Notes: We teamed up with our friends at The Veil Brewing Co. to brew our first Wild Ale together. Primary open fermentation in our coolship with a classic saison strain and a long secondary fermentation in stainless with both brettanomyces claussenii and our native New England mixed culture.

Stroka pours an enticing deep cherry hue with a foamy violet head. Vibrant aromas of wildflowers meet the nose alongside a bold note of strawberry with a hints of raw honey and earthy funk. A berry forward palate calls to mind flavors of freshly picked dark cherries and raspberries, with subtle cranberry leading into a delicate, vinous red wine grape profile. Lightly floral with the suggestion of hibiscus and rose hip, Stroka has a gentle level of acidity with a light body and clean finish.

330ml bottle dated 5/24/18.

Pours deep purple with a purple head. Retention is short-lived with zero lacing. Currants, red grapes, wine, and clovey phenolics in the nose. Medium bodied with a tacky, jammy mouthfeel. Ripe dark fruits on the palate and tart. Currants, blueberry, blackberry and red wine. Finishes jammy with a mildly acidic dryness.

Great beer, reminds me of St. Lamvinus.

Drank from an 11.2 fl oz (330 ml) bottle purchased at Trillium Brewing Company, Boston, MA
24/MAY/18
Served in a tulip

Beautiful appearance. The garnet colored body was topped by a bubbly, finger-plus tall, magenta colored crown that quickly dropped to a thin, frothy halo. Even with a careful pour, lots of yeast particles could be seen throughout the liquid. A few small dots of lacing trickled down the glass.

The nose was excellent. Really tart and fruity. Very Brett-forward. There was a strong powdery and dry yeasty quality initially. As the head died down, the yeast notes decreased and the fruity sourness came forth. Raspberry was most apparent. Maybe some dark cherry as well. Moderately sweet. Bit of red wine vinegar. Slightly dusty.

The flavor was definitely more crisp, tart and dry. Big red wine vinegar notes. Some red wine too. Raspberry was noticeable on the front end. Touch of dark cherry too. Hint of sweetness. Loads of lemon and acidity in the center. More vinegar-like tartness and acidity on the back end and the finish. The fruity notes intensified as the beer warmed.

Nice crisp, sprightly mouthfeel. Lighter bodied for the style. The beer contained a larger bubbled, fairly aggressive effervescence that turned fluffy on the palate.

Stroka is a interesting wild ale that contains a nice mix of Bretty tartness, red wine notes and fruity sweetness. Though I enjoyed Oenobier more, this was an interesting sour and quite refreshing on a hot summer day.

I aged a second bottle of this in cold temps all summer and just tried it tonight; much more mellow and less funky after aging, I even felt compelled to upgrade my rating; excellent sour

Pours a deep maroon body with a great dark purple bead that has specks of fruit in it. Looks real nice.

Aromas are strawberry, cherry, hisbiscus, grassy and tart. Taste is heavy tart cherry, strawberry, yeasty funk, lightly tannic with moderate sourness. Easy drinker, medium carb with medium heavy ness.

11.2 oz. bottle dated 24/May/18

Pours maroon dark red with a dense creamy frothy bright pink foam head. Smells like red wine, red fruit jam, mild funk, wildflowers, tart black currants, vinous Pinot Noir grapes, strawberry, cherry, red plum, some malty grain, slight raw honey, a hint of spice, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like tart sour berries, acidic cranberry, strawberry, cherry, red plum, raspberry, black currants, vinous Pinot Noir grapes, red wine, jammy red fruits, mild funk, some malty grain, wildflowers, hibiscus, rose hip, some spice, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium bodied, creamy with smooth moderate high carbonation. Overall a real nice and interesting wild ale aged on black currants and Pinot Noir grapes.
