Notes: Each year, the women of Trillium get together to brainstorm a recipe, run the concept through benchtop testing, and ultimately brew the beer on the Pink Boots Society's Celebration Brew Day. Utilizing our Daily Serving base, layers of blackberry, lemon, and fresh ginger juice were woven in to create a final beer that is delightfully tart and full-bodied, while remaining deft and refreshing.

The labels in our Daily Serving series display a standard receiving scale that depicts the weight of fruit in each 16oz can. For the Level Playing Field edition, our Graphic Designer Leah Martocci hand-illustrated a uniform, two-sided scale, representing Trillium's focus on maintaining a workplace with a balanced gender makeup. To read more about the story behind this beer, check out our blog titled, 'Leveling the Playing Field.'

Daily Serving: Level Playing Field presents an eye-catching deep plum color. Holding the glass to light unveils ruby highlights and a glowing, heavy haze. The nose is nuanced, never sitting idly, but rather shifting from mid-harvest blackberries and bright cherry to lemon verbena and zesty ginger root. Gratifyingly full-bodied, with a sweetness that effortlessly balances the beer's tart approach, Daily Serving: Level Playing Field finishes lively, with scrubbing carbonation.

It looks great for sure. It’s missing on the smell, I wonder if that’s due to it being a month old? I’m loving this mix of flavors though. I can pick out the blackberry, ginger and lemon but they’re in great balance. I just wish they could dial up the alcohol more. It’s a nice summer poolside brew in the end. I favor the 450 North versions in general over this one example I’ve had from Trillium. Still worth picking up for sure!

No dating on the can whatsoever, but this was brewed on Pink Boots Society's Celebration Brew Day (March 8th 2020), so this fruited berliner weisse is about 3 weeks in the can.

Pours a completely opaque deep ruby red, almost purple with just over two fingers of thick pale magenta head. Subtle nose of with aromas of fresh ginger, tart blackberries, lemon and just a hint of earthy yeastiness. Taste follows the nose with other notes including a hearty graininess, unsweetened cherry rind, herbal tea and white pepper. Medium+ mouth coating body with low bitterness, low+ sweetness and a small tart bite. Definitely a subtle but complex brew, I appreciate it's uniqueness, can't say I've had this mix of flavors in a brew before. If you get a chance to try this and are in to unique brews, pick it up!

Opaque plum rose purple red color with a fluffy pink foam head. Smells like fresh fruity blackberries, refreshing lemon and invigorating ginger root, with a hint of pink peppercorn and herbal spice. Tastes fruity and refreshing, lightly tart with fresh blackberry, lemon, some ginger, dark berry fruit smoothie notes, bready malt, with a hint of floral herbal spice. Feels medium-full bodied, creamy and silky smooth with moderate low carbonation. Overall a really great fruity Berliner Weisse style ale with blackberries, lemon and ginger.
