Served in a Trillium Permutation Series glass

Cloudy yellow ochre appearance. The opaque body was capped by an inch-tall, frothy, off-white head that fell to a medium sized collar. A few dots and steaks of lacing stuck along the glass.

The aroma was really hoppy and bold. Peach and mango notes came through strong. Touch of apricot too. Pleasantly sweet. Citrus notes were also apparent. Orange and tangerine specifically. Some pineapple was noticeable as well. Hint of dankness.

The flavor profile was also impressive. Peach and mango notes led things off. Citrus came through as well. Juicy orange and tangerine notes for sure. Pineapple appeared in the center. More orange and orange peel on the back end. The beer finished somewhat harsh and boozy initially with lingering pithy, bitter, orange and grapefruit rind-like notes. As the beer warmed, the bitterness subsided and the sweet fruity notes came forth.

Outstanding mouthfeel. Medium-full bodied for the style. The liquid contained a finer bubbled, fairly zippy effervescence that turned super creamy, fluffy and smooth on the palate.

Trillium’s approach to their recent Permutation Series beers is an interesting one, especially during the time of Covid when the logistics of beer making can be tricky. Permutation 7.03 was impressive from the start and definitely improved as it warmed. I would love to sample this next to Scaled Up and see how they compare.
