Notes: Gay Head Lighthouse' eponymous beer is a double IPA brewed with Mosaic hops and pours with a hazy orange straw coloring. Bursting aromas of fresh and vibrant citrus lead through to a palate ample with flavors of sweet tangerine, lemon granita, candied grapefruit slices, and overripe pineapple. With a medium body and carbonation, Gay Head Lighthouse has a gentle floral bitterness.

Only thing good about it is high alcohol content so good for getting drunk if that’s the goal. Tastes awful though so hard to drink a lot. I have had worse beer (bush is worse, old milwaukee is about the same), but at this price point it’s a no go. It is comparable in taste to Natty Daddy. Tastes like a wet stanky boot.

Appearance: Pours very cloudy and amber colored with a two finger head; squiggles of lacing linger

Smell: Blueberry, mango, tangerine and green onion all drizzled with honey

Taste: Honeyed blueberry and mango forward with candied tangerine adding sweetness and bitterness, through the middle; green onion in the finish

Mouthfeel: Creamy and medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation

Overall: This was just canned a few days ago and I think it is a bit green; perhaps in a week or two the green onion dominance of the finish will recede so I am giving it the benefit of the doubt in my rating

Beer pours hazy orange with a turbid white head. Doesn’t stick around all too long. Smell is seeet and tropical. The beer comes off big. I can almost smell a little alcohol
Flavor is alcohol first (first sip) as it shocks the taste buds. Then sweet and mangoish. Numbs the tastebuds after a few sips with its small bitter taste.
Good beer but too big and sweet to drink more than one. You feel all 8.9% of this

On tap. White head with lace. Hazy golden sunset orange.

Pineapple, tangerine, papaya. Very tropical. Slight alcohol bite shows, but minimal. Some floral hops. Mango. Very enjoyable.

i also have the 11/27 release and its still a tad hot.... considering it's 9.8% it's fairly easy to drink but even Hopslam before it kind of put it to shame even though it has some excess maltiness to it... this is good, but maybe just cannot shake the heat and abv to it?

Can from Jeff with a born on date of 11/27/2018. Hazy cloudy murky orange with a thin white bubbly head. Onion tropical fruits bread and I might be crazy but sour milk. Flavor is tropical and gritty Glad to try this but it was only decent to me.

16oz can.

Pours murky gold with a dense, short head of off-white. Retention and lacing is moderate. Dank and garlicky in the nose. Honey-drizzled guava rubbed with green onions. Medium bodied with a creamy, chewy mouthfeel. Sweet malt with resinous weed and onion-rubbed citrus on the palate. Finishes sweet with plenty of honey, weed, and garlic.

Canned 11/27/18. Both the Lighthouse and Harbor Islands Series are a cool concept, highlighting local landmarks and destinations. And those places should be honored to have such amazing beer named in their honor! With Mosaic being the highlight hop here, tropical citrus is obviously the main flavor. I’m not getting the flavors in the description because I don’t have a professional palate, but I believe what they say. Properly pungent and dank without being bitter. Drinkability off the charts, naturally, and a creamy mouthfeel. Somewhat dry in the finish and also a tad sweet, almost approaching cloying. This is a palate wrecker and a beer to end the night with, as few beers can come after this. Another stellar beer from Trillium.

Orange beer with a finger of slightly off white head. A few random globs of lacing left behind. Smells sweet with pineapple, tangerine, mango and grapefruit. Tastes sweet and pleasantly bitter with a lingering tangerine flavor. Mainly it tastes like pineapple, mango and tangerine with a floral and pithy finish. Really great beer.

A beer to be reckoned with. Dank, spicy, and extra thick (but not syrupy!).
Look: Dark, cloudy amber
Smell: Hops and alcohol
Taste: Thick. Not that boozy, spicy
Feel: Zesty mouthfeel
Overall: Wow
