Headroom is about pushing boundaries. From its first batch brewed on Congress St. in 2015 to today, Headroom stands as a landmark, watershed beer in terms of our evolution as a brewery. Conceptually, we sought to create our boldest, most daring, hoppiest beer we could possibly dream up. Our ability to conceive and brew new Double Dry Hopped Double and Triple IPAs is born out of our foundational experience brewing Headroom. Five years later, we've taken Headroom's base recipe and ridiculous dry hop charge but applied a new hop combination in Citra and Mosaic.

Legroom pours a viscous light straw color with a dense haze. The aroma offers mouth-watering fruit smoothie notes reminiscent of candied pineapple, juicy fruit gum, ripe peach, and zesty ruby red grapefruit. On the palate, a burst of papaya and mango nectar round out an incredibly tropical drinking experience. Unlike its cousin Headroom, which boasts a resinous edge, Legroom is remarkably soft with a creamy mouthfeel and very low perceived bitterness.

16oz can dated 12/10/22.

Pours cloudy yellow with a short-lived head of white. Minimal retention or lacing. Unripe peach with grapefruit and lemon-lime in the nose. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. Pungently hoppy on the palate with a solid bitterness and minimal malt. Hard peaches, white grapes, and grapefruit. Finishes pithy and juicy with lingering lemon-lime.

Canned 12/06, it pours cloudy orange color which looks like a glass of pineapple juice, with a 2 finger off white colored head that faded average to quickly and left minimal spotty lacing. Smells super dank like fresh squeezed orange juice, lemon juice, mango, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, biscuit, lime, yeast, piney notes and peppery spices. The citrus fruit dominated and this aroma gave off lots of leafy dry hop accents.

Tastes like it smells with everything listed above plus tea leaf, grassy hops, honeydew melon, dry toasted grains, coriander and orange peel. The complex citrus juice flavors help mask the ABV and made every sip nice and complex. The finish is dry and fades with red grapefruit.

3 weeks old. Can to tumbler.

Look: Pours a light yellow. Hazy and full. Thin foam that disappeared in the blink of an eye. Almost no sediment.

Smell: Light and citrusy. Almost indistinguishable.

Taste: Hoppy citrus with a fruity start and a zesty finish. Piny bitterness present all the way.

Feel: Juicy mouthfeel. Not particularly creamy despite its full and hazy look. Sharp hopburn backed by a low to medium carbonation.

Overall: Edgy and challenging New England IPA showcasing central chracteristics of various citrus fruits. Really nice beer which would have been even better with a bit more creaminess to bridle the immense hopburn.

Pours an ugly opaque milky golden. No head to speak of. Only thing that could've made it worse is dense hop particulate in suspension. Light amount of tropical fruit on the nose. Not at all bursting as golden era trill would. Good use of citra and mosaic up front but a bit vegetal on the finish. Not burn, but a little bracing. Overall, it's an unrefined IPA.

A-Straw yellow with a ring of white head around the rim of the glass
S-Tropical fruit medley with mango, pineapple and a slight musty raisin aroma
M-Perfect juicy mouthfeel with a full body and low end carbonation. There is a slight hop burn but it does not get in the way
T-Sweet upfront with a wonderful citrus pith bitterness that is smooth and well balanced
O-This is an outstanding beer.

On tap at the Brewery on Thomson Pl.

Over the top extreme New England IPA. As the bartender noted to another patron - folks either love it or hate it. I’m not a hater but I won’t order this beer again. Funny how I have lots to say when I don’t like a beer. 3.75

A - Extremely ugly. Cloudy to the point of “was that a floater I saw?” Zero head and lacing. Maybe the closest I’ve seen to real orange juice with a beer. 3.5

S – Aroma was somewhat flora but dominated by resiny aromas. 3.5

T - Too bitter for me, bordering on acrid. No sweetness. Very faint fruit. 3.5

MF - Medium light body. Very dry. Bitterness is lasting on the palate. 3.75

Thanks, Darin!

Was lucky enough to have this and nine others sent to me by Darin. Included in the haul was a handful of Trillium beers. Trillium’s website description was “Headroom is about pushing boundaries. Conceptually, we sought to create our boldest, most daring, hoppiest beer we could possibly dream up. Poured a light golden hazy color with three fingers of frothy off-white head. Some bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. World-class foamy contention. (Sight - 4.50)

Wow. Great on the nose. Smelled Mosaic, tangerine, red grapefruit, Citra, mango, peach, Juicy Fruit, papaya, pineapple, pine and wet grass. Maybe even better out of the can with more Citra than from the glass. (Smell - 4.50)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose but still really good. Got Mosaic, mango, papaya, Juicy Fruit, Citra, red grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, pine, wet grass and lingering spice on my lips. (Taste - 4.50)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, dry finish. (Feel - 4.50)

Damn. I kept wanting to knock this down a peg or two but it was so damn good. Just a world-class New England Double / Imperial IPA. (Overall - 4.50)

Many thanks to PhineasMcClintock for this can.

A - Medium opaque orange gold with thin lacing.

S - Pineapple, citrus, peach, mango, peppery citrus rind.

T - Follows the nose with pineapple, spicy citrus rind, peach, mango, citrus, peppery spice. Ends on the sweeter side with lingering sweet peppery citrus rind and light bitterness.

M - Big body with a thick texture.

O - This is a fantastic beer and worthy of its status.
