Notes: This past August, we were fortunate to be a part of the inaugural Forever Summer Festival, hosted by The Veil at their brewery in Richmond, Virginia, where JC met owner/Head brewer, Matt Tarpey. Matt’s approach to brewing breaks from conventionalism by pushing boundaries and methodologies. IwanttoBU blends Trillium’s techniques and house character, with The Veil’s unique brewing style to create an incredibly flavorful and aromatic hop forward beer with no kettle hop additions.

IwanttoBU is a 0 IBU beer with no hop additions in the kettle. A large whirlpool addition of El Dorado, Simcoe, Citra and Citra Lupulin Powder, plus a massive dry hop (4 lbs per barrel) of Citra and Simcoe. The nose is filled with notes of pine needles, citrus zest and plum. Flavors of lemongrass and citrus emerge on the palate, complimented by a dank, piney character. The beer finishes with a mild bitterness and malty backbone.

MALT: British Pale Malt, White Wheat, Dextrin, C-15, Dextrose

HOPS: Citra, Citra Lupulin Powder, Simcoe, El Dorado

Look:Hazy opaque orange with a thin white head. Mild activity. Looks like straight up orange juice.

Nose: Vibrant and fruity hops. Explodes from the glass with notes of peach, pineapple, guava, grapefruit, and a light floral finish. All hops.

Taste: Juicy hops. Ripe pineapple, piney green mango, and tart grapefruit. The finish is very young and green with hint of floral. There is a brief flash of honey malt but this fades to a lightly bitter hop finish. All hops.

Feel: So soft on the palate. Drinks sticky from all the hops yet remains quenching. Almost no alcohol detected given the ABV. Finish is dry.

Overall: Incredible. I'm usually pretty hesitant about collaborations as I've been burned in the past but damn is this tasty. It's so juicy and vibrant yet remains so soft on the palate. If other beers have been an ode to the hop then this shit is Hamlet. Outstanding.

got on tap in Canton, they didnt have cans or fills by the time I got there. pours the murkiest or the murky yellow/orange, foamy heads that seems heavy and dissipates very quickly into beautiful lacing. smell is like taking a bag of hops, sticking your nose in it, and inhaling until you pass out.... in a good way lol. peaches, pineapples, mangoes, pine, it's all there. no malt to speak of on the nose. taste was extremely interesting, tastes like straight orange juice garnished with pineapples and peaches (a real fruit salad). the thing that made it interesting was that it had no bitterness, it was very VERY hoppy, but never had a bitter aftertaste. although it was very good, i almost miss the bitterness that should have been there, but the juiciness of the whole ordeal made up for it. feel was very bubbly, it really helped carry out the hop flavor and aroma. great collab by these 2, I'm glad I at least got a pour of it.

As a fan of both breweries, I couldn't turn down the opportunity to try such a unique offering. Drank my four-pack over the course of a few days but wasn't truly convinced on it until my last can. Awesome overripe fruit flavors jump out at you: melon, mango, Fiji apple. Minimal bitterness so it lives up to the name. People on here like to throw around the phrase "hop Juice," but if I've ever come across something that fully exemplified that term, this is probably it.

16oz can poured into a tulip
Canned 11/8/16

A- pours a hazy orange color with a one-finger foamy white head that reduces to a ring around the edge

S- smells of fresh orange juice mixed with leafy green hops, fresh cut grass, pine needle and a hint of garlic

T- opens up with sharp citrus zest, along with resinous pine & grass. Mid-palate brings lemon-grass and a bit of tropical fruit, the finish brings just a hint of sweet malt with lingers of more citrus notes

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and finish, just a hint of abv on the linger

O- in true form of both breweries, a juice bomb. Drinks way too easy for 8%

L - deeply murky orangey brown. Glows beautifully in the light and gets really dark and mysterious at its core. Not much head to speak of.

S - rich candied orange and hints of vanilla. Orange creamsicle and mango juice. Slight crackers and pineapple.

T - pithy orange rind pineapple smoothie. Quite juicy, but also earthy. Not necessarily bitter, but mealy and gritty. Leaves a sandy doughy consistency on the tip of my tongue and roof of my mouth that lasts long after the sip is completed. Creamy flavors, decadent and juicy. Hints of lemon with mango tango. Finishes bone dry with that mealiness really stepping up and leaving me with cottonmouth. Pith city. Orange pith, grapefruit pith, pithy pith.

F - supple and creamy. This drinks like a fruit juice moreso than a beer. The fact that it's carbonated is the only thing keeping it in check!

O - this is just a treat. Hardly beer. Zero alcohol taste and just candied stone fruits galore. Very rindy all around without the bitterness. Unique.

Pours out turbid/hazy like mango/apricot juice.

Aroma is papaya, guava, orange, mango, apricot and a hint of dank piney notes.

Taste is super tropical fruit juice forward! Tons of mango and papaya right up front followed by guava, sweet orange juice, apricot and a hint of pineapple. About midway there is pine, fresh green hops and a dank finish. Super crushable!

Medium bodied, no hint of alcohol, high level of carbonation.

For 0 IBUs there is still a VERY mild bitterness and dry finish. Great stuff!
