The first edition in our Lineage series of farmhouse ales features local wheat from Valley Malt in Hadley, Massachusetts. Bright, clear, and straw-yellow in appearance, Lineage Wheat invites with a complex nose of grassy funk, crisp citrus rind, pepper, and floral white wine. Starting mildy tart, yet not sour, this approachable saison follows through with flavors of earth, musky funk, woody-oak, light wheat, and some balancing, tangy, citrus character. Lineage Wheat is beautifully light in body and dry on the palate.

A 330ml bottle, bottled on 13th April 2018. Poured into a Holy Mountain tulip glass.

Appearance: A hazy straw yellow colour with a two finger white head that had decent retention but settled to a thin cap, while leaving some lacing.

Aroma: Tart, funky, oak, vanilla, apricot, and light citrus rind notes.

Taste: Lightly tart and tangy, citrusy, grapefruit, lemon, funky, oak, with notes of yellow stone fruit and wheat.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Easy drinking, not exactly Saison like, but it has nice aroma and flavours.

a: mix of yellow and light orange color with a hint of copper. 2 finger fizzy vibrant white head that fades quickly, very quickly for a saison. there is a little bit of a chill haze

s: tart lemons, huge wheaty note, grass, lemongrass, and a nice funky Bretty aroma upfront. Crackers, sugary lemonade, and oranges behind that. the finish on the nose is tart with a nice bit of Belgian spice and pepper. there is just a hint of candi sugar at the end as well

t: wheat, lemongrass, hay and a smooth kiss of barnyard funk upfront. tart lemons, sweet sugar, and pepper spice follow that. there is a lovely smooth oak flavor behind the tartness that is helping to round this out as well. a touch of vinegar cherry juice in here as well. the end has more of that earthy wheat and a nice funk to it with dry crackers

m: mouthfeel is medium, but on the heavier side with high carbonation

o: aroma is much more tart than the taste. this is a pretty good use of tartness in a saison. it has the saison qualities upfront, but the mild tartness takes over mid-sip, however does not overwhelm the flavor. i wouldn't say this is anywhere near puckering. a pretty tasty beer here, great for hot weather

Bottle from Fort Point.
Pours a clear straw yellow with generous finger of bubbly white head and good lacing, smell is sweet and sour white grape flesh, candied lemon peel, floral pollen, hints of funky barnyard straw, taste is sweet floral lemon, white wine musk, very mild funk and oak, light with mild carbonation and a dry finish. A pleasant funky sour candy treat.

8oz. bottle into Night Shift stemware. Shared with schen9303.

This is the closet I can recall any American-made beer smelling like a true gueuze. Hints of hay, lemon zest, cheesiness and a funky farmhouse. Really impressive. Beer opens yeasty and tart with a light, creamy sweetness mixed in. This flavor profile is all confused. There's lemon zest, yeast, hay and vinegar along with a wheaty sweetness at the finish. Weird. Body is light with ample carbonation. Prickly and lively in the mouth and goes down aggressive, tart and messy. Clean finish.

The nose and feel really deliver here but the taste isn't quite there. I'm not sure where Trillium is going with this but I'm not a big fan.

Pours hazy yellow gold with a creamy white foam head. Smells like funky oak, peppercorns, wheat, hay, straw, tangy lemony lime orange grapefruity citrus, some white wine, bready crackery malt, sweet spice, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine.
