Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 13.30%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
In collaboration with J. Wakefield Brewing, Affogato Imperial Stout is inspired by a few of our brewers' favorite summertime pick-me-up (& cool-me-down) Barrington Coffee Roasting Co's affogato. Our Affogato Imperial Stout is delectable, decadent, and smooth. Brewed with a blend of Barrington Coffee Roasting Co. & Mostra Coffee beans, Affogato leads with aromas reminiscent of Vietnamese iced coffee (cà phê đá) - powerful course ground dark roast coffee poured over sweetened condensed milk & ice. Flavors of dark espresso, tiramisu, sweet chocolate cake, and smooth vanilla swirl across the palate. Rich flavor & a dark, inviting appearance, Affogato Imperial Stout is our answer to a sweet summertime treat.

MALT: American 2-Row Barley, Crystal 120, Flaked Oats, Black Malt, Chocolate Malt, Munich Malt, White Wheat Malt, Brown Sugar, Dark Candied Syrup, Lactose

HOPS, ETC: Columbus, Barrington and Mostra Coffees, Vanilla Beans

On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza. Aroma has lots of fresh roasted coffee and sweet malts. Taste has astringent coffee, sweet malt and a light roasty bitterness. Balanced and tasty.

Pours a pitch black with minimal head. Hint of vanilla on the nose. Not as aromatic as when you taste it. It's a syrupy sweet coffee. It's like dark chocolate syrup with a touch of coffee. Not overly complex. Not boozy, but it feels very heavy. That might be a result of the low carbonation. It is very sweet. Overall, it might be one of Trillium's best stouts.

Had on tap at the brewery

Amazing velvety, palate-coating mouthfeel with the perfect amount of carb. Quite similar to Speedway Stout, but less aggressive on the booziness. At over 13% ABV, this is dangerously drinkable and tastes more like 9%. Flavors and aromas are definitely on the sweeter side, and mostly accentuate the coffee character. The coffee is not stale in the least. This is the first non-hoppy Trillium offering I've had and am very impressed.... more impressed than with most of their hoppy offerings, actually

Wonderful coffee notes to the nose and taste. I was a bit surprised that this is not richer - the mouthful was slightly thin compared to Monster's Park we shared shortly afterwards.
