Notes / Commercial Description:
Permutation #62 pushes past the bounds of the upper limits of hoppy beer that we have explored so far! Building off our learnings from developing, brewing and conditioning both newer double and triple IPAs as well as milestone hop giants like Headroom, this triple IPA centers on some of our favorite varietals to sets the new high water mark for the largest hop charge, to date. We've learned alot about the notion and perception of our own limitations in so many aspects these days, we buckled in to drive past what we thought possible could be experienced in hop saturation with Permutation 62.

Expect a heavy haze apearance in the glass, with leaping aromas of pineapple, freshly squeezed, then concentrated orange juice and musky melon. Taste follows aroma, with deep and boundless layers of citrus and apricot candies. Luxurious mouthfeel partners with a backup bitterness to round out this investigation into the depth of possibilities of hoppy beer.

MALT: White Wheat, Pilsner, Flaked Wheat
HOPS: Galaxy, Citra, Mosaic, and Vic Secret

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Trillium Brewing Company, Boston, MA
Canned on 08/28/18
Served in a tulip

Completely opaque, bright orange appearance. This looked a lot like Tang. The body was topped by an inch-tall, bubbly, cream colored crown that slowly fell to a thick, clingy collar. Some odd shaped patches of lacing stuck along the glass.

The nose was a total fruit bomb. Big mango presence. Loads of overripe melon. Both honeydew and cantaloupe came to mind. Peach notes were also apparent. Good dose of bright citrus as well. Juicy orange notes specifically. Quite sweet overall but not excessively so. Hint of dankness.

The flavor profile was super fruity and even sweeter than I anticipated from the aroma. Huge malt presence on the front end. Almost candy like. Loads of citrus too. Juicy orange notes for sure. Canned mandarins were also apparent. Touch of sweet-tart tangerine-like tanginess. Some peach notes were also detectable. Wheaty and slightly tart in the center. The beer finished with an interesting mix of orange peel, a hint of pithy bitterness and a lingering, candy malt sweetness.

Nice full bodied mouthfeel. Perhaps even a touch syrupy. The liquid contained a fine, fairly zippy effervescence that turned frothy and fluffy on the palate.

Holy sweetness. Triple IPAs can often be malty and somewhat sweet, but I would go so far as to call this particular one cloying. Permutation Number Sixty-Two might contain the largest hop bill of any Trillium beer to date, but it definitely pales in comparison to Headroom and most of their other more extreme hoppy offerings.
