Notes: The Assorted Treats series was born out of the desire to create a daily-drinking version of our culinary-inspired stouts. Designed to encapsulate some of our favorite after-dinner sweets, our Dessert Series imperial stouts are decadent, rich, and often on the higher end of the ABV spectrum. With Assorted Treats, you won't need a special occasion or group of friends to enjoy a little self-indulgence.

We're kicking off the series with Peanut Butter Bite - a 6.5% ABV stout that presents a glass-coating cocoa tone with a fluffy, tawny-colored head. Sweet aromas of chocolate-covered peanut butter immediately greet the nose. Supplementary toffee, burnt sugar, and roasted coffee notes intermingle towards the back of the palate. Medium-bodied, with impressive drinkability, Peanut Butter Bite finishes with just a kiss of sweetness.

Small beige head which completely dissipates and provides no lacing whatsoever. Deep dark brown where no light passes.

The smell is mostly deep dark chocolate with just a touch of sweetness.

The body is extremely rich with a very low carbonation level. This enhances the dark chocolate. Lots of roasted black patent malt to provide bitterness. There's a smoothness which may come from some sort of peanut butter but it isn't obvious. Shorter than expected aftertaste.

This is a strange beer in the fact that it has my ratings all over the place:
Look - Black with essentially no head or lacing. Look is mediocre.
Smell - Fabulous. Peanut Butter and some chocolate and some roast.
Taste - Lots of roast, some chocolate and a kiss of peanut butter. Peanut Butter is mostly in the nose. Finishes slightly dry and bitter. Super easy to drink for a dessert stout. I could actually crush this.
Overall its a good beer but the mouthfeel is very thin, Which I don't mind for a light dessert stout.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a tulip glass.

Pours a deep, dark brown color with minimal khaki head. The head is gone instantly, leaving little lacing as it settles into fuck all. Trillium does not know how to make good looking dark beers.

Fortunately, the aroma is fantastic. There's restrained notes of milk chocolate and cocoa powder followed by a wave of peanut butter and peanut brittle. There's some brown sugar and a touch of roasted coffee on the back end.

The flavor brings lots of dark roast malts, milk chocolate, and cocoa powder. The middle brings a wave of peanut butter and roasted nuts. There's some faint coffee, brown sugar, and caramel on the finish. The peanut butter lingers on the tongue.

The feel is medium bodied with lower carbonation. Very soft and creamy. Drinks far heavier than its ABV.

Overall, a great dessert stout that is shockingly well-balanced. It's sweet, and definitely tastes like peanut butter covered in chocolate, but the roasted malt is ever present and there's a subtle coffee note that adds some faint bitterness.

Purchased at Trillium Fenway 12/24/2019 and consumed from a Tulip glass.

Pours a dark black with around 1/4" of light head that disappeared very quickly and produced no lacing.

The first smell is of peanut butter with hints of cocoa. As the beer warmed up the peanut butter dwindled and left me with a nice cocoa and dark malt profile.

The taste is completely opposite. Straight from the fridge the flavors are of unsweetened cocoa and the roasted malts that no doubt comprise the base beer. As the beer warmed more of the peanut butter and sweetness came out. Beer is currently sitting around 50F and I am getting a ton of peanut butter, cocoa, and a hint of the malt profile.

The beer is much less viscous than I would have expected from this beer. Very light in the mouth and the only real lingering flavor is peanut butter.

Overall this beer is a fantastic sweet stout and perfect for a nice cold winter day.
