Permutation Series #6.26: India Pale AlePermutation Series #6.26: India Pale Ale
Notes: Brewed at our Canton location, Permutation 6.26 is a new IPA set upon a simple base of pale malts and hopped with Mosaic and Denali. Pouring a hazy light orange color with a billowing white head, Permutation 6.26 is swirls bold aromas of ripe pineapple cubes, pressed citrus, and tropical melon that extend right through to the palate. Taking a sip, flavors of mango, grapefruit, blood orange, and mixed berries add depth balanced against notes of lightly sweet barley. Medium bodied with a rounded mouthfeel, Permutation 6.26 has a pleasant spruce tip bitterness and a clean, mouthwatering finish.

L - dark brownish yellow with meager haze. Kinda flat all around. Nice size on this head, but it's fragile. Quickly dissipating...

S - lemon candy and bready malts. Orange jam sweetness and maybe a hint of pine. Berries.

T - loaded up with mixed berries and evergreen. Somewhat reminiscent of Foundation beers. Bit of a sticky, malty sugariness complements white bread and that classic mosica lemony graininess. Finishes strong with herbal dryness and oily hop leftovers.

F - viscous and full for sub-8 ABV. Creamy but not too thick and syrupy. Clean finish.

O - somewhat underwhelming and standard mosaic beer, but it does feature fantastic body and hearty satisfaction.

Smells like some potent ganja with summer berries mixed in, with citrus, melon, pineapple and tropical fruits in the background. Tastes like ripe mixed berries, citrusy grapefruit, lemon, blood orange, light tropical fruits, pineapple, melon, mango, a hint of toast, with dank earthy herbal resinous floral pine. Medium-full bodied, creamy smooth.

Not a super hazy beer on appearance- more of a traditional orange ipa body with some nice pearly lacing.

Nose definitely shows the mosaic with some melon and oj notes along with some good malt depth

Taste has a pretty strong sweetness up front that fortunately drys a bit with some later bitterness and almost tart notes. Berries? Definitely get that ripe tropical fruit tones along with more melon

Velvety in the mouth - would be a nice winter ipa when I want something to stick to my ribs. Just dry enough to leave a pleasant linger, but a tad too coating as it warms up.

Just ok by trillium standards. Better than the island/light house series which are far too sweet for me, but not nearly as good as the street beers and og hoppy lineup.

16oz can, dated 08.02.19, poured into a Trillium Permutation Series stemmed glass.

The beer pours a bright orange color, amber hues, hazy and opaque with a foamy white head that rises about two fingers tall with modest retention but yields excellent swatches of soapy lacing. The aroma is pleasant, very green and grassy, dank and herbal with some nice pine, citrus, soft melon and light biscuit malt. The flavors are solid, loads of dank and earthy Mosaic hops, grassy, floral, dank, piney, sappy that does err on the raw and bitter side while there is a nice softness from some cantaloupe and honeydew melon with light citrus peel and a sweet pale grain and mineral water finish. The mouthfeel is good, coating and lively with a medium body that finishes easily with a dry bite that lingers.

Verdict: A nice IPA from Trillium. The Mosaic is nicely expressed, very dank and yet still has a fresh fruit quality with the citrus and melon components. It's perhaps a bit too dry and raw at times, but still, this hits the mark.
