Notes / Commercial Description:
The simplicity of Trillium’s grist of barley and wheat delivers a wonderfully complex, yet approachable, American farmhouse ale. Our house farmhouse yeast blend, along with American hops, drive a distinctive character in this rustic, unfiltered ale. Trillium expresses a beautiful nose of peppery spice, coupled with flavors of fermentation-derived fruit and more pepper. Firm bitterness and effervescent carbonation combine with a satisfyingly smooth mouthfeel from the wheat.

Beautiful dark straw colored, almost has hints of rose. Small bubbly head that recedes leaving small amounts of lacing and soapy bubbles down the glass. Rustic wheatiness, some barnyard, pear and lemon on the nose. A simple yet tasty beer. Grainy, lightly fruity from the yeast, spices make it very drinkable.
Crisp and fizzy mouthfeel.

Hazy pale golden in color with a white head. Aroma is peach, pears, bit of spice and a little sweetness. Flavors follow but the aroma is a tad better than the flavor. Just a hair sweet for me as well. But overall a really great beer.

Beautiful beer. I have to go back and re-try every Saison ever to see if this is really as good as I think it is. Amazing aroma of pear and orange, smooth flavor of warm grass, barnyard fun and a clean finish of pepper. So damn good.

L: Dark golden yellow, hazy. Pours a nice head that remains a while, leaves a light lace.
S: Nice complex aroma. HInts of citrus, pepper, grass, and wheat. Also some of those yeast esters as well. Great aroma, reminds me of a big piece of fresh dough ready to be baked.
T: Starts off with a wheat sweetness, like that of sweet bread. Shortly after you get spicier notes, peppery phenols, and a dryness of common herbs used in cooking. Has hints of lemongrass as well
F: At first, remarkably smooth, frothy and light. Like whipped cream. Finishes with a bit of bit though, from both the carbonation and the hops and spicier elements of the flavor.
O: Excellent saison. Wish there was a tad more sweetness but one of the better examples I've had. Would recommend.

From the 750 ml. bottle. Sampled on March 3, 2016. The real name of this beer is Trillium Trillium Farmhouse Ale.

The pour is a murky, foggy looking pale yellow-olive with a big white foamy head that settles back momentarily.

The aroma has an array of traditional Belgian characters such as a bold yeasty note, toasted bread, cracker, clove, pepper, apple, and pear.

Medium body.

The taste is at once traditional Belgian with a pleasant sweetness coupled with pepper, spice, apple, pear, and mildly bitter finish. Highly drinkable.

Don't get a whole lot of pepper but I do get a warm fruitiness. Little bit of wheat, mild funkiness. Feels, out of ten, 7 on the carbonation scale. Really solid farmhouse. Enjoyed it a lot!

Poured from a 750ml bottle into an imperial pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains Belgian yeast, wheat, citrus, bananas, light caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of wheat, Belgian yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. Then some sweet flavors of citrus, bananas and caramel come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Very tasty, goes down quite easily, not too filling, decent kick, very good representation of style, this is a very solid beer to drink for a long time if you’re in the mood for the style.

Poured into wine glass. Very bright golden yellow, very clear. No head. Smells of clove, banana, Belgian yeast.
Taste matches the aroma, and has that nice subtle spice to it.

6.4 abv, the listing has a ?

Straw colored with a light white head.

Scents of lemon, wheat and yeast, call me crazy.
Slight biscuity aroma to it.

The taste: nothing overpowering. Everything is middle of the road, which is not a bad thing. Sessionable.

Slightly hazed pale gold color with a thick white head that lasts. Typical saison aroma -- lemongrass, a little white pepper, banana and wheat -- with a touch more sweetness than usual. Distinctive mouthfeel that's crisp up front and hefeweizen-like on the backend. The taste is similar to the nose, with the wheat quite prevalent, some very slight orange juice and a somewhat metallic aftertaste. Pretty solid, but there are so many superb saisons nowadays, wouldn't necessarily go out of the way for this one.

Pours a cloudy golden straw color with a small, fluffy white head. Pretty good lacing and excellent retention.

The aroma is very tart and earthy, with notes of lemon and sour apple. There's also a lot of wheat, and grass, as well as a doughy backbone that smells like fresh bread straight from the oven.

The flavor is wonderfully crisp and lightly floral, with notes of wheat bread, sour apple, and even bananas. There's also a subtle spicy pepper character that comes through on the back end.

The mouth is medium-light bodied with high carbonation. Slightly dry with a bit of lingering bitterness.

Overall, a fantastic saison. It's crisp, refreshing, and very tasty.

A dark straw pour, with a highly carbonated appearance. The nose is of faint clove. The taste is wonderful, with hints of clove, sour apple, ripe banana, and a bit of smokiness. Very original. My only complaint would be the carbonation seemed a bit high.

750mL bottle poured into a tulip.

Pours a cloudy pale orange in color with an inch of rocky white head, good retention but eventually dissipates to only a coating but leaves nice sticky lacing. Inviting aroma; fruity esters, a bit of citrus, herbs, and a bit of spice. Great taste. Lots of fruity esters, namely banana and lemon. Great spiciness, clove and pepper with a bit of an herbal character as well. Medium-light body and high carbonation. Overall, a great beer, very refreshing and nuanced.

Poured from a 750ml bottle purchased at the brewery. I nice cloudy pale yellow color with a bright white head. First off I sensed a slight yeast smell but seemed to quickly change over to a nice wheat aroma. Taste is exceptional and smooth. Not a fan of wheat beers but I was pleasantly surprised how nice this one actually is.

