Notes / Commercial Description:
Our tour of the New England coastline continues with the launch of our Lighthouse Series. Like the Harbor Island IPAs, our brewing team's innovative Permutations were the genesis for these beers. With amplified strength, the Lighthouses will continue to showcase specific hops while paying homage to historic New England landmarks.

Marblehead Lighthouse was first lit in 1835, but its conic skeletal form was added in the late 1890s. For over 100 years now its unique shape has overlooked the North Shore of Boston. Our Marblehead Lighthouse double IPA uses Citra hops to build off the foundation we explored in recent Permutation double IPAs.

The beer pours with a bright orange shade and a moderate amount of haze, capped by soft white foam. A nose of ripe orange, grapefruit and lime leads into flavors of tangerine, pineapple and mango. Mellow, fruity sweetness provides a contrast to pleasant citrus pith.

MALT: Pale Malt, Honey Malt

HOPS: Citra

Draught at Thompson place.

Dark orange and murky appearance. Candied mango and grapefruit in the nose and on the palate. A bit sweet and malty with a low bitterness. Finishes with plenty of tropical fruit and some malty sweetness.

Tasty beer but I'm not a fan of the new yeast. Drier and less malty would be nice.

The retool on the malt bill has really helped this series. This one is sweet for sure, but it’s honey back gets a better meld with the hops, almost creating a clover honey finish. Big beer. Tasty but a one and done.

Canned two weeks ago.

L -- Hazy orange as per usual, maybe a little darker from the malts. Finger of quickly dissipating sudsy white head
S -- Orange, melon, lime zest,
T -- Classic citra-dominant NEIPA: grapefruit rind, oily hop resins, orange zest, sweet crackery malt character, herbaceous overtones
F -- Crisp and semi-sweet. Restrained bitterness on the finish
O -- Proof that citra is a great (the best?) hop for a single-hopped IPA/DIPA

Can poured into a teku glass

Hazy orange crowned by a bubbly, frothy white foam cap, recedes in about 3 minutes, some lacings

Fragrant on the pour, aroma of orange, grapefruit

Taste is orange, lime

Low sudsing, full of hop flavor but no bite, a quaffable 8.9% abv IPA

Really good beer, repeatable
