, dated 8.2.17, poured into a Trillium Permutation Series stemmed glass. Enjoyed on 8.27.17, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a super turbid and hazy orange color, golden hues with a foamy white head that offers little retention and a few spots of lace. The aroma leads with white grape, bright and floral with lychee fruit, peach pit and grapefruit citrus with soft pale grain. The flavors are interesting, tons of white grape, vinous acidity, sweet lychee and soft pitted fruits with some floral and grassy hops, citrus peel, strong grain and alcohol heat. The mouthfeel is good, lively medium body, coating and crisp with a very dry and warm finish.

Verdict: A decent DIPA from Trillium. The super fruity nature of this beer mixed with the acidity from the grape juice and overhopped green grassy hops just doesn't blend well for me. The warm alcohol really doesn't help this beer and just accentuates the harshness of the flavors.