Poured from a 750mL bottle into a pint glass. Purchased at the brewery. Bottled on 8/8/15.

Pours a golden hazy body with a big frothy white head that reduces slowly, leaving fluffy white retention and heavy lacing. Looks nice.

On the nose is freshly baked bread, grain, biscuits, fruity esters, banana, spices.

On the tongue is nice smooth wheat, banana, peppery, slightly sweet caramel notes, definitely some hops on here as there's a peppery bitterness on the follow through that lingers on the tongue for a little while. Nice mouthfeel, medium body and carbonation but easy to drink, refreshing.

Overall very well crafted, nice balance of hops, malt, and wheat

Bomber dated 8/8/15. Poured in a tulip, the beer is a bright, hazy, opaque, golden coloring with a frothy, filmy, clingy, bright white halo of head. Aromas of lemon, melon, grassy notes, cloves, cinnamon, and a bready backbone. The flavors are more herbal and medicinal forward, with a forward blend of lemon, clove, banana, and nutmeg, all on a bready backbone. Some highlights of grassy and peppery hops, with subtle yeast funk. The body is robust, but dry and crisp. The aftertaste is more of the spice blend than anything, with the fruity notes now transitioning to a highlighting role. The finish is crisp and dry, with an herbal linger. Good beer.

Enjoyed within three weeks of bottling. Golden hue with moderate head that lasts. Smells of wheat, spices, coriander and lemon which hits the tastebuds up front but doesn't leave much flavor at the back end. An OK farmhouse ale from the masters of IPA, albeit one that doesn't stand out from other labels brewing a similar style. None of the dryness, tart and slight funk that I look for in the style (even one that's clearly touted as an IPA-heavy version).

Thanks to my brother for bringing this growler back from Trillium especially for our saison tasting at my house. Enjoyed this chilled from the growler in a willybecker.

The color is a beautiful hazed golden shade with a thin white head with fine bead. The smell is mild for the style yet there is a nice yeast scent with slight spice quality and mild herbal aroma. The feel is very good for the style relatively dry and decent high level of carbonation.

The taste is great, not especially intensely tropical or fruity yet there is a definite nod to the traditional Belgian style here with a cracker-like dry malt presence and light yeast spice with slight herbal hop that ends in a dry mild finish without any alcohol flavor to speak of. Overall I find this to be great for what it is -a more traditional take on the style refined and very enjoyable in every way.

750 bottle poured gently into a nonic. A murky, bright yellow beer with a modest white head that fades quickly leaving abundant sticky lacing. S: Yeast, malt and sweet floral herbs. T: yeast, wheaty malt, funky straw. F: Thick, very light carbonation. O: I tried hard to rate to style but this is very much not a typical saison except, maybe, for the yeastiness - certainly it doesn't look like any saison I've had before. Which is fine with me. In fact, I think I shall go open another.

This beer pours with a very large head. It's smell has an herbal hint to it. The taste has a subtle bitterness on the front that mellows. It reminds me of the way pine smells: clean, crisp and invigorating.

this is the house saison and the namesake of this brewery, but frankly, as good as it is, its the least distinct and impressive of the beers I have had from these guys so far, or at least its the least distinct. that said, its elite level base saison, French in its yeast strain with some really interesting floral notes to it and a great mouthfeel. barely hazy at all, honey colored, paler maybe, and without a huge head but with a very lively feel. almost has an elderflower thing going on in the smell and taste between pollenated bitterness and mildly perfume centered hop aromatics on the back end. spice from the yeast is pretty cool though, lemongrass and white pepper come to mind, with a floral complexion from the hops its really cool. there is also some white grape fruitiness to it, although its very dry so that's way back. delicate overall, well flavored and well made, but it really doesn't stand for me above any other awesome saison with a real strong Belgian influence. I just was just so floored by the hoppy stuff maybe that this one stands a step back, but its really good and really drinkable. we crushed our growler pretty darn quickly

bottle showed up today, big thanks to kcbaby for the bottle and matching glass. enjoyed from said artaic glass. bottled 5/19 (10 days ago)

a - brew pours a murky yellow orange more on the orange side. lace is sheets on the glass after the massive frothy ipa head starts to dissipate. opaque to the light.

s - wow. straight up juice. fresh squeezed oj, tangerine, nectarine...tropical burst. there are definite floral and honey notes but it comes across as fresh fruit juice. so much yum.

t/m/o - so good it is hard not to gulp it down in one sit. super refreshing and exactly as the nose suggests, juice. I can't believe this is a beer. homerun slam dunk, hope to have this again.

Bottle purchased at Trillium Brewing Company in Boston, MA.

This one pours a hazy golden yellow, with 3 finger head, and a a good amount of foamy lacing. The head lasts until the last sip, giving me a big mouthful of foam.

This one smells quite yeasty, lots of clove, and indistinguishable spicing-, with some grassy hops and citrus.

This is more along the lines of the dry, spiced sort of saisons, where I tend to prefer the tart, rustic saisons, but this is still done fairly well. There's a lot of white pepper, clove and other spice coming through from the yeast, as well as some mild juicy citrus from the hops, and a bit of grassy hops as well. The yeast is the driver of flavor here, as the clove, pepper, and spice character are the most noticeable things here.

This has a very highly carbonated mouthfeel and body, a bit prickly. It's very drinkable.

Though this isn't my favorite style of saison, I still appreciated this one. Quite tasty.
