Notes: Daily Serving was born out of our desire to express intense, saturated fruit character in beer form. After thoughtful experimentation with Permutation 6.47 and 6.51, we found that a base recipe similar to the German Berliner Weisse style, with its delicate, yet fluffy mouthfeel and even-keeled acidity is the perfect foundation for robust fruit additions.

For Twice the Daily Serving, we've amplified the mouthfeel, fruit addition, and ABV to achieve our most expressive and luscious fruit beer to date. The first fruit combination to receive this intensified treatment is blackberry and pomegranate. Pouring an opaque, deep plum color, the aroma is packed with profound fruit character. Ripe blackberry, boysenberry jam, and vivid pomegranate are present on both the nose and the palate. Twice the Daily Serving: Blackberry & Pomegranate offers a remarkably soft and full-bodied approach, with a welcomed sweet finish.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Trillium Brewing Company, Boston, MA
Served in a Rastal Harmony stemless beer glass

The beer poured a thick and pulpy, violet tinged oxblood hue, not too dissimilar from a berry smoothie. A fluffy, near finger-tall, fuchsia colored crown topped the liquid, but it quickly dissolved. No lacing whatsoever. As the liquid receded, tiny specks of sediment coated the glass.

The aroma was solid but slightly muted initially. Berry notes were apparent. Nice blackberry/raspberry combo. Freshly puréed berries perhaps. Pleasantly sweet but also slightly tart. As the beer sat, the berry presence intensified.

The flavor profile was outstanding. Berry notes again dominated. Blackberry came through big time. Fairly sweet and also moderately tart. I thought I detected some raspberry as well. There was a subtle tartness in the center. Some pomegranate perhaps, but I definitely would not pick it out without prior knowledge of the beer’s ingredients. A subtle lemony tartness appeared on the back end and carried into the finish. Sweet-tart berry notes lingered after the swallow. Later, the pomegranate became more apparent.

Excellent rich, viscous mouthfeel. Pulpy and thick, like a fruit smoothie. The liquid contained a fine, fairly subdued carbonation that worked perfectly for the style.

Many of the beers in Trillium’s Daily Serving and Seesaw series have been impressive, but Twice The Daily Serving: Blackberry & Pomegranate is perhaps their best release to date. This could definitely go head-to-head with many of the top rated juicies from The Answer and 450 North.

Pure fruit juice smoothie. Opaque dark plum rose color with a lasting pink creamy frothy foam head. Smells like intense fruit juice, fruit punch, fresh pomegranate, blackberries, fruit smoothie, jammy dark berry notes, fruit puree, with mild malt and hops. Tastes like pure juice, fruit puree, jammy berry notes, fresh blackberry, pomegranate juice, berry smoothie, jello, dark fruit punch, cherry, with creamy wheat malt and mild floral earthy hops. Feels smooth, creamy, fuller bodied with moderate low carbonation. Overall a really great double fruited Blackberry and Pomegranate Berliner Weisse style ale.

Sweet and slightly tart, pomegranate, and blackberry jam nose on this one! Taste follows with the sweet pomegranate notes upfront and then sweet and tart blackberry jam finish. This has great depth and mouthfeel to it...a thick and full swallow! Outstanding!

“Twice the daily serving” might double as a sugar/sweetness joke, as I found the body of this beer to be gross after about half a can. It’s pretty heavy, and the fruit taste feels like you drank fruit punch cocktail. I prefer stuff that is a little lighter, especially from a Weisse. I would buy these and maybe split a can with someone after dinner with dessert. Or maybe add vodka to it and make a shooter (don’t @ me). Buy with caution, I imagine someone who finds most beers too watery/light would enjoy this, so maybe I’m not the target market. My guess is if you found Trillium’s “Daily Serving” to be light on body and fruit flavor, this is the full Monty.

"Twice The Daily Serving" is a spin-off of the classic with blackberry and pomegranate. I saw others with these ingredients, however, this is marked as 7%. Beautiful color and great tasting fruit beer.
