What started as a special treatment to celebrate our 5th Anniversary, is now a small scale batch! We started with the base recipe for PM Dawn American Stout, then slightly dialed back the ratio of cold brew Italian Roast from Barrington to allow the heavy dose of Peanut Butter to find it's perfect place in the flavor profile and balance the beer.

Peanut Butter PM Dawn presents an opaque black with brown head and lacing. A strong nose of freshly ground peanuts, chocolate peanut butter milkshake and hints of dark plum from the coffee, is followed by a full bodied palate, rich with complementary flavors of roasty coffee, swirling dark chocolate/cocoa and finishes with delicious peanut butter. Peanut Butter PM Dawn conjures memories of one of our favorite early brew-day quick breakfasts: peanut butter toast and coffee. If you haven't tried it, you should!

MALT: American 2-row Barley, Caramunich, C-60, C-120, Dextrine, Black (Patent), Roasted Barley, Special B, Chocolate Malt, Peanut Butter

Canned 5.11.20, opened 5.21.20

Aggressive pour into a snifter yield a rich tan creamy two finger foam cap With good retention and no lacings, settles to a thin ring over dark brown motor oil

Aroma is coffee, sweetness, creamy peanut butter

Taste is sweet, roasted malts, coffee, peanut butter, milk chocolate

Mouthfeel is no sudsing, lighter syrupy, peanut butter taste lingers

You like peanut butter cups? You’ll like this beer. Imagine you are at Hershey park. Get a mocha coffee with extra cream and sugar and then hop on the roller coaster. Ride it to the top of the incline and then speed down into a vat of creamy peanut butter.

Good beer

9 months old. Can to tumbler.

L: Pours pitch black with a golden brown head that dissipates quickly without leaving any lacing. Plenty of fine, light brown floaters all over the glass.

S: Peanuts, coffee and dark chocolate. Not too sweet.

T: Sweet and salty peanut butter up front followed by notes of dark chocolate, cocoa nibs and a bitter coffeeish finish.

F: Smooth and creamy with a medium carbonation.

O: No-bullshit peanut butter stout which doesn’t taste like a candy bar overpowering you with tons of unnatural sweetness. Instead, the peanut butter notes are integrated nicely into the beer’s coffeeish base. The 9% ABV are hardly noticeable. Great stuff.

Sampling a 16 oz can of this beer, date stamp is 3/23/2022. Part of my winnings for the English Premier League BIF !!
Pouring at cellar temp into a snifter, the beer pours a dark coffee brown color and no light passes through the glass.
A dense tan foam of about 2 cm foams up from a gentle pour and fades slowly to a sturdy edge layer, plus one large island in the center of the glass.
Aroma is rich dark chocolate and a bit of roasted malt. This mixes with some sweeter peanut butter notes, not husky peanut shell, but more like a jar of spreadable PB. No hint of ABV nor any hops at this point in the sampling.
First sip reveals a medium body with very fine and tingly carbonation. The texture is pretty smooth and the beer drinks pretty easy for an imperial stout.
Flavor is dark chocolate and nutty peanut butter, with a little bit of a sweeter note too. This rolls to some roasted malts and a bit of sweetened coffee, definitely not bitter notes here. I dont get any hops nor any booziness anywhere.
This is a smooth peanut butter and dark chocolate cup mashed into a beer can. Drinks easy and feels nice. Pretty quality imperial stout that has good peanut butter character and isnt artificial tasting.

Canned 5/11/2020 - opened 5/8/2022
Poured black and viscous looking, capped with a 1” light brown head that faded fairly quickly and left no lacing.
The aroma was amazing, not so much as the smell alone (which was peanut butter first and stout second) but in the way it provided the peanut butter to the flavor- it wasn’t so much a flavor as much as part of the olfactory experience. I breathed in the peanut butter and drank the stout. Very curious and very cool.
The taste of the stout featured coffee and cocoa and caramel, but that might have been an artifact of the aroma.
The feel was smooth viscosity, just a pleasure to sip and experience.
Not normally a fan of peanut butter in my beer, but this one really works well, even after 2 years.

Pitch black like a stout should be. Trace of a head that faded quickly. Bubbles a bit too loose for a stout. Chocolate and peanut butter on the nose like a Reese's peanut butter cup. A bit boozy on the taste, and a bit thin on the mouth feel.

L- Black, thin head that leaves a rim of mocha suds around the glass....lacing is minimal

S-Roasted peanuts is the first impression......roasted black coffee with peanut shells.......maybe some vanilla, caramel, and wood

T-Taste is more subdued and complex vs. the nose........a nice blend of chocolate, coffee, and smooth creamy peanut butter....none of which takes the lead not sits in the background......finish is a lingering Reese's PB Cup without the sweetness

M-Smooth, creamy.....not much carb.,. Medium bodied

O- First OB Beer I have had.....very good......probably better during the winter vs a mid 60's spring day.....will let one rest til the fall

Wow. I’ve forgotten about this one in the back of my fridge for a LONG time. Like, almost a year. I keep a beer inventory list on my phone, and I remember seeing this a few months ago and thinking “oh, I must’ve already had this, I’ll take it off my list”. Let’s see how it holds up over nearly a year

Pours a very dark brown with a finger of tan head that fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing

The peanut butter has kinda faded in this, but it feels somewhat more mature. I’m picking up on aromas of dark chocolate, roasted peanut, dark malt, and a touch of whiskey

A little more peanut butter in taste, but again it’s aged quite a bit. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting roasted malt, milk chocolate, and slightly spicy alcohol. The swallow brings notes of chalky peanut butter, caramel malt, milk chocolate, and a touch of hot alcohol

A full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting a very slick beer. Finishes mostly dry with a nice sweetness

Good stuff here, but nothing mind blowing. Still happy I found it in the back of my fridge tho

16 oz. can. Black. Smells of peanut butter and a little roasted malt. Tastes of peanut butter. Lots of peanut butter. A little sweet maltiness. Medium heavy. More peanut butter than any beer I've had. Not sure I love it, but at least it doesn't have any peanut butter weird off flavors.
