Mosaic Double Dry Hopped Cutting TilesMosaic Double Dry Hopped Cutting Tiles
Notes: Cutting Tiles is an exploratory series of Double IPAs featuring a range of aromatic single hop varietals brewed with raw local wildflower honey, which allows for a remarkably deft and dry body while simultaneously providing an earthy backbone.

As we continue to push the boundaries of hopping rates, we're excited to debut our first double dry-hopped addition to the Cutting Tiles lineup. Brewed with an amplified amount of PNW Mosaic hops, DDH Mosaic Cutting Tiles presents a warm orange with a soft, glowing haze. The nose offers a potent blend of sweet stone fruit, with interwoven notes of peach rings, candied apricot, and juicy pineapple. A delicate earthy honey character pokes its head out on the palate, resting upon a full and fluffy body. Finishing mildly sweet with a kick of piney bitterness, DDH Mosaic Cutting Tiles is a welcomed evolution of our beloved Honey IPA recipe.

ABV: 8.7%

Malt: Pilsner, Flaked Wheat, White Wheat, C-15

Hops: Mosaic

Additional Ingredients: Raw Local Wildflower Honey

This DDH take on cutting tiles is a great one in my view. Great balance of fruity, spicy, piney hoppy goodness. This one is more on the earthy, piney scale than juice bomb territory, which I appreciate. There’s a solid amount of lingering hop oils and bitterness on the finish- it really lingers. Glad I picked this one up, the cutting tiles series is one of my favorites. With the DDH treatment it really knocks it out the park.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Trillium Brewing Company, Boston, MA
Served in a tulip

The beer poured a cloudy, dark yellow ochre hue, not too dissimilar from peach nectar. A small, finely bubbled, off white crown topped the liquid, but it quickly fell to a thin collar. No lacing whatsoever.

The aroma was outstanding. Super fruity and bold. Ripe mango dominated. Loads of juicy peach too. There was a subtle weed-like dankness as well that became more prominent as the beer warmed. Citrus was also noticeable. Tangerine for sure. Bit of orange. Sweet overall but not excessively so for the style.

The flavor profile was also fantastic. Citrus notes came through big time. Loads of juicy orange and tangy tangerine. Ripe peach and mango notes were also noticeable. Pineapple appeared in the center. More orange and pithy orange rind on the back end and the finish. Hint of lingering bitterness.

Excellent fluffy mouthfeel. Medium-full bodied for the style. The liquid contained a fine, zippy effervescence that turned ultra frothy and smooth on the palate.

All the beers in Trillium’s Cutting Tiles series have been impressive, and this Mosaic double dry hopped variant is one of their best to date. While the Mosaic presence was a bit more understated than in many of Trillium’s other IPAs, the juicy, fruity hop character was off the charts.

A - Opaque, Tang hues. Big bubbles and pillowy, tan foam. Solid lacing.
S - Like an orange slice.
T - Mango with a lot of acid bite. Pretty sweet with slight bubblegum tones.
M - Syrupy on the front, with the acidity on the back and dryness in the throat.
O - Really nice beer. Easy drinking but a lot of subtlety when you take some time with it.

More like a 3.75. Great before going from bottles to cans yet at times batches have been drain pours.

16oz can dated 12/6/19.

Pours cloudy gold with a short-lived head of white with minimal retention. Grapefruit and dank weed in the nose. Medium bodied with a creamy, almost chewy mouthfeel. Pithy citrus on the palate with a drying bitterness. Grapefruit with peach skins. Finishes dry with citrus zest and zero malt.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy honey color with a one finger head; splashy lacing

Smell: Tangerine and apricot, with a dank element

Taste: The dankness is strong here, with tangerine and apricot flavors subsumed; just a touch of honeyed sweetness underneath, pithy bitterness increases, after the swallow, and lingers over the otherwise dry finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: This is an NE IPA that leans in an old school direction, bringing a good quantity of bitterness along with the tropical juice aspect

Thanks, BostonDipas, for the opportunity

Sweet, tropical hoppy, and slightly dank nose on this one! Taste follows exactly! Tropical hoppy dank notes upfront and throughout the swallow. This is just straight Mosaic hop goodness! Outstanding!
