Two feet of snow, boots warming by the wood stove, welcome to winter in New England! We brewed this stout with a blend of gourmet coffee beans roasted just for us by White Mountain Coffee in Concord, NH. Pair it with a piping hot bowl of beef stew. Cheers!

Look: Looks like cold brewed coffee. Not much of a head. Looks tasty.
Smell: Thick, dark tasty coffee. Touch of hazelnut and sugar. Honestly the best coffee smell I've seen in a beer.
Taste: Smooth, cold coffee with a slightly sweet aftertaste. Love it. Not too harsh or bitter.
Feel: Nice medium mouth feel.
Overall: This didn't get the best reviews which I don't understand because this is an excellent coffee stout to me. Slightly sweetened high end dark roast. I will be buying again. 8/10.

This stout is very balanced and the coffee was added at the perfect point. Better the beans aren't boiled. Served in a 16 oz can at the Valley Forge Casino steak restaurant.
The coffee bean selection is excellent.
Edit. ABV 6.5% according to can.

I was at my buddy, Samm's, this past weekend for his monthly bottle share. Samm is quite generous & so when I opened the reefer to stow my offerings & saw a new (to me) Henniker CAN, I asked if I could take one for review. He graciously assented & so now I have yet another of their beers to notch on my belt.
From the CAN: "Get some pancakes cooking on the cast iron skillet and put on your slippers. It’s winter, and even though everything outside is frozen, you can take comfort in a hearty pint of The Roast. Our winter seasonal Coffee Stout is brewed with over 15 pounds of locally roasted gourmet coffee beans per batch (Kenya AA, Guatemala Antigua, and Espresso) from our friends at White Mountain Gourmet Coffee in Concord, NH. Wonderfully aromatic and totally satisfying, The Roast is how we like to relax after a day of hitting the slopes or fighting over parking spaces!"
It may be the tail end of Winter 2018-'19, but things are still rather chilly so I feel quite CANfortable in opening this beer. I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. I watched in fascination as, unbidden, it performed a pseudo-cascade, eventually forming just over a finger of dense, foamy, rocky, deep-tan/light-brown head with great retention. Color was Black/Opaque (SRM = 44), allowing ZERO light penetration. Nose was rich with dark-roasted coffee, dried dark fruits and Baker's chocolate. Yum! Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but on the approach. I liked the way that it was at once roasty & understated. I am not a fan of Starbucks coffee as it is often quite roasty & more bitter than I prefer in my advancing age. Here, they had achieved a balance of flavor & bitterness, rendering it eminently drinkable. It was quite quaffable & I was somewhat shocked at how quickly & easily it was going down. The taste was definitely of coffee, but I CANtinued to taste bittersweet chocolate & dried, dark berries, like cranberries. Hmm. Finish was semi-dry, moderately bitter & a very nice example of a coffee Stout, IMHO. YMMV.

Serving: Can
No date (Consumed Jan-16)
A:
Pours thick and black with cascading ruby carbonation and two and a half fingers of brown Styrofoam head that leaves a perfect sheet of lacing in its wake. (4.25)
S:
Coffee, cinnamon, touch of smoke. (3.75)
T:
Sweet coffee with some hard water and a little bit of herbal hop bitterness/molasses at the end. (4)
M:
It is thick and creamy-feeling with a slick, oily, charred finish. (4.25)
O:
This is a nice coffee stout that kind of has an espresso vibe to it.
It is thick and sweet, with a tar-like bitterness that really makes me think of the bubbling oils on coffee beans being roasted and over-carmelized sugar. It is a little rustic and as it warms it gains some sharpness and becomes pretty potent-tasting. Regardless it packs a lot of flavor and feel for a beer of its ABV. Not bad at all. (3.75)

Appearance - dark mahogany body with tan head
Aroma - roasted coffee, dark chocolate
Taste - heavy on the coffee, dark chocolate as well
Mouthfeel - medium bodied, medium carbonation, roasted coffee upfront, chocolate in the middle, bitter finish
Overall - decent stout here, albeit not very complex. Worth a shot
Price Point -$3.50/16 oz can

Poured into a mug, the appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a nice looking off white foamy head that slid off adequately to leave some sly stringy lace.
The aroma had some roasted coffee bean to coffee ground notes fairly bold and up front with an all encompassing bitter cocoa powder semi-sweetness stifling the roast as it warmed.
The flavor was moderately bitter with a simple sweetness and the roasty tones coming in finely with a delicate toast coming in further underneath. Moderate aftertaste of the bitterness along with the roastiness.
The aftertaste was a semi-bitter harsh to semi-roasty pull along my tongue. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt on par. Finish was moderately smooth with a brisk roasty grip at the end.
Overall, I liked it for me, but not as "roasty" as I was lead to believe due it's name. Perhaps again.
